Barb needed a thorough eye exam because of the damage plaquenil can cause on the eyes especially blindness. Dr. Bellotte had an amazing amount of positive reviews online. We were very impressed with the waiting area and the well organized check-in process. When Barb was called into the exam process, she underwent a variety of tests on a wide variety of eye testing hardware. The team member, Meghan, was very caring and explained each test to us. We understood what was being collected and why. We appreciated what we learned vs being kept in the dark and uninformed which has been my experience with most medical testing. Barb's eye pressures were tested a couple of times. When Dr. Bellotte can into the exam room, we found out why. Dr. Bellotte was very thorough going over all the tests and providing results in non technical human language. His team found that Barb's eye pressures are very high. Barb is sufferring from glaucoma which could lead to a loss of her eye sight if not treated. We also learned that we should inform our children because this condition could be passed on to them. Another thing that our kids can complain about when they are angry with us. Dr. Bellotte's genuine concern for Barb's condition was very appreciated. We felt very comforted by his manner. I could see that Dr. Bellotte put Barb at ease as he explained how he could make things better for her eyesight. Dr. Bellotte explained that he could provide treatment in his office with an eye 'degunking" laser. It would be several treatments but her eye pressures would be in normal ranges. Barb also was provided a treatment plan for helping her overcome dry eye issues. Thanks to Dr Bellotte and his team for helping Barb avoid a loss of her eyesight. I definitely learned today how precious eyesight is and how you can lose it by not having the right care. I highly recommend Dr. Bellotte and his team!

While taking my history, he completely dismissed the advice of three other providers (urgent care, Wills Eye Hospital Er and Delray Medical Center ErR) without explanation. Moreover, he said that my having been treated with Paxlovid was useless, and that I would undoubtedly suffer COVID rebound. As an ophthalmologist, he is not qualified to provide such an opinion. I cannot imagine how frightened an elderly person would be of his comments. Fortunately, I have the intelligence and the means to handle such improper treatment. I had 3 different prescribed eye drops from treatments received over the past month. Each provider told me to stop using what was previously prescribed. Siegal told me how many drops of EACH type of Rx eye drop - in other words, advising me to use ALL of them, which was fundamentally inconsistent with prior medical advice) that I already had in my possession, without having a valid list of their names (I recited them from memory and he attempted to match them to those set forth in my EHR). He then gave me only oral instructions on how to use each type of eye drop (I.e., number of drops per day) Apparently, he expected me to remember the medication names (very complex medication names) and use the drops, accordingly. I then asked for written instructions, given the complexity of the information. He then wrote the attached sticky note to serve as instructions. No other documentation was furnished. Needless to say, I will not be seeing Dr Siegal again. As a healthcare attorney, I am a sophisticated user of health care services, and I would not let this doctor treat my dog.

While my PRK eye still has some healing to do it was nothing like the internet made it out to be, and the team does everything to ensure you are comfortable and not in any pain. I have been working with the Katzen team since March of this year when I went in for my first evaluation. Because I was a long time RGP contact user, it took me a bit more time to be approved while only wearing glasses. Fast forward almost 3 months later, and I am writing this review without anything but my corrected eyes! It is truly amazing and the procedure was quick and painless (though you couldn't have told my nerves that the day I had it done). If you are on the fence about visiting Katzen Laser, DO IT. I did a lot of research before finally making the call for an evaluation and my only regret is not doing it sooner. I wouldn't trust my eyes anywhere else. Special thanks to Dr. McCracken as well for seeing me through the whole process, and Julie for her awesome bedside (or chair side in this case) manner! The surgery co-ordinators, Tiffany and Ken were very friendly and efficient. The staff at the surgery center were very kind , making sure I was warm and comfortable. There was no pain during the surgery, later at home my discomfort was manageable with simple Tylenol. At Dr Lam's office you will encounter Carmine at the front desk( take her a Hello Kitty trinket) and Ariel will check your eyes before Dr Lam sees you. Both of these women are delightful and like their jobs. Dr Lam gave me 20/20 vision . He listens to you , he smiles when he speaks to you , he addresses every concern no matter how ridiculous they sound. I highly recommend Dr Lam and his entire staff. Don't be afraid, get the cataracts surgery, you are missing out on so much with bad eye sight.
