I brought my wife, Barb, to West Boca Eye Center and Dr. Bellotte. Barb is a long term plaquenil user. Barb needed a thorough eye exam because of the damage plaquenil can cause on the eyes especially blindness. Dr. Bellotte had an amazing amount of positive reviews online. We were very impressed with the waiting area and the well organized check-in process. When Barb was called into the exam process, she underwent a variety of tests on a wide variety of eye testing hardware. The team member, Meghan, was very caring and explained each test to us. We understood what was being collected and why. We appreciated what we learned vs being kept in the dark and uninformed which has been my experience with most medical testing. Barb's eye pressures were tested a couple of times. When Dr. Bellotte can into the exam room, we found out why. Dr. Bellotte was very thorough going over all the tests and providing results in non technical human language. His team found that Barb's eye pressures are very high. Barb is sufferring from glaucoma which could lead to a loss of her eye sight if not treated. We also learned that we should inform our children because this condition could be passed on to them. Another thing that our kids can complain about when they are angry with us. Dr. Bellotte's genuine concern for Barb's condition was very appreciated. We felt very comforted by his manner. I could see that Dr. Bellotte put Barb at ease as he explained how he could make things better for her eyesight. Dr. Bellotte explained that he could provide treatment in his office with an eye 'degunking" laser. It would be several treatments but her eye pressures would be in normal ranges. Barb also was provided a treatment plan for helping her overcome dry eye issues. Thanks to Dr Bellotte and his team for helping Barb avoid a loss of her eyesight. I definitely learned today how precious eyesight is and how you can lose it by not having the right care. I highly recommend Dr. Bellotte and his team! read more

The doctor and his staff did several tests in May 2024 when I asked for copies of the report I was told it would take a time to generate. I told them to please mail them. After waiting several weeks And not receiving anything the office staff said they did. I never received them. I told them I would pick them up. They told me that They would let me know when they were ready after weeks and weeks of asking. They said they're still not ready I wrote a letter to the doctor marked "personal and confidential", expressing all of this. I just wanted a copy of my records I know had been paid for in full by my insurance as of this writing I still not have heard from anybody this was in May 2024 it is now February 2025 still have not heard anything. This office would get 10 stars if I could rate it that way. The staff, efficient and welcoming, beautiful offices. but most important is they have the most up-to-date testing equipment. The test are extensive and comforable. So comprehensive to give you accurate information on your eye health. Appointment concludes with the kindest , knowledgeable and competent doctor. Long waits to see the doctor. 1 1/2 hours from start to finish. The staff drops the ball every time I asked them to fax over reports to my specialist. I ask them right when I leave my appt. Then when I arrive to my specialist the report is never there. For such a pretty office and a lot of staff maybe they should hire someone that can send the reports. read more

I first came to see him when my life was quite "blurry" and Dr B made things right for me. He is patient, confident and extremely good at what he does. West Boca Eye Center is a state of the art facility and his staff is just nearly as amazing as he is. They are very busy but they work very efficiently like a well oiled machine and I always look forward to coming to his office as the ladies are always so pleasant. On a serious note Dr B performed bilateral cataract surgery and lens implants on both the wifey and me and touch wood the results were outstanding. He walked us through the entire process as I was one nervous hombre and I must say the whole experience was amazing. I was referred to Dr. Brent Bellotte by the emergency room physician. Dr. Bellotte saw me outside of office hours for an eyelid laceration I earned while training with Round 5 mma. He had my eyelid stitched back together in no time. He arrived quickly and worked confidently (I could tell this wasn't the first time he has done this)! This business has over 15 years of service to the people and was glad to learn that they have worked with many MMA fighters. Being a practitioner for about 7 years ive been looking for a eye center that can help with common injuries sustained in training. Dr Brent Bellotte was so nice to me on my first visit that he gave me a tour of the office and its beauty in the aesthetics. I called in to schedule an appointment for my 16 year old son. The young lady who answered the phone had a nice voice and sounded calm but was not helpful and very dismissive in a sense to rush me off the phone because the center could not treat myself son. I asked for recommendations and a referral and she told me she has none and to call my insurance company. I then called another eye center who was super sweet and help and provided me with additional referrals who were not dismissive. Kindness goes a long way...... read more

I was certainly worried when I caught an elbow to the eye in a basketball game. When I saw Dr. Bellotte he was very caring and his staff was excellent and very attentive. The office is well laid out and efficient. I didn't really expect this at a doctors office. He found a tear in my retina and sent me to Dr. Nezgoda who took care of it and I've had no issue since. Had a very disappointing 1st time visit to this practice. I moved nearby several months ago and was in need of my annual eye exam. Since Dr. Bellotte had such good reviews, I made an appointment. I spent much too much time going from room to room for vision tests with technicians and then waited another 1/2 hour to see Dr. Bellotte who recommended cataract surgery. He highly recommended laser surgery for my right eye which is not covered by insurance. Additional costs would be incurred for lens selection and eye drops; he recommended the best choice to be the $3,950 lens. When I checked out after 2 hours there, the clerk told me if I want a copy of my results, I must pay $75. Unheard of in my lifetime. To me, this amounts to extortion, my record is being held for ransom. A few years ago, I had cataract surgery in my left eye, performed in Vero Beach by a reputable surgeon and completely covered by insurance. So the bill here could amount to ~ $6,000 out of pocket for one eye. I will not be returning to this practice. read more

It was the best eye doctor for 2 1/2 years until Dr Silva moved on. I had a fabulous relationship with her and the office staff. She left and they brought in Dr. Prosia who seems to care more about seeing as many patients as he can. He would come in, move quickly. Never ask me what I needed. He even told me the lens he put in was perfect after I told him it was uncomfortable. I need to see an Optometrist/Opthamologist on a regular basis Beck have Sjogrens Disease. I don't produce tears and when Dr Silva was there she changed the contact every two to three weeks and after two years the pain was under control. Dr Prosia didn't want to do it but he put one in anyway. Today I get a call he won't see me tomorrow. NO WARNING to get another doctor. What kind of arrogant self impressed doctor doesn't even give you the courtesy to find someone new ASAP. He asked me to go to Bascom Palmer but my first is February 15th. What does the jackass expect me to do for 4 months. I think Dr. Prosia should take Prozac and chill. Maybe his attitude will change. He's in the business of helping people but I guess he doesn't give a crap. Dr. Bilotte is a great guy but he only really does surgery. read more

This review is about my abysmal appointment-making experience. I never actually made it to the clinic. I called about a non-draining chalazion, a medical problem that might require minor surgery (lancing). On the basis of my insurance, I was given an appointment with Dr. Silva. I called back when I discovered she has a PhD in optometry, but is not a medical doctor. "She can do everything a doctor can do except cutting, and for that she can refer you." So, I'd have to then take additional time off for an appointment elsewhere to actually have treatment? I'm not calling a specialist so I can pay hundreds to go get patted on the head and sent away. Unbelievable. Not very consider of people's time. Make sure you ask the right questions when you call. An optometrist is not an opthalmologist. read more

I would have given 5 stars, I didn't because they have no respect for their patients time. No matter what time my appointment has been I always seem to have to wait close to an hour. When you walk into the waiting room and there are no seats left it is evident that they are over booking. Dr. Sila is the best but my time is equally as valuable. The girls up front for the most part are sweet but they can be rude because patients get restless for the LONG WAIT TIMES!! Horrible experience I will never return here. I called and they informed me that they accept my insurance. I show up, fill out the paperwork, and am then told they don't accept Anthem Blue Cross insurance. I call my insurance company and they contacted the eye center and explained that I am covered here and there must have been a miscommunication. West Boca eye center said they would research and call me back soon. After waiting two hours I finally call back and they tell me I'm covered three hours after my original appt time. With a busy work schedule I didn't have time to come back anytime soon since I took Monday off just to get an eye exam done. They were nice enough to let me come back for an appt the same day. When I return I could feel the hostility almost like I was impeding on their day. After returning the women at the desk asks for my insurance card again. She proceeds to call my insurance company to ask them questions after they already informed me to come back since they cover my insurance. I didn't understand why this wasn't taken care of before I returned. I spent four hours trying to get my annual eye exam. I can go facility but I chose West Boca Eye Center because I looked at all the great reviews they received. The paperwork I filled out at the eye center listed all of these extra charges I would have to pay for an annual checkup which I never pay at my other eye center. When I asked the women at the front desk she had no idea. You would think the front desk would have some insight if they work there. I drove 30 miles back and forth to see this office since they had great reviews. I would give them a 0 if I could. When I was finally seen by the doctor which was basically for 2 minutes she was not very friendly and made me feel rushed like I put them behind schedule since they had no idea they accept my insurance. Never once did I get an apology like "sorry for making you wait four hours for our mistake". Instead they were nasty and shouldn't work in health care. I work in healthcare and treat patients everyday and would never treat my patients in that manner. Horrible experience, I am disgusted with how they treated as a new patient. Never will is step foot in that office, horrible customer service! Made me feel like they didn't need me as a customer. read more

The technical aspects of my check up and the welcome from the staff were all done very well. I was diagnosed with cataracts that needed surgery. In the initial paperwork, all patients are required to sign a arbitration agreement, which severely limits your legal rights should something go wrong with the Center's services or surgery. I called to ask if this was mandatory and was told it was. Shopped around and found highly competent specialists who do not require an arbitration agreement and I have been very satisfied with their service and the surgery I had. So if you want to protect your legal rights, find another specialist. read more

I was referee by a friend to go see Dr Sara Berke-Silva at the west boca eye center. From the moment I stepped foot inside the office I knew it was going to be a great experience. The facility was extremely clean and the staff was very warm and nice. The technology and machines were state of the art. Let's be honest... no body likes to go to any doctor, ever.
