I hesitated to review…read morethis salon because the poor Yelp reviews actually came up as a conversation topic during my appointment. However, knowing there are other blondes out there who do not want yellow hair, I decided to write a review. This stylist isn't incredibly rude, but she does think highly of her own training/skills and will let you know how many years she's been doing it...several times. I just want to let everyone know that I do not dislike the stylist as a person, but I did not feel comfortable during my appointment for the following reasons: Weak consultation: Usually a stylist will go through color/shade options with you when you get highlights, right? There was no consultation and when I tried to interrupt, I was pretty much ignored. So no matter what sort of blonde you are, you're getting the stylist special. Highlights were not close enough to the roots- it looked like I had new growth immediately after the appointment. I went to a different stylist to get this fixed a week later and these remarks were made "how long ago was this done?...it appears she didn't even try to get close the roots." The color was yellow. I went to a different stylist who toned my hair, added lowlights and fixed it, but for a week I looked like storybook character. Bangs did not lay properly. Another stylist used a razor and fixed this. Stylist complained about Grouponers wanting something for nothing. Despite this, she also swore she would continue to run it because it helped with business. I totally understand that, but don't make me feel like I shouldn't be there because you decided to run a Groupon. As a "cheap, over demanding Grouponer" even though I was extremely dissatisfied, I did not buy the Groupon (this way stylist gets 100%) and then I still tipped 20%. So, that's my review. I don't think I've ever given something a one star, but it's important to validate these concerns against those who rated this salon poorly, but who also do not seem satisfied anywhere else/in life (check out profiles of those who wrote poor reviews- it's hard to take them seriously because they seem disgruntled in general). I had a haircut with Heather. I was wondering if it was a good cut. The next morning, my curlers…read morecaught fire! I wasn't able to style my hair and was relegated to wearing a ponytail all week. I was frustrated with my hair and Heather had convinced me during my haircut appointment that a Brazilian Blowout would alleviate my hair frustrations. So, the next week I went back for the Brazilian Blowout. This proved the haircut was not good. My ends were ragged and looked completely uncut. The layers were just chunks and there were some sections that had hair 2, 3, even 4 inches different in one section. I called to see what could be done and made another appointment to go back under the impression that anyone else would be addressing my concerns. No, the appointment was made for Heather to cut my hair again. I canceled my appointment and left. After seeking recommendations for another stylist, I went to someone else who confirmed that the cut was very bad. He also told me that my hair, because it is thin, makes me not a good candidate for a Brazilian Blowout. This salon is no longer on Sawdust, it is now in the Marriott Waterway. I'm sure there are qualified stylist there, but Heather is not one of them. I also didn't appreciate that the owner, when confronted with my issue, didn't seek to correct the problem himself or even select a better stylist to correct my really bad cut.
