What's the point of having insurance if I have to do the accounting work to get my money back? Parents take time off from work for appointments so be respectful of their time, verify the insurance when the appointment is made AND give them a call prior if you're wanting them to pay out of pocket and deal with insurance themselves. We'll be going somewhere else that respects our time.
