Hospice patients are put in the oldest building on the campus directly next and under the helicopter flight path and landing area. Next to ambulance parking and loading docks. Noise non stop. Our "finest" room had one sofa to sleep on. I had to fight w charge nurse to move chairs to create a place to sleep next to my husband. No cleaning in room for six days. Inadequate saftey in bathroom and a communal shower! Total bio hazard! Save that one nurse the staff was wonderful, doctor caring but when I raised hell about the facility I was told improvements would be made but they would not be moving patients to any of their new construction or newly acquired buildings. They simply DO NOT CARE about dying patients. Its been a month since I requested from the hospice manager to be contacted by his direct boss. Nothing. My husband's remark when transfered " I worked hard all my life to die in a dump" My family is forever scarred by this place.

The description of services and the initial at home set up was nothing like we were told. When calling to notify we were home & we were told we'd get a tuck in visit, no one ever came. When calling the woman fumbled the phone & said she'd let someone know. The communication has been nonexistent. No call, no help getting us prepared at home. My Mother is pretty much bed bound & her husband needs guidance. Her meds were supposed to be in a "bubble wrap" set, easily labeled & prefilled syringes...this is not what we received. The at home hospital bed with special mattress looks ancient & doesn't have leg rails...not ideal. If this doesn't change I will be seeking a new provider very soon.

I have stage 4 RCC and dealing with pain management and my oncologist had become ridiculous…read more Instead of me telling them what I needed and what my concerns were they told me basically how I felt, how I thought and provided no relief at all it just felt like a money grab as most healthcare facilities are. Vitas come on once I decided to end chemo as it was not working and cost me 12000 in dental work. From day one they listened they let me talk they let me tell them how I felt. They put together a plan and have been nothing short of exceptional so far. I now receive equipment that I need and the correct medications so that I can possibly enjoy the rest of the time I have with my family. Maybe I just got lucky but I pray that anyone else using Vitas has the same experience that I have. Honestly I actually have hope which is something I haven't had in 2 plus years. God Bless.

DO NOT TRUST this company with your loved ones. I wish there was an option for zero stars…read more Our experience with this company was very disappointing. Before switching to their services, we were led to believe that the necessary DME equipment was readily available, but after switching, we were given multiple explanations as to why it was not available. We also had concerns about the care provided during a visit. An aide came to our home for approximately 30 minutes, did not properly clean my father, left his dirty clothing on the floor, and left the home without notifying anyone. I contacted the company to report our concerns. Instead of receiving a call to discuss what happened and hear our side, we received a call from a manager who spoke aggressively to my family and me and said, "We will not talk to our aide that way." We felt that our concerns were dismissed before the situation was fully addressed. We also did not receive an apology for the way we were spoken to.

From the day…read morethe first nurse arrived to assess my mom's condition until the day she passed, Vitas was amazing. Each and every nurse and aid that came to our home was just so kind, caring, compassionate and true angels. They took such wonderful care of my mom and helped us through the difficult time of losing my mom. I don't remember all of their names but a few that really stood out were Mary the nurse case manager, Beth Ulla. Ulla was there when my mom passed. She really did a great job dressing her for us to say our final goodbyes. She sat with us while we cried and laughed. She didn't leave us until my mom was taken to the funeral parlor. Mary came back a few days later just to check on us. The chaplains who came were wonderful and helped my mom to reduce her fears and pray. There is an aid I really wanted to recognize as well but I don't remember her name. She was there with us on the 25 and 26th. I think her name was Elizabeth. She was a gem as well. Thank you to all the staff and compassionate care givers who helped us get through this time. You made a difficult situation much better. Please commend all of your staff Thank you

The team leader Jamie does not have any communication skills, compassion, and it terrible to work with. The CNA's and Nurses for the most-art weere great but the company itself is awful and caused many problems with many gaps in communication and support. I do not recommend their services at all.

We were with Cornerstone hospice before my dad passed away not even a year ago so I went with them…read morenow that my mother's in hospice and what a drastic difference as of today she has no nurse no Social Worker the Team Leader Jamie is absolutely horrific to deal with she talks over people takes no accountability for her employees and is downright rude. Do not believe the five star ratings that you have seen here they are a complete utter and outright lie. They aren't keeping track of her prescriptions. We see them once a week. We haven't seen an aid for two weeks and we cannot even get medicine filled. It's like they really just want the people to die. My father was only in their hospice care for about 45 days before I kept him home up to five days before he died in Cornerstone the grief counselor would not give me counseling because she didn't like the way that I looked wrap your mind around that didn't like the way that I looked. They never found us grief counseling. I'm coming up on losing both of my parents within one year. They don't care they don't offer any services except a volunteer to sit and speak with my mother and she doesn't even want that. They've never given us any community resources to help me out in doing errands or small things around the house and I am burnt out they know it. They know that my actual life was in jeopardy. I had a stroke. My mental health is failing and I'm not able to be there for my mother the way I was with my dad. This is a direct result of the care that we are not receiving from this organization. We don't even know her new team the nurse or the aid or the social worker. Let me just tell you, Leslie the first Social Worker was horrible. It's hard to believe that she even has a license. I'm a social worker so I know I worked in family court for 20 years. The quality of people that they provide is just not good. We tipped them all $50 at Christmas the team separately never heard of thank you and this is the kind of car you get. I just spoke with Jamie today and she literally would not let me get a word in edgewise so I just hung up please if you have a loved one and you want compassion do not under any circumstances use Cornerstone trust me when I say they honestly do not care about a dying person or a patient that needs help and they definitely don't care about the caregiver. After speaking with Our Medicare, we are not receiving the services. We are entitled to, and they've never sent us supplies for personal use no pull-ups no nothing but yet they've build Medicare proving once again. Anything in this area is fraudulent charging to Medicare stay tuned.

Please think very carefully before choosing Cornerstone for your loved one…read more I am sharing this because I would never want another family to experience what ours did during one of the most painful moments of our lives. My daughter repeatedly called and begged for help while her husband was rapidly dying. We were told that a nurse would be available to help care for him during his final days at home. Instead, we were told there was no nurse available and encouraged to move him to their hospice facility. His wishes were to be home with his family. From our perspective, it felt as though the support promised to our family was not available when we needed it most. We were left desperately trying to get help while our loved one was nearing the end of his life. Those final days are precious and cannot be replaced. A dying person deserves comfort, dignity, compassionate care, and a family that feels supported--not a family that feels abandoned and has to keep begging for assistance. A nurse did finally come in time to confirm his death, followed by a chaplain; both were kind and compassionate. However, our anxiety coupled with our heartbreak will be a very long time healing. Shame on you Cornerstone Hospice! I strongly encourage families considering Cornerstone to ask very specific questions about nurse availability, staffing, response times, and what happens when a patient is actively dying at home. Get the answers in writing if possible.

The care and concern that all staff members have for the residents is in comparable. This is a small facility, 40 beds, but the staff was very adequate. The building was spotless and odorless. Each resident had their own TV, the rooms were large, beds modern and comfortable. Large closet, two dressers, plenty of wall space to hang pictures. Excellent social director, and therapy staff, who knew and were concerned about all the residents. I was lucky to get my Mother in this facility.
