Advent Orlando inpatient hospice DO NOT put your loved on there! We expected the same as an room we…read morehad ever had there but no. Hospice patients are put in the oldest building on the campus directly next and under the helicopter flight path and landing area. Next to ambulance parking and loading docks. Noise non stop. Our "finest" room had one sofa to sleep on. I had to fight w charge nurse to move chairs to create a place to sleep next to my husband. No cleaning in room for six days. Inadequate saftey in bathroom and a communal shower! Total bio hazard! Save that one nurse the staff was wonderful, doctor caring but when I raised hell about the facility I was told improvements would be made but they would not be moving patients to any of their new construction or newly acquired buildings. They simply DO NOT CARE about dying patients. Its been a month since I requested from the hospice manager to be contacted by his direct boss. Nothing. My husband's remark when transfered " I worked hard all my life to die in a dump" My family is forever scarred by this place.

The description of services and the initial at home set up was nothing like we were told. When calling to notify we were home & we were told we'd get a tuck in visit, no one ever came. When calling the woman fumbled the phone & said she'd let someone know. The communication has been nonexistent. No call, no help getting us prepared at home. My Mother is pretty much bed bound & her husband needs guidance. Her meds were supposed to be in a "bubble wrap" set, easily labeled & prefilled syringes...this is not what we received. The at home hospital bed with special mattress looks ancient & doesn't have leg rails...not ideal. If this doesn't change I will be seeking a new provider very soon.

Vitas come on once I decided to end chemo as it was not working and cost me 12000 in dental work. From day one they listened they let me talk they let me tell them how I felt. They put together a plan and have been nothing short of exceptional so far. I now receive equipment that I need and the correct medications so that I can possibly enjoy the rest of the time I have with my family. Maybe I just got lucky but I pray that anyone else using Vitas has the same experience that I have. Honestly I actually have hope which is something I haven't had in 2 plus years. God Bless.

I have had $3500 in out of pocket expenses this year. I thought it would go to my Blue out of pocket max. Instead with the bills submitted to Medicare, that $3500 went to my doctors as my share of the bills because of Medicare which has no max out of pocket. Add that $3500 to the zero pit towards my $4500 Florida Blue max out of pocket and I am looking at $8k before I can breathe.

Unfortunately, who you invite into your home can be disastrous. In all honesty, our first experience with Vitas for my Father-in-Law (not necessarily this office--Vitas has many facilities around Central Florida) was not that great because WE were inexperienced, and the first health care attendant they provided was brand new. Also, it was all over in 48 hours--it takes time to figure out what services are available, and how to get services and equipment when you need them. Still, the net impact of our first experience was positive so when my Mother-in-Law began declining quickly we again called Vitas. This time we had the benefit of our previous experience, and Grandma was in hospice almost two weeks. Most importantly, we had Sunshine. Sunshine (her real name) arrived, and let me say that she is the embodiment of her name in every sense. She's an experienced RN and a bundle of energy, all smiles, hugs and good advice. We were spellbound! Shortly, we began meeting our care providers, and we also began asking for several of them by name. Yaira arrived early on the scene and helped bathe and dress Grandma. We met Candy B. who is wonderful (very sweet and patient). At our request, she worked several extra shifts for us. Cindy is wonderful as well, and she advised us that Suzette, who was the brightest part of this company our first time around was still working for the company on weekends while she completes the last semester of her studies, when she too will earn her RN diploma. We asked for her, and she was here for us again as well. Candy and Suzette each worked at least three 12-hour shifts. It's important to note that Dr Pham, the physician who attended, came to our home at least three times. Twice she was here well in excess of a half hour. With a wonderful bedside manner, she spent as much time with us as with Grandma. The young men who delivered the bed, oxygen concentrator and supplies were also very considerate. They also returned immediately after my Mother-in-Law passed to remove that equipment, which is more important than it sounds as I write this. The days following a death are difficult and moving from hospice to planning a funeral in another state is a nightmare. Both of our loved ones passed in our home with all of their family at their side. That was our goal. This is an event each of us must face, but knowing that we were there for them every step of the way provided peace and comfort to all of us--not just our departed parents. Thank you Vitas for making this possible.

But Melody from Cornerstone Hospice guided me through the process. Melody was patient, sensitive and gave me all the information I needed about my father's sudden illness before I made the decision to approve the transfer to their care. She made herself available at all times, listened to all my concerns and answered all my questions. Melody made recommendations that truly showed her level of care and empathy, which seems to be overrated these days. Finding out that someone you love is terminally ill is hard to swallow, is a time of pain and confusion, desperation and uncertainty. The way Melody handled my situation made it easier for me to know what steps to take and when. Even after my father passed away, I got numerous calls from the staff at Cornerstone to check up on me, see how I was doing, and offered emotional support if needed. I can't thank them enough for the way they cared for my father and the exceptional service they provided me with. I HIGHLY recommend Cornerstone Hospice!

I would give zero stars if I could. My experience with Cornerstone Hospice was absolutely awful…read more The representative, Morgan Conley, blatantly lied to me by saying my Dad could stay in the hospital for his entire hospice care. Later, when the hospice nurse came in, she confirmed that this was untrue and admitted that the rep had lied. On top of that, the nurse was incredibly cold, unkind, and showed no compassion whatsoever--exactly the opposite of what you'd expect from someone walking into a room with a grieving family. It was one of the most upsetting experiences during an already heartbreaking time. Thankfully, we were able to switch hospice companies before my Dad officially went on hospice care. But not every family may realize they have that option, and I can't imagine how much worse things would have been if we had stayed with Cornerstone. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY under any circumstances. They do not care about your loved one's best interests, and they are not forthcoming or honest. Families deserve compassion and truth during this time--not lies and cruelty.
