Tiramisu is amazing! Busy as most bakeries are in Detroit. Very good cannoli too, one of the best I have had.

I've lived no more than 3 miles of this place my whole life. I'm always on the mission to find the best and most "perfect" cannoli, and theirs is just that. The outer layer is nice, crisp and always fresh, and oh..the filling, cold and perfect is the only way to describe it. Their muffaletta is awesome, filling and cheap (I like how simple their version is). The cookie assortment is outstanding. If i bring my boyfriend in with me I know we're going to be there for an hour on him trying to decide what he wants. This place is bumping a week before all holidays so make sure you place an order ahead of time. With a line out the door they could have fifty employees behind there but it doesn't matter..you're waiting, I've learned that long ago. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER TREATMENT! Long time customer and have referred many people. I was attempting to go into the store today February 17, 2018 to purchase a cassada cake for my mothers birthday. Had my friend drive me basically up to the door as I use a cane for assistance walking. It was exactly 4:58 p.m. (apple watches and iPhones are uniquely accurate at time keeping). I found the door locked and the remaining customer service personnel (and I now use that term lightly concerning your staff) laughing and scrambling to the back to turn out the lights! A customer had just left the store while we were pulling to the front of the bakery meaning the staff simply ignored me and locked the door! If you are going to close at 4:58 rather than 5:00 then post that as your closing time on Saturday. Better yet, when you see a paying customer approaching your place of business, its probably a great business practice to let them purchase something as though your salary were dependent on it! I am now reluctant to ever recommend your bakery for fear you will treat others the way I was treated this evening. read more

Went to this bakery today for the first time. We drove 10 miles from Royal Oak, after being on a weeklong sopranos bender. Call me crazy, but after 19 1/2 hours of television hearing the words "sfogliatelle", we couldn't take it anymore and had to know what the fuss was about. Shortly after arriving, we realize that in America they are called lobster tails, embarrassment at trying to pronounce the word in the first place, we left with two cannoli, two lobster tails and éclair. Not only was every single one of these pastries executed perfectly, but we were super impressed with professional staff and the variety. Pricing was reasonable and well deserved. Thank God this place is like 15 miles away because I would gain 8000 pounds being any closer. read more

Ricotta Cassata cake is to die for! They are a little pricey but so worth it! The ricotta cassata cakes are special order only, the ones in the case are the regular cassata cakes, still good but don't compare to the ricotta in my opinion. My only problem with this place is that I can not go in and just pick up my cake ordered without buying myself a ricotta cannoli to eat before I get home. So good!! read more

I have been coming here ever since I can remember. My picky Sicilian parents and grandparents have always named Vito's as the best bakery. The cannolis are the best, the cassata cake, and most of all the Muffaletta. It's a little pricey for someone who doesn't know the true quality of the food and sweets they serve but to me I would pay any crazy amount... Definitely try this bakery when you are in the area or if you live close by. You will not be disappointed! read more

Not being from this area, we wouldn't have found this place, except we had a $2 gift certificate that enticed us to give it a try. We ended up selecting a cherry turnover, a gluten-free brownie, and a KitKat pastry. My husband said the cherry turnover was good. My niece really liked her gluten-free brownie and made note of the location for future visits (they also carried a gluten-free cookie and some other lavish chocolate dessert was also free of gluten). I had the KitKat dessert (forget the exact name). I had no idea what it would be like, but the chocolate glaze made the rectangular dessert look pretty and I figured I couldn't go wrong with chocolate. I can honestly say that it was hands-down one of the best desserts I've ever had - and I've had a little too much experience in this food area! It is a good thing I don't live close because I'd find every excuse to have another. There were a lot of other delicious looking items in the bakery, but I may never know what they taste like. Cannoli's - Cassatta Cakes - Pastries - OH MY! This bakery is seriously AS good AS it gets! I've gotten rolls here on a pinch and they were gracious and helpful. Since I work for a banquet hall they had to come up with 200 rolls in 2 hours and delivered! I can't say enough about how knowledgeable and friendly the staff is! If I could give this place 0 stars I would! Customer service is absolutely vile!!! I drove a distance of 35 minutes just to try them and arrived at 3:00pm exactly and was kicked out Rudely! I had Vito's make a wedding cake and had it delivered to Andiamos, because my husband and I eloped on the 15th of Oct. and we had reservations at Andiamos for dinner after the ceremony. It was a surprise for him, because everything else had been so low key, we needed a few surprises! All I have to say, is Best Cake Ever! It really was probably the best cake I've ever had from a bakery. We had marble cake with chocolate mousse between the layers. It was so moist and flavorful, with a thick layer, of very good chocolate mousse. Also the cake was very pretty. I am now going to have them make the cake for my husbands 40th birthday party and also for our sons birthday party in the summer. We are also planning to go there in the next week or so to try other things they make. It is 45 minutes away from us, but definitely worth it! Eat cake here! Longtime customer here...I stop at Vito's Bakery a few times a month, usually on Saturdays. The baked treats are fabulous - everything I've had from Vito's is delicious, particularly anything with Chocolate Ganache (yum). I've never had bad service either, although on weekend mornings you can expect to wait a bit for your turn because each customer gets the full attention of one of the courteous clerks. I usually stop in the morning or early afternoon because Vito's most popular treats can sell out early. The Sicilian Cassata they make is as close as we are going to get to what they make on the island. It is delicious! It has the green marzipan wrapped across the outside and the candied fruits. The ricotta filling tastes like it is ought to. Just make sure to preorder yours or you will have to settle for the Americanized, although still very tastey, cassata. 4.5 stars. It's been so many years I cannot remember anymore but I believe somebody rolled into work with a Cassata Cake from Vito's one day and after one bite I was in La-La-Land. It has to be 30+ years since I have been bringing in their famous Cannoli's to work and to parties outside of work. Once you are inside their fabulous smelling bakery store-front, you will be like a kid in a candy store. All of the sudden you will want to buy more of their beautifully decorated and hand-made products to share with friends and family. Also, I have my husband hooked on their Muffaletta as well as myself. We always go in there for a couple of treats and walk out with double of what we came in there for. Choosing a bakery for my dad's birthday party was not too hard, even though we were planning it from California. My husband saw pictures of Vito's Bakery and said, "Looks clean." (He has delivered flour, etc. to bakeries for 45 years.) We ordered the cassata cake. It was perfect! The cake looked elegant and tasted delicious. Many people commented on it. My wife ordered a birthday cake from Vito's. It was supposed to be an old fashioned carrot cake,white cream cheese frosting, and 'blue' icing for the writing. She was assured there would be walnuts and raisins in the cake with walnuts on the outside of the layer cake. Pretty straight forward? NO. No walnuts anywhere (she was told they had been ground up and put into the batter-no there were no walnuts). The writing was in 'red'. Also, there was an overpowering coconut flavour and the 'carrot' was weird too. Every piece of carrot was exactly the same...like it was really dyed coconut. I ordered just the regular Canolis and wow were they amazing!!! Usually I'm not the biggest fan of them but the ones here are right on point. Reasonably priced, bakery was clean, and staff was attentive. Seemed to get a bigger rush in when everyone gets off work but they have a number system which keeps things moving. i have been going here for ten years, and when i placed a pre order($30-35) the very rude guy asked me for my credit card number(which is fine)my exp date(which is fine), but then demanded i give him my 3 digit code on the back as well as my address AND my full name as it appears on my credit card!! This is identity theft attempt no doubt in my mind. All you need is credit card number and exp date that is it!! all this other info that was asked is what online purchases ask for, i told him i would not leave the other info he goes"fine i cancel order then" and fricken hangs up! ill never go there again, who ever has better check there transaction history!! read more

Decades ago, a specialty cake that my parents would get was the Sicilian Cassata from Naples Bakery, an Italian bakery on the east side of Detroit which moved to Roseville and then closed years later. The same cake was found being made by a bakery of a produce market...a baker from Naples Bakery having found his/her way to this other bakery. At first, we were so happy to have found the cake being made the same way. Unfortunately, as time passed, the place did not maintain the same quality in its product. Then we heard that Vito's Bakery made the cake in what seemed to be the same way as the old Naples Bakery. Indeed, Vito's is fantastic! We are so thankful that Vito's Sicilian Cassata fulfills our craving for this wonderful dessert. Vito's has maintained consistency from order to order, year after year, for about the seven years that we have ordered this cake at Vito's. My parents have passed away, but I can still carry on our family's tradition of ordering this amazingly crafted cake by Vito's for our special occasions! read more
