Purchased a mini bumpy cake. Cake was kind of dense boarding almost dry in texture. The poured chocolate taste was a little too much like dark chocolate for me. Reminiscent of a Ding Dong flavor more than bumpy cake. Used to enjoy the cheery nut cake but that has changed and does not taste as good as it used to. Cupcakes are dry when I have purchased them. Employees are rude. The woman wearing a hat that said Dawn on it did not even acknowledge the fact that there was a customer. Stood there scrolling on her phone. The younger girl who did help me was snarky when I asked what a particular cupcake was. There is literally no signage by the cupcakes. How are you supposed to know without asking. Can't say enough about the cupcakes I got. I bought six different kinds. They have such a variety of flavors, it was hard to choose. They were so fresh, no dryness and the frostings were not that super sweet type. They were creamy like whipped cream. Perfect size too. Will definitely go back for more. read more

I have been purchasing cakes and cupcakes for years from La Petite and have to agree with the wedding cake disappointment review: Cakes are not decorated as nicely as they used to be. In fact there are times I look at the case and wonder who in the world did the decorations. They look so poorly done. Another experience is the so very dry cupcakes. I stopped buying cupcakes because they are so dry and now purchase the slices of cake because I do not find the cupcakes worth the calories ! I have another complaint, this is going to sound so very strange however, this is one of the few bakeries that offer cherry nut cake. What I am finding is that the cherry nut cake has absolutely no cherry nor walnut flavor. The colors are there. The texture is kind of there. The cake is moist. The flavors are just not there. It tastes like a regular yellow cake. Sometimes there is that the flavor of an ever so slightly under baked yellow cake. In fact my now gluten free (GF) partner who misses everything gluten and just loves cherry nut lived dangerously (GF for anti inflammatory purposes not celiac ). He tried my cherry nut cake as the last three times I thought my tastebuds were off. He too could not tell it was a cherry nut cake. It is almost like it could be a box mix or something? I did go against my better judgment and try a new mango cupcake. Not very good at all. I did not care for the dry whipped frosting ,the mango filling, the yellow orange chips on top and the cupcake was..... so very very dry !!! Went in today with nana, papa, and mother at 3:30 after my grandmas funeral to grab a cannoli and her favorite cake. After asking for one large or small cannoli she asked if we wanted nuts or sprinkles. My nana and papa didn't hear what she said and were confused. She was rude and repeated herself in a monotone, raised voice. After asking for what all she said was nuts or sprinkles again with the same rude manner. No patience or kindness. Stopped in here after eating at a restaurant in the same strip mall. Had no idea what to expect. When I walked in, I asked the individual behind the counter what she would recommend. She related the bumpy cake and cherry nut cake. I had one of each and they both were very tasty. They also had real buttercream and not the fake stuff. Of the two, I'd say the cherry nut cake was my favorite. Never had anything like it before and it was very moist. Will stop by again soon! read more

My sister and mom called around for Gluten Free cupcakes while I was in town. These were unbelievable. My sister first bought some to try before making a big order and had my nephew try them. He is a very picky eater and loved them!!! I agree!! I was only home for a short visit (one night) and ate three of them in two hours. The frosting is too die for!! Stopped into La Petite for the first time to buy a box cookies and unfortunately had the worst customer service I've had in a long time. From the minute I walked in the door, the older white woman (possibly the owner?) working behind the counter made me feel completely uncomfortable. She did not greet me with "hello", "how are you?", "how may I help you?" NOTHING. So rude! I asked her for the price of the display box of cookies sitting on the counter and she said it was $10ish. I was under the impression that I could fill up the box for around $10 or so, so I picked out the cookies to fill the box and added a mini cake on the side. When it came time to pay, my total was $25. Unbeknownst to me, she added an extra box of cookies to my order and when I questioned her on the price/extra box, she gave me an attitude. I explained to her that I only wanted one box of cookies, not two, and she was quick to tell me all about the cookies I had chosen. I said yes, but I only wanted to fill the standard box and you took it upon yourself to add on ANOTHER half size box that I did not ask for. She was rude and combative so I immediately asked her to cancel my order. She did not offer an apology, or a chance to remove the unwanted box of cookies. I cancelled the order and will never step foot in that bakery again. read more

Tuesday is Bear Claw Day and we try to get there early before they run out. These are flaky pastry with almond paste inside, and a light glaze with almonds on the top. Perfect texture, tender and flaky, and the filling is pure almond paste, and a lot of it. They also make about 10 different small pastries that we have a difficult time choosing from -- but my favorite of the whole variety is the ganache bars. These are the perfect size for a not-so-sinful dessert but with all the satisfaction. The cake part is made with almond flour, and the top is chocolate ganache. There are large pastries of all sorts, a huge variety of cakes and cheesecakes (and by the slice on both, too!) and cookies. Every last thing we've tried in the two or three years since we found La Petite has been the best - no bakery can beat them. read more

I wasn't blown away by the deserts. Had a pineapple upside down cake and some cupcakes. The cupcakes we wanted weren't available, so we had to pick again. No indication of what was actually available. Sampled some frostings, buttercream and French buttercream, they both had a waxy texture. Probably won't go back because I didn't get a good vibe from the place. Maybe their catering service is better than the day-to-day availability. It was on a Monday, too. I ordered a custom cake for my retirement party and it was perfect. The owner and decorator helped design the cake to my specifications, delivered it to my office, fixed a wilting flower on site. Two layers were cherry chip, two devil's food. The cakes were perfect, icing tasted like the sample, and the two tone marbling in the icing was perfect. Decorations were made as designed. This was down the way from an Italian restaurant we ate at following a funeral. So I said, hey, they have cannoli - let's get some for later. We bought a few of the mini ones. DELICIOUS!! The crisp, light shell tasted like it had cinnamon in it and the cannoli cream had chocolate shavings in it and dipped in nuts on each end in the traditional manner. We also picked up cinnamon rolls and pecan buns, but haven't tucked into them yet. If in the area, I would definitely go back to get cannoli. Yum! read more
