PROS: Their wrap, soup and Leches Cake are yummy! Highly recommend. Love that they have curbside pick up.m-this makes ordering with them very convenient. This also makes them stand out from other businesses. CONS: Just wish they hadn't gotten rid of their powdered cookie dessert (can't remember the name), they used to carry years ago. I think these cookies and their Leches cake are the top two desserts they have carried by far. Please bring back those cookies!! read more

Our first time ordering from Viva Chicken. Order was ready quickly and accurately. We ordered 2 half chicken dinners with two sides. The two rices were excellent along with the fries. The plantains were OK, perhaps not the freshest. The half chickens were very dry, so much that the wings were not edible, the chicken was not freshly cooked. Not sure we will be back. Mrs. K. said that she wanted "chicken!" for dinner, something like our old Florida favorite Pollo Tropical. They don't have that here, but they have something close so I steered us to Viva. Full COVID practices going on here with tables separated and the booths marked off. Staff wearing masks, customer masks required and the condiment stations are unavailable. There's also a foot pull on the bathroom door so no touching! Even though it was just the two of us, I ordered the whole chicken meal. They were fresh out of chicken, so we waited about ten minutes and that was great because our chicken was super fresh and super hot. Quartered for us on the plate, easy to fork over and dig in. For sides, we of course got the plantains and they were amazing. Peruvian fried rice was so fresh and so fluffy, it was all so terrific. And the green beans were al dente and delicious. When we were done, there was still plenty left over and I got boxes for all of it. Mrs. K. said it's her new favorite! Excellent meal, great service, not expensive at all. We absolutely love Viva Chicken! We stop by this franchise every time we visit family in Mint Hill. Wish one would open near us in Florida.

The food is usually always on point. Otherwise, I'd rate five stars. Besides this most recent visit, I've only had one major issue, but it was rectified immediately and with the utmost respect. Yet, I'm beginning to wonder what's going on because now that each time I go in, there's always some mishap with my order. The last few times, my order was incorrect, but I'd already left the restaurant when I discovered the mistakes. With my most recent visit, I ordered my favorite corn salad only to be disappointed that Viva Chicken must have fallen on times of scarcity because there was absolutely no corn in the corn salad! I love this restaurant and don't want these minor mistakes to ruin my desire to be a returning customer, but I do expect to get what I pay for and nothing less. read more

Children should not be allowed to work in a fast food restaurant without being supervised. Please double check your order before leaving with it. The wrong items will be placed in your bag even though you were specific in what you wanted. It's a disappointment to get all the way home with items you didn't even ask for and missing the items you did ask for. read more

Good food from the Viva chicken! We loved their food in ballantyne and tried their Sun Valley location for takeout. I got the tacu bowl with chicken and avocado with cilantro rice. I love their yellow sauce it's garlic and juicy deliciousness!! The tacu bowl was great for lunch and had yummy roasted chicken and vegetables. My husband had 1/4 chicken and two side dishes --cilantro rice and plantains. He enjoyed it. We had takeout and ordered online but they had a slight snafu with ordering. Thankfully they fixed it. The rotisserie chicken was very dry. The wings were so over cooked they were like leather. String beans were too greasy or over seasoned. Arroz chaufa was good as usual, no complaints there. The plantains were awful. I couldnt even tell they were plantains, they were slimy and sticky. For $30 Viva Chicken has to do better. read more

On Saturday, Feb. 15th, I was treated to take out dinner from Viva Chicken at RedStone. I fell in love with the rice! It was delicious, "separated" and perfect fried rice. 2 Days later on Tues. Feb 17th, I bought a large fried rice for $10.40 (after tax). When I got home, the rice tasted old, was clumped together and tasted NOTHING like the delicious "separated" rice I had eaten the Saturday before. I called the next morning and spoke to Alexandra about the disappointing rice. She said to come in during the day and she would make me a fresh one. When I got there, I was told that Alexandra was not there to help me. The girl that helped me argued with me about the size that I had bought the night before, and tried to convince me that a smaller size was what I purchased. SHE WAS NOT THERE the night before. At my insistence, she finally gave me the large size that I had paid $10.40 for. Didn't like her "rushed up pushy attitude" at all. Frustrated, after leaving, I tasted the rice and it was THE SAME DISAPPOINTING rice.... AGAIN. It tasted nothing like the rice that was bought on the previous Saturday evening. I couldn't understand how the meal could be perfectly delicious one day, and 2 days later the same food was kinda nasty. I will never ever eat at this location again, and WHOEVER the cook was on Saturday NEEDS TO COOK THE RICE ALL OF THE TIME. DISAPPOINTED. I could have cooked better rice at home for less than $10.40. Food was good but my plantains were burnt. The chicken was made really well the flavor was very good, i had never been and they were really nice to explain their items to me. The rice was good aswell its nothing special but it compliments the chicken ls flavor well. Only complaint is the plantains were basically black. I also decided to try the yellow sauce, i have been to Peruvian places before and this sauce was different than what im used to, (i had more of a savory sauce before). Their rotisserie chicken is super juicy and tender. Their plantains are perfectly cooked and the exact same every time I go. My son likes their sopa de pollo; I think it's mainly because the way it's served. They put the soup/ broth with rice and chicken one bowl and all of the veggies separate. This spot is great to get your fix on some Peruvian food. Would recommend this place if you are in the area, this establishment is similar to a chipotle. I would recommend getting the half rotisserie chicken with chaufa rice. Another thing I like about the establishment is that their food is authentic, I didn't feel sluggish or tired after eating. My only issue with this establishment is that they need to step up making their sauce spicier. I would come back here again and overall it was a great experience. read more

Viva Chicken is always good food and VERY filling. I was a little surprised it was not more crowded on a Sunday at 12:15 but by the time we left it was filling up. They also have a very nice patio and it was almost full. I normally get the Arroz Chaufa (it is great to add tons of sauce). But, today I got the INCA WRAP with Cilantro Infused Rice, Canary Beans, Salsa Criolla (Lime Marinated Onions and Tomatoes), Avocado. I added the Pulled Rotisserie Chicken. It was very flavorful and very large ( I took half home) for my side I got the fries. The staff were very attentive for a counter service restaurant. We were checked on several times and our table was cleared for us before I could walk to the trash and do it myself. Our group also had a 1/4 Chicken with green beans and fries and a Tacu Bowl with added chicken. Everyone enjoyed the lunch and it was not loud so we had good conversation as well. read more

Tried this spot out for the first time today. It was delish! The food was freshly prepared, veggies were crisp, & fruit was fresh. They have a station with different sauces, so I got a sample of them all. The sauces have a little bit of a kick, but not unbearable. Prices weren't too bad either. Most foods were vegan/vegetarian with the option to add chicken, so that was a bonus for my husband who is vegetarian (sometimes). Overall, I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. I was disappointed that the corn salad was a far similarity from what I would expect. I asked if it had beans (cause I don't like them) and it did.
