Social media strikes again, and wins! I stumbled across La Lima on Instagram and it was on a Top 10 Sandwiches in the USA list. Of course, we had to give it a try! It did not disappoint! The restaurant is beautiful, it feels like a tropical location. It's definitely small compared to the traffic that comes in, but they do a great job of getting through the line and getting food out quickly. I had the Sakura as it came highly recommended, and my boyfriend had the Chicharron. Both were extremely tasty and unique! I've never had a sandwich quite like this. The bread is what really sends these sandwiches over the edge. My sandwich had fresh tuna and delicious sauces/toppings. Pro tip: the salsa verde is a must! It's served down by the water and is the best I've ever had. I'd love to come back and try other options. I think the prices are comparable for the fresh ingredients and the area. You'll spend about $35 for two sandwiches, so to some this may be a deterrent. Parking was easy for us, and they do validate parking for a certain garage. I highly recommend checking out this spot!
Delicious!! Order at the counter and sit wherever, very casual. Super cute inside! Everyone working was super friendly. Menu is labeled with gluten free and vegetarian options. Only a couple of each. They have a cauliflower wrap instead of bread for sandwiches but I was skeptical and did not order. The sandwiches look absolutely incredible. My bowl was fantastic. Steak was cooked perfectly! The yucca fries were delicious, so crispy. They validate 1 hour of parking in the parking garage attached. I will be coming back!
Came for a casual lunch. The place was very busy and there was a line out the door. If you come with someone send them to get a table first because it was so crowded. You order at the counter then get a number. Your food is brought to you. We weren't too hungry so opted to share a beef sandwich. The beef sandwich: 4 stars. Hubby was pretty happy with it. Crispy bread filled with cubed marinated beef. Great flavors. Only issue is the beef kinda fall out if the sandwich. I like that the bread was not too thick. Yucca fries : 5 stars. Well done!! Tender and soft inside, crispy outside. Tastes great with the accompanying dip. Passionfruit juice: tart and refreshing. I enjoyed it well. 4.5 stars. Inca cola: has the special flavor like cola champagne (Central American cola) I would like to come back again to try their other sandwich.
We ordered some sandwiches to go for lunch at the office. Pickup was quick and easy, and the staff were friendly. The sandwiches were DELICIOUS! the sakura sammie was so fresh and tasty. We also had churros and the chocolate cake. The price point is a little higher, which reflects the elevated sandwich experience. Definitely great for a work treat. I will absolutely be back!!
I ordered the Tusan sandwich with grilled steak, Yuca fries, and chicha. Ordering is a quick counter service and then you take a number and sit anywhere. Upon first glance of receiving the sandwich I thought this was small for a $16 dollar sandwich, but a sentiment that was also mirrored by the people I was with is that, despite first glance, this was a very filling sandwich. The bread isn't fluffy or thick like a traditional sub bread or like a focaccia or a ciabatta or even like regular sliced bread. It's a very thin crusted bread with a thin soft breaded interior. The steak is cut into decent chunks and they don't skimp out on the meat so that was really appreciated. And the yuca fries don't come with many but they are THICK cut. The sandwich was absolutely delicious. The flavor was incredible and the sandwich bread allows for the perfect crusty bite and it's not too tall for a regular sized bite. You know how sometimes you order a sandwich and it's piled high with so many layered ingredients and thick bread and you have unhinge a second jaw to eat it and all of the toppings fall out? You don't have that experience here which is actually really nice. The sandwich isn't overloaded with a bunch of BS which really allows the steak to be the star of the show. The only thing I noticed was there were a few tougher pieces of meat that required more chewing but I wouldn't describe this meat as tough or unpleasant to eat by any means. Just pointing out that this is not the kind of steak that bites like butter. And the yuca fries were thick and crispy on the outside but then soft almost like mashed potato's on the inside and it was delicious. I've had yuca at several places before and these were on par with what I expected from a yuca fry. And the chicha, the purple corn drink, very sweet and spiced just as it should be. No issues Overall, I would happily return and recommend to others. The current price of the sandwich was around $16, I don't know if I'd want to spend more than that if the price increased but I felt it was money worth spent. And our parking was validated by the restaurant :)
Sakura Sandwich (5/5): A refreshing sandwich with a great blend of textures. The crunchy bread, the fresh tuna, the shredded daikon, and the fried onions complemented each other perfectly. I read some great reviews about La Lima Sangucheria, which is a casual sandwich spot with Peruvian influence, so I was excited to try the food. I came on a Saturday for lunch, and there was a line but it moved pretty fast. Seating was a bit hard to find, both inside and outside as it is a popular spot, but we were able to grab seats on a long shared table. As for service, we got the sandwiches quicker than expected, especially with the amount of people there. My friend and I split the Chicharron and Tori Nikkei. I preferred the Chicharron as the pork belly was tasty, although I wish the skin was crispier as it had more of a softer texture. It paired well with the sauce that it came with. At first, the sweet potatoes seemed to work with the sandwich, but then the sweetness started tasting a bit weird with the savoriness of the pork belly so I just removed them near the end. The Tori Nikkei had a better combination of fillings inside, but I was not a big fan of the chicken as it tasted a bit dry. I wanted to taste the fattiness from the skin (which I think was mostly removed) and the juiciness from the meat. I will say that the bread was great! It was super crispy and tasted good on its own without any fillings. For me, this place was overhyped. I can definitely see why people would like it because there are various sandwiches with unique combinations and flavors, but it did not do much for my taste palate. However, I think that it is worth trying especially if you are looking for not so typical sandwiches in the area.

Service was quick and efficient. The food came out fresh as our sandwiches were made to order. I had the chicharron which was flavorful and paired well with the sweet potatoes. My wife had the Tusan which was grilled steak. Also flavorful, very juicy. We definitely will be back to try the other options as well. As far as parking goes we had to park in the garage. There's not a lot of options for parking so be prepared to walk or park in the garage.
I have had this place on my list for so long and have heard great things and finally got around to trying it. I ordered the Tusan Sandwich and it was great! So flavorful. Steak was tender and well seasoned. Sometimes steak on a sandwich is hard because it is too tough but not here. All the flavors worked so well together. It is a bit pricier but I'll blame it on the good quality steak. I did pick up for takeout so can't really speak to atmosphere and service.
Great food options and vibes! From the time you walk in to the time you leave, you can feel the amazing Latin vibes. The staff is amazing and super helpful in making decisions and giving recommendations for food and dessert. Can't wait to go back and try some other options as well! If you are in the southend area make sure to hit up La Lima!
Came here and had my usual Sakura sandwich and loved it per usual. This sandwich is literal perfection, it's light, its kinda cold but not too cold. The flavors marry together so well and I could eat this forever. I do want to eventually try other things but it's so hard when I love this one sandwich so much. If you've never been I really recommend checking them out.
I dropped by on a Friday to pick up lunch and quickly found out that the hype is for a reason. The food was GOOD and fresh. The restaurant itself was clean and airy and the vibe was casual. I can't speak too much to the service because I did not dine in. The sandwiches are undoubtedly the star of the show. Soooo well made and prepared. Personally, I had the vegetarian sandwich (verde fiore) and it was really great. I'd describe it as a more Latin inspired take on an eggplant parmesan sandwich. My only complaint is they didn't give me enough sauce in the to-go container for my sandwich. But the veggies were fresh and well cooked, the bread was also fresh and it was a healthy portion. My husband had the butifarra sandwich and said it had the perfect amount of meat, sauces, tenderness and flavor. They also have a selection of natural juices and a few signature cocktails as well I will 100% be returning again and next time trying cocktails. Great sandwich spot.

Oh this place was GOOD. It's pretty evident it is as soon as you walk in because it was packed. My one con of this place is that there isn't enough seating to support the high demand they have. I got the Sakura bowl and my boyfriend got the Tusan sandwich. I would eat that bowl everyday if I could! It is such a unique flavor combination that has the perfect mix of fresh taste and bold flavor. My boyfriend loved his sandwich, but he said the salsa verde really made it. This place at lunch for a Thursday was absolutely packed. Parking was a little annoying to come by, but the sandwich was great! Loved the Tusa. The meat was tender, well cooked, and flavorful. The bread was nice and toasted but not too hard or dry. I got a chicha morada because you have to try it every-time you go to a Peruvian place but it was ok. The purple fries were fun but a tad dry. I liked the sweetness to them but didn't love the texture. My wife thought they were ok and liked the texture but didn't love the taste. lol It is a super busy place so we sat by the bar ans as you can see from the picture it was blowing the food lol but it was overall a good experience. However I would try a different sandwich next time. Sandwich was a 6.5-7/10 but good and would come back again. The place was fun, with a fun vibe, and service was quick! read more

La Lima was really good--I definitely enjoyed my experience. I can't remember the exact name of the bowl I ordered, but it was full of great flavor. The only thing I would change is asking for no onions next time, just based on my personal preference. Overall, a solid spot and I'd go back! read more

3.75 rating. Delicious tuna tartar sandwich. Great flavor and lots of tuna in each bite! Cons: the bread was hard and flaking off with each bite. I'm not sure why they hype it up so much. It's not great. Pricey for a sandwich with no side included :( Ambience of the place was all right. It's a little weird when there's no one else in there and all four employees are staring at you while you order. Cool vibe though. read more

I'd tried to go several times, but the line was way out the door so this time I went right at opening. The staff was friendly and the interior was beautifully laid out with plenty of seating that filled up quickly! Within 10 minutes there was a line. I got the Tusan sandwich and WOW! The steak was perfectly cooked, but the real show stopper was the sauce. The yellow Carretillero sauce was so so good! As was the side dipping sauce that came with it. Really great sandwich spot!!! I love their seating areas with great open bar seating as well. I tried the Tusan and the Chicharron, and they were both very very tasty with the crispy bread. The sauces they have on both really bring the sandwich together; my favorite between the two was definitely the Tusan but the Chicharron comes very close second with the sweet potato on it that I loved! 10/10 overall, will definitely be back again! read more

Wonderful sandwich spot!! The place is packed for lunch so if you want to order ahead I would recommend. The tuna sandwich is so yummy if you like poke. Really enjoyed the Yuka fries. The steak sandwich is great but received two different sauces so not sure which is the correct one. The steak was cooked medium to medium rare. It is a bit pricey for a sandwich but if you're looking to splurge it's a great spot! read more

Absolutely love La Lima Sangucheria! Every sandwich I've tried has been delicious -- you really can't go wrong. Don't skip the sides either; they're just as good as the mains. The yucca is my favorite, perfectly done every time. They also have an amazing variety of sauces, and honestly, I love them all -- so flavorful and fun to mix and match. The herbal lemonade is super tasty and incredibly refreshing, the perfect complement to the food. Everything feels very high quality, and the service is always friendly and efficient. Worth every penny. If you know sandwiches, good bread is essential to the sandwich, and this place has it, but the flavor combinations are tremendous. Split a roast pork Butifarra and a cold Sakura. Both were incredible. Also took home a Tori Nikkei, and another beautifully constructed sandwich. Can't wait to come back and try more. Holy moly this food is absolutely out of bounds! I had the Tori Nikkei sandwich which I dipped in a bowl of their butternut squash soup. The sandwich was so fresh and the bread was perfect. My husband had the chicharron sandwich which was also fantastic! The French fries were so crispy and yummy. I have never had Peruvian food and I was skeptical but it did not disappoint. It was a bit pricy but well worth it. I will definitely be back! We walked in a New Year's Day with the intention of dining in but it was quite crowded. We ordered our meal to go and it was speedy. Such a cute little sandwich shop! Indoor and outdoor seating with lovely decor. We ordered two sandwiches: the tusan and chicharron, and two sides: crispy yuka and tempura cauliflower. First time visiting and the place was packed..it's clearly a popular spot. I tried the Sakura (which I've heard so much about) and the sandwich was delicious and had the right balance of flavors. I've never seen a tuna tartar sandwich so I had to try it. I also had the Maracuya and that was delicious. The seating was a hot commodity so I got my food to go but I would love to go back and try other menu items. read more

This is our 2nd time trying La Lima and they do not disappoint. We ordered the Tusan bowl, a side of rustic potatoes & a chocolate cake for dessert. The portions are always so huge that I don't end up finishing it. The rustic potatoes are seasoned so well & crispy I'm still thinking about them. & the chocolate cake was delicious. The food here was really good. Peruvian Japanese fusion food pair really well and Irish pleasantly surprised with how the sandwiches worked so well. Finally made it here after hearing about it when they first opened and so many people raving about it. Couldn't get myself to try it because the price was steep in my opinion but oh man I was so content with everything that I got. Of course I had to try the Sakura sandwich as I am a huge sushi and poke lover. Never knew tuna could belong on a sandwich until now. Highly recommend - the fish was soo fresh and the bread was nice and toasted. Paired nicely with the micro greens and spicy sauce it comes with. What a delicious little sandwich spot! I've been here twice now for lunch and both times it's been super busy, which honestly makes sense because the food is so good. When: Two weekday lunch visits, dine-in Overall: 4.7/5 - The food is amazing and the sandwich is totally worth it. Just wish the takeout and seating situation were a little easier. Food: 4.8/5 - I always get the Sakura sandwich. It has raw tuna, crispy onions, micro cilantro, daikon, and this yummy sauce all on really good bread that's crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It's such a delicious sandwich and I really appreciate that they don't skimp on the tuna, especially since it's $18. It's definitely pricey, but you get what you pay for. Next time I'll probably get it without the daikon--just a personal preference--but I love the crispy onions and the sauce. Everything just works together so well. Service: 4.7/5 - Service has been solid both times I've gone. They're friendly and efficient, but since it's a small space and always busy, it can feel a little hectic. They recently started offering takeout, but it's only through Uber Eats which is kind of inconvenient. I wish they had their own online ordering system or phone-in option because seating is so limited and takeout would be a great alternative. I really loved this place! Stopped by during a weekday lunch rush but still managed to find seating and get our food fairly quickly. I got the Tusan sandwich with a side of yuca. It has the most tender, marinated steak I have ever had, which is perfect for a sandwich like this. The flavors are all amazing! I was not a huge fan of the dipping sauce it came with, but the sandwich as is was saucy enough that it doesn't feel like it's lacking anything because of it. The yuca was also outstanding and the sauce they pair it with is perfect. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of yuca that comes with it. The inside is very modern and clean. As for parking, the garage next door is free with validation. But the employees recommend that you eat first and validate after, as you only have about ten minutes to exit the garage free of charge after they scan your ticket. read more
We came with an appetite and high expectations and La Lima exceeded! The menu offers bold and innovative variety of flavor combinations in the sandwiches which each come with great sauces and are served on crispy yet soft bread which is perfection. We came as a group of four and shared four sandwiches (as everything sounded delicious we had to try as much as possible). The Chicarron was our favorite overall - with crispy yet succulent pork belly on a bed of sweet potatoes with a delicious sauce that I had to keep dipping our fries in. You have to try the Sakura - which is a tuna tartar - something I've never had in a sandwich before. The Calle 8 was a tasty Cuban style sandwich and the Burrifarra was also delicious. We could barely squeeze anything else in but had to try the desserts which looked amazing - and were glad we did as the Suspiro was divine. I hope to come back and enjoy more of the pastries next time. They also offer many of the sandwiches in bowl format, and offer a selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks with your meal. Although I did dine in, I'm going to review this as though it were a takeout. The reason? The line for food was out the door and the door stayed open the whole time. It was uncomfortably hot in the restaurant. That said, in future, I will definitely be getting takeout! The Italo sandwich was fantastic! Perfectly balanced meat and vegetables, not too saucy, and on the best bread I've had in South End. I can't wait to try something else! Interestingly, while sitting and eating, I overheard at least three people say that it was the best sandwich shop in Charlotte, and I'm not sure I could argue with that! read more
