Food was good, service was good. Their menu was ok. Ordered the 3 tacos and asked for a combo and it wasn't something they offered. We pushed our request and the manager came over and finally agreed to giving us 1fried and 2 blackened fish tacos. It was a build your own taco which was nice. Street corn - 2.5 out of 5, not sure if because we asked for the spicy sauce on the side, could have had more cheese on it. Best thing I had was the Cucumber Martini! Viva is always a must stop when I'm in the RGV for work. It's worth the drive, trust me. I've actually been sat in the same spot each time I've eaten here, too, which is just fine since it offers the best view of the water. The servers are always polite and helpful. Very attentive also. This last visit I got the blackened fish tacos. They were soooooo good. The papas bravas were super tasty as well. We went on Friday night around 6pm. Was told 35 minute wait for a table with shade and we agreed. The whole restaurant is open air with fans on the bay. 2 level bay deck tables with umbrellas on most. 35 minutes later we got a text and we're seated. Server was amazing. Explained menu and made surey dietary restrictions were met (vegan). The other ordered tons of plates...the best they said was the yellow fin crudo. The roasted brussel sprouts had popcorn shrimpixed in. I think they were unnecessary. The sprouts alone were amazing. Cocktails were great and well balanced...not super sweet. Seriously, best food I've had in south padre. I've been going for a while now and don't really ever know where to go and the places I have gone for dinner haven't been that memorable. However, this past time we came across Viva and I saw a lot of great things about the food and service. Plus, the are right on the water so that is a huge plus. We had the corn appetizer was good & a little spicy. I had the shrimp del torre & my partner had the wagyu burger. For dessert we shared the brown butter cake. It was a little dry but still good. Both were phenomenal! I still think about the meal there and wish I could go back again but we live 5 hours away. The service was great I wish I remembered our servers name but he was very kind & great with kids. FYI, Must have reservation! Book through instagram. First attempt was a bust because we didn't have a reservation. Fast forward to our next visit with our kids I booked a reservation a week in advance. I got a reminder text the day before which is fine. As we are heading there 20 minutes early I get another text saying my reservation was canceled because I did not confirm it!?!? Idk why I would need to confirm a reservation that I clearly made! I don't unusually blast places but what's the point of making reservations? We arrived 10-15 minutes before our scheduled reservation and they took us, probably because they were not busy, thankfully. Location is great, on the water. We ordered the ceviche to start it was decent. Flavors were great. Fish looked fresh. I had the salmon al pastor, it was tasty. Husband ordered octopus app as recommended by our waiter, it lacked flavor he said. My son got the fried shrimp, he said it was crunchy. My younger kids had the popcorn shrimp. This place was highly recommended by a family member to us. I guess we had high expectations and we came on their off day. We would probably give this place another shot and hope for the best. Our food consisted of a Street Corn appetizer with a red sauce, a Cauliflower Steak, a great shrimp dish called Shrimp De La Corre and some drinks from the bar. The drinks were ok. We were hoping drinks that weren't just the taste of alcohol, since we got Pina Colada, but alas they were. This is the only thing we were a little disappointed at. Everything else was fantastic. But we chose not to eat there because of the disappointing appetizer. I really wanted fish tacos, but I was afraid that they would also follow suit again on a positive note are welcome was positive and the young lady at the front was very welcoming. There was an hour and a half wait but we slipped in at the bar within minutes. We wish this business Well it is a beautiful establishment. Tried a new place for us on SPI to celebrate the wife's birthday. We made a reservation and asked for a bay overlook table. We barely had our drink and the table was ready. Beautiful view of the bay. Nice outside area. Waiter very nice and always there when needed. The wife started with a spicey margarita and I had an old fashioned. We then got an appetizer of shishito peppers. Could have been a bit more charred but good. The wife started with the beet and goat cheese salad. Yes she said. Then the yellowfin crudo. We took 1/2 the salad home. The food is great, that's what made this three instead of a two. Don't plan on getting parking here on Friday nights when the 5 minute fireworks show is happening, even if you have a reservation, people will park in the parking lot even if they're not eating there. They will not enforce parking either. The staff both times have been rude and very dismissive. Twice I've been and haven't been able to find parking, I even showed up an hour early and still wasn't able to find parking. Management needs to do a better job with their hostesses as we are the paying customers and should feel welcome. read more
