It was my last day in South Padre Island, so I decided to wrap up the weekend with breakfast at Josephine's Kitchen. I ordered the Barbacoa Benedict, an iced coffee, and a waffle. The barbacoa was tender, flavorful, and well seasoned, while the poached eggs were cooked just right. The waffle and the rest of the meal were perfectly fine--nothing particularly memorable, but nothing to complain about either. My only real disappointment was the iced coffee. It was overwhelmingly sweet and lacked the coffee flavor I was hoping for. Overall, it was a pleasant breakfast experience, and I'd gladly give Josephine's Kitchen another visit the next time I'm in town. There were other menu items that caught my eye, and I'd love to see how they compare. read more

We had good food here and were seated quickly. The portion sizes were large. I had the chilaquiles and it could have fed 3 ppl. My niece had the kids pancakes and she also had a good sized portion. The matcha was very tasty. The parking lot is small so plan accordingly. Would definitely return to try other things. read more

We stopped by Josephine's Kitchen on our last day at SPI after seeing all the buzz on social media. The place was packed, but we were lucky enough to get seated right away. The menu had plenty of tempting options, but my husband and I both went with the chicken and waffles and added a side of hash browns. We couldn't resist also ordering the pancakes to try. We each had an iced coffee to go with our meal, and it was delicious. The chicken and waffles did not disappoint crispy, flavorful, and a generous portion. The pancakes were fluffy and tasty too, but after digging into the main dish, we ended up boxing most of them to go. The place was packed so we expected a wait; not too bad maybe 20mins and they text you when your table is ready. The wait staff was attentive and quick to turnover and clean tables. They have a good selection of American and Tex Mex options. We decided on your standard American breakfast. Everything was freshly prepared. The restaurant has a good selection of flavored Mimosas. Everything about our visit to Josephine's was great! We were visiting SPI, and this was our first stop, a recommendation from our condo. I ordered avocado toast which came with two poached eggs, avocado slices, tomato slices, and hashbrowns. I ordered coffee as my beverage. My husband and daughter ordered sausage and biscuits with gravy. Everything was served as ordered and was great! Kudos to the kitchen staff! Special shout-out to our server, Maria Del Rosia, and hostess, Irene, who was glad to answer my questions about the cafe's namesake. Both Maria and Irene were awesome! We went there for breakfast with 4 adults, 2 kids and a baby. It was 9:00 am and we were able to get right in - minutes ahead of the crowd and a wait lost. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful and readily moved two tables together so we wouldn't be crowded - which we appreciated. Some of our party had the typical eggs/bacon/sausage/hash browns and pancakes all of which were prepared exactly as ordered and all of the food was hot and fresh. We had one order of French toast which had a great flavor - just a hint of cinnamon. Another had the crepes which were also really tasty. The remainder had omelets which were also very good. This was a very solid breakfast choice with a very friendly and accommodating server - props to her. The food came out very timely and our orders of pancakes to go for others also came out quickly. The gentleman that served us tried his best and helped make our experience great even though I'm sure he was busy with other customers.
