    Latte with hazelnut

Had to come back for breakfast but this time with our kids! It wasn't busy considering it was raining out but still fast service! Husband got the chicken and waffles, my son ordered 2 waffles and only ate one (took the other to go), my younger kids split the pancakes and I had Gabby's French toast. Minus the to go waffle, everyone cleaned their plates! I only took a photo of my latte with hazelnut! It was too cute!

Updated review front my last visit almost a year or so ago. Still a great place very festive for the holiday season . Service was on it today food was super awesome we came for the same dish we had last time... It's the best in the area.

This place is a gem! I loved the vibe, ambiance, and the prompt service. The dishes were satisfying and came in generous portions, so we definitely didn't leave hungry. Everything was enjoyable, and I will absolutely come back the next time I'm in town.

We were looking for a breakfast place and seen good reviews. It was on point. The place is very clean. Service was excellent. And the food was so delicious. The coffee was just how we like it - a dark roast. Definitely a place I will return to.

Mango orange smoothie was delicious despite waiting 25 minutes for it to

We waited for 45 minutes which was no big deal, with the high reviews I thought it'd be worth it. But then.... We waited 25 minutes for our drinks.... 4 drinks.... THEN the waitress took our order, even repeated it back to us, and yet somehow got it wrong. So we then had to wait for it to be remade. It wasn't just like she 'forgot tomatoes', she straight up brought us the wrong meal. THEN when we get the check, she charged us for the wrong meal that she brought!!! I was livid. Not to mention the fact that the soap dispenser In the 90-degree bathroom was filled up with water... seems pretty cheap for such a busy restaurant. Never going again.

I really enjoyed going to Josephine's kitchen for breakfast. It was packed and lively with a lot of people enjoying breakfast. Even as busy it was the staff kept up on refilling my coffee and making sure that my overall breakfast experience was great. The food was flavorful and the price was fair for the area.

This was our first time coming to Josephine's in Port Isabel. We had only been to the one at SPI. Definitely had a great experience at this new location. The restaurant is very nice and the staff was all very friendly. We enjoyed a nice quiet, delicious breakfast during our Anniversary trip to SPI. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. We like this location better.

    Best fluffy pancakes

Wow! Amazing food! This place is now our go-to spot for breakfast or brunch. Everything is so fresh, made to order, and most of all so delicious! The wait staff are all so friendly and service is top notch! The pancakes and waffle were fresh, light and fluffy. Plates are plentiful and delicious. The chicken & waffles were the best we've ever had.

Visited on a Tuesday morning early. The only customers were law enforcement. We had a nice table by the window. Server very nice. I had a great cup of coffee and the wife got tea. We both ordered the rooster. We could have split it!! For $9.99, we got 2 eggs over easy and over medium, 2 pieces of bacon, crispy shredded hash browns and waffles. You can get sausage and pancake if you want. So much food and the waffles were YUM YUM YUM!!! We split my waffles and took the wife's home for breakfast tomorrow. Great place!!!

Just as delicious as their SPI location, but the ambience here is so much more bright and open! We waited about 20-30mins but the time flew by since you can enjoy the Lighthouse and little shops/galleries of Port Isabel right next door :) the cafe also has a little gift shop inside with cute lighthouse miniatures. The service overall was quick during peak brunch hour and our waiter was friendly. The mango mimosa was refreshing and my friend enjoyed her cappuccino as well. For the food, I got the barbacoa benedict which was loaded with toppings and delicious! Josephine's portion sizes are always super generous so you can make a lot of dishes shareable. The hashbrowns are perfectly cooked and it was hard to not eat every last bite! Lastly the cinna-stack pancakes were AMAZING - my party of 6 shared it and we still had some leftover lol. It truly is like a cinnamon roll but pancake form! Only wish there was maybe a littlee bit more icing on the top because it's so good. I hope I can come back again soon!!

Came here because the coffee looks amazing and it did not disappoint!…read more The latte and cappuccinos look visually appealing but if you're looking for a real cappuccino this might not be for you. It definitely seems like they just put a bunch of foam on top but it still tasted good. The waffle is also crispy and fluffy. The salon lox bagel is also so pretty but the large onion slices were too much. Service was great and they do get really busy.

I arrived around 10:30am on a Friday, and although the restaurant was packed, was seated immediately at the bar. Our server greeted me promptly, took my drink order, and returned with my Spanish Macchiato. It was easily the highlight of the meal--absolutely five-star worthy. Not only was it Instagram-worthy, but it tasted just as good as it looked. Creamy, rich, and infused with notes of Mexican chocolate and cinnamon, it was one of the best specialty coffees I've had in a while and the artistry was incredible. For brunch, I ordered the CLEO (a lox bagel with egg) and the SPI Breakfast Platter. The CLEO had great flavors--the smoked salmon was fresh. My biggest critique was that the soft bagel, warm egg, and lox lacked a bit of textural contrast. Even so, the individual components were delicious. The SPI Breakfast Platter was hearty, well-executed, and exactly what you'd hope for from a classic breakfast. I'd love to come back the next time I'm in South Padre and try their lunch menu, the dessert case was very enticing.

Trying new places in the area around SPI - 1 of 2…read more One night, I was craving something like meat loaf. One of the long running restaurants on the island - Padre Rita Grill - used to have it on their menu, at least one night a week. Padre Rita Grill has closed. It was a 3 to 4 star kind of place and it would have been convenient. In hunting around for diners, I found Bayside Cafe. It's close to TX 100, beyond Port Isabel in the direction of Los Fresnos and Harlingen. They get very good reviews and they had a meat loaf special one day of the week. I got there in time to make sure they didn't run out. So, I think I've figured it out: Taco Tuesday, Filet-O-Fish Friday, and Meatloaf Monday are all alliterations so that they are easy to remember and work with. Bayside Cafe is exactly what I expected: small, quaint, and folksy. If it's comfort food you want, they have it. The meatloaf was a good sized portion and the mashed potatoes helped. I enjoyed it. The price was appropriate. The service was much like the locale - quaint and folksy. In other words, that means they were friendly. I'm going to bring this up because, while funny and predictable, it took away from the meal. Upon entering and being seated, I saw that they had Fox News on. People started to leave and the restaurant thinned out. Some of the remaining seated patrons made comments along the lines of how Fox News leans and one or two of the employees agreed with some understated but still understandable banter. It never fails. With a waitress in San Diego who looked like she had majored in saving the whales at UC Santa Cruz, she was curt to our table because I, or we, looked like "the establishment." Here, at Bayside, sporting short hair with no facial hair, and wearing clean jeans and a polo shirt, I must have been seen as tribe, so people just proceed to talk about their spin on current events in front of me ... or directly to me. Both parties would have guessed incorrectly. I look at these anchors up on the screen whose silver spoon factor is off the charts and you've got small town Americana, who they would probably snub, helping them succeed? What's up with that? I had a feeling that, as the herd was thinning out, this experience would come down the pike before I left ... and it did. Check it, please. You get up and pay at the register when you leave if using a card. I had a good meal, got the meatloaf I was looking for (and isn't as easily found as people would think), and headed back to the island. I think I understand the dynamics. Bayside Cafe isn't on the beaten path, so not on the island nor even in the shopping areas of Port Isabel. It's a little ways up from TX 100, so my guess is that they pull in more locals, which includes retirees from nice subdivisions, and fewer tourists, and "understand" their demographics through that lens.

Ok, so you have this on, but I can do without the commentary from customers ... and even an employee or two. It's not a pub.
