As a gluten free person this place is not recommended. I got an açaí bowl and just removed the granola and it came out looking awful, everyone in my party thought I was served a bowl of slime. The taste was bland as well. As for my parties meals they deeply enjoyed their dishes and drinks. So as long as you don't have a gluten allergy you can enjoy your meal here. I also wanted to include that they do not have any dedicated friers. read more

Had to come back for breakfast but this time with our kids! It wasn't busy considering it was raining out but still fast service! Husband got the chicken and waffles, my son ordered 2 waffles and only ate one (took the other to go), my younger kids split the pancakes and I had Gabby's French toast. Minus the to go waffle, everyone cleaned their plates! I only took a photo of my latte with hazelnut! It was too cute! read more

Josephine's Kitchen & Coffee Shop - Chilaquiles divorciados. - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Port Isabel, Texas

We went on a Sunday around noon. It's obviously packed as it's a tourist area. We waited a little bit over about 35 minutes to be seated and another 40 minutes to get our food. The food was ok. But nothing special that we would return for. What made us feel like we would never return was the fact that as you went further into the restaurant the hotter it became. The front was fine it was comfortable but we had a table in the back area. It was so hot and stuffy. Unfortunately with the combination of just ok food and it being so hot we will likely not return. read more

Josephine's is one of our favorite places in SPI The staff is very friendly and always checking on you and the food whether breakfast or lunch is amazing. The restaurant is clean and has a great atmosphere. We also found the most amazing hot sauce I'm going to buy a bunch before we go back home! read more

I really enjoyed going to Josephine's kitchen for breakfast. It was packed and lively with a lot of people enjoying breakfast. Even as busy it was the staff kept up on refilling my coffee and making sure that my overall breakfast experience was great. The food was flavorful and the price was fair for the area. read more

Ordered orange juice and was given a mimosa size cup and when I brought it up they said it was the same serving as a normal cup. They argued that while the mimosa size cup looks smaller it was the same amount as the bigger cup with ice. When we spoke to manager about it they refused to a refill. When they said it was the same size I asked about the difference of straw sizes and the manager said "okay." And walked away. Overall food was a bit under seasoned the hashbrowns and eggs tasted plain. 1/5 service 3/5 food read more

We waited for 45 minutes which was no big deal, with the high reviews I thought it'd be worth it. But then.... We waited 25 minutes for our drinks.... 4 drinks.... THEN the waitress took our order, even repeated it back to us, and yet somehow got it wrong. So we then had to wait for it to be remade. It wasn't just like she 'forgot tomatoes', she straight up brought us the wrong meal. THEN when we get the check, she charged us for the wrong meal that she brought!!! I was livid. Not to mention the fact that the soap dispenser In the 90-degree bathroom was filled up with water... seems pretty cheap for such a busy restaurant. Never going again. read more

The crew was very sweet and kind. We got there when the restaurant opened, with the great reviews we expected a lot from the restaurant. However, the "fancy coffee" which is a hot one was cold. "led boster" was also cold which had eggs, hash browns and bacon. The açaí bowl was really good though. read more

In trying to find a decent breakfast place in Port Isabel we came across Josephine's. It is a gem and well worth seeking out - particularly when you are going to watch a rocket launch. Good food without a menu with all the same items that every breakfast place seems to have. Waffles here are one of my favs. A pretty little area surrounding the restaurant, too. read more

This was our first time coming to Josephine's in Port Isabel. We had only been to the one at SPI. Definitely had a great experience at this new location. The restaurant is very nice and the staff was all very friendly. We enjoyed a nice quiet, delicious breakfast during our Anniversary trip to SPI. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Visited on a Tuesday morning early. The only customers were law enforcement. We had a nice table by the window. Server very nice. I had a great cup of coffee and the wife got tea. We both ordered the rooster. We could have split it!! For $9.99, we got 2 eggs over easy and over medium, 2 pieces of bacon, crispy shredded hash browns and waffles. You can get sausage and pancake if you want. So much food and the waffles were YUM YUM YUM!!! We split my waffles and took the wife's home for breakfast tomorrow. Great place!!! read more

Breakfast this morning: bloody Mary @11.99 ordered, charged $14.99 due to server deciding it should be Tito' which is didn't ask for. Ordered Josephine sampler- " do you want French toast, waffle or pancakes?" Ok, French toast- upon receiving bill- $3.99 unchanged. I wasn't told that. CLINCHER- Sterl shavings from the dishwashers cleaning scrubbie in my hash browns. The "manager" said -" I'll take care of you". STEEL SHAVINGS. Yep she took $15.00 off the bill. Upcharge Upcharge Upcharge!!! THEN $15.00 CREDIT FOR SHREDDED STEEL HASHBROWNS. Sorry for typos, cursor will not allow me to back and correct. What joke- never again. Just as delicious as their SPI location, but the ambience here is so much more bright and open! We waited about 20-30mins but the time flew by since you can enjoy the Lighthouse and little shops/galleries of Port Isabel right next door :) the cafe also has a little gift shop inside with cute lighthouse miniatures. The service overall was quick during peak brunch hour and our waiter was friendly. The mango mimosa was refreshing and my friend enjoyed her cappuccino as well. For the food, I got the barbacoa benedict which was loaded with toppings and delicious! Josephine's portion sizes are always super generous so you can make a lot of dishes shareable. The hashbrowns are perfectly cooked and it was hard to not eat every last bite! Lastly the cinna-stack pancakes were AMAZING - my party of 6 shared it and we still had some leftover lol. It truly is like a cinnamon roll but pancake form! Only wish there was maybe a littlee bit more icing on the top because it's so good. I hope I can come back again soon!! read more

Best breakfast that we have had so far! Yummy pancakes, waffles, coffee, and reasonably priced! The rooster is the way to go! Friendly service and great atmosphere! read more

This location is a much better experience than the original south padre island (SPI) location. The space has been totally renovated from the previous tenant for the better, with an open floor plan and additional windows added. The SPI location needs the same revamp. The staff is courteous and friendly and prices are relatively fair, exception being the $8.00 bowl of oatmeal with "hints" of vanilla and cinnamon, I mean geez all you get are hints for a item that cost $0.35. But I digress, portion sizes for the other menu are just stupid, if you order any side dish of egg, multiply the number times three if you order it scrambled. Same for hash browns. A short stack of pancakes can feed 3-5 people, Food is out pretty quickly as well. The only con is the parking situation, there is much onsite and street parking can be an issue with so many other restaurants nearby open for breakfast and brunch. This place is a favorite with the locals as well as visitors. read more

Really, really good food. The atmosphere just felt really nice as well. Live music while eating breakfast was a surprisingly relaxing setting. Prices were very reasonable, which was a nice reprieve from restaurants on the island soaking us for every penny all weekend. They seated us instantly on a Sunday morning at about 10am. We were looking for good breakfast food, and this place met all the expectations. The breakfast is so good, and my dad loves their coffee. We ordered the chilaquiles and the açaí bowl. The food took a very long time to come out (about 30 minutes). By the time it was served all three of us had finished our drinks. The waitress never came by for a refill. The açaí bowl was melted when it was brought out. It had the consistency of soup. The waitress told me that's how it's made. I returned it and shared the chilaquiles with my wife. They were ok. Also, while using the very small bathroom, I had to wait for three of the boys who work there to quit playing around in front of the single urinal. Then after I used the restroom, they were still there standing in front of the sink joking with each other. When I said excuse me, they didn't move. I've eaten here before and it was better but this will probably be my last time. read more

This place was delicious! Great spot in the town, easy drive from south padre island, and the service is so kind, attentive, and fast! The first time I went I got the chilaquiles and they were so good I ordered them the second visit!
