My mother has resided at Vivante for almost two years. She previously resided in a nice senior living facility but it did not compare to the facilities here. Vivante is amazing, there are countless activities, the amenities are very upscale and the food is something you won't experience anywhere else. For the past five + years both our parents have been living at Vivante Newport Mesa, dad on the apartment side, and mom in The Shores where her dementia continued to progress. While what clearly was a life changing decision originally, moving into Vivante has proven time and again to be the best for both. Sadly, we lost our mom last month after an incredible fight she had been putting up for the past few years. Her last ten days truly showed us the incredible "loving care" by so many of Danica Coronel's TEAM. Now, over the years I have visited the facilities hundreds of times. I have gotten to know many of the caregivers, nurses, medtechs, servers, etc., and I have always felt good when leaving that my parents were in great hands. It is always clean and in good condition. We have enjoyed many great meals, met many residents & their families, and created some good memories (under the circumstances). Those "last ten days or so before her passing," REALLY opened my, and many of my family's eyes to the true depth of passion & caring of SO many of the Vivante staff (On the apartment side & especially in The Shores facility). From the smiling greetings by Jojo & Julie, the always positive Vince, Danica & Olivia, the incredibly joyful Alyssa (and mom Debbie), Krista, Ashlee, Elizabeth, Zoila, Jesus, Angela, Pilar, Irizella, Sara, lovely Aricelli who would make mom a nice cup of hot chocolate with a smile & warm words, to the cooks & servers, there are many more to mention. Koodos to Vivante! Just days before my mother was admitted to Vivante, she experienced the heartbreaking loss of the love of her life. As a former Skilled Nursing Director, I knew it would be hard to find not just a care facility but a true community for her. She was my main concern. From the moment we arrived, we found exactly that! Danika, the Director, leads with compassion and strength. Olivia, the coordinator, brings a level of organization that made the transition feal seamless. Julie the secretary, greeted us with warmth every day. Making The Shores feel like home. Kaytlin, the activities director is slowly bringiing my non social mother back into life with her creativity and genuine joy. The employees ooze happiness with their jobs. The service is exceptional and its truly is a 5 star resort for the elderly. The menus are beyond brilliant and the food quality is a chefs kiss! The entertainment is beyond amazing, with numerous grand events to entertain family and the residents. Vivante isn't just an Assisted Living or Memory care facility. It is a touch of elegance that I am putting my name on the waiting list soon! I couldn't be happier with the care my mother is receiving. Vivante Newport Mesa is without a doubt the most luxurious of senior living facilities available. The staff is amazing. Everyone from the medical care team to the waiters and waitresses who serve the tenants breakfast lunch and dinner on cloth table linens (not to mention the food is fantastic). My father spent several years researching where to live while maintaining his independence. He moved into Vivante when he was facing challenges at the age of 96. Renee and Adriana and Selene are extremely helpful in answering questions and assisting us in coordinating his move in. The dining staff is very accomodating and kind. The staff helping with services are terribly kind and understanding of his needs. IT was great getting his room set up for internet and TV. Maintenance was available to help with any questions of getting the room set up. In my father's words, here is a phone call he left for a friend when he moved in. My sweet mom was in the assisted living for four years and now has been at the shores memory care for just over two years. The care at vivante has been extraordinary! I have never worried for one moment that my mom wasn't getting the care and attention she needs. Everything is done with excellence and professionalism. The shores director, Danica, has been so wonderful from the moment we moved mom over. She cares so deeply for the residents and the families and has created so many wonderful programs to give the residents a good quality of life and also so many fun opportunities for the families to come spend time with their loved ones and enjoy great entertainment or a special brunch. Danica has always been available to me whenever I need anything for my mom or just support as my mom's disease progresses. The caregivers are also wonderful and always treat my mom with respect and kindness. Vincent at the shores has been our "guardian angel" and goes out of his way to meet the needs of my mom and just be a constant friendly face for her each day and she is always happy to see him and I know values the time she gets to spend with him. They talked us through all of the considerations, gave us many options and helped us think through how to decide. NEVER did they hard sell us, which was so appreciated, after having experienced that at other nearby places. I am so very grateful my Mom was at Vivante Memory care unit, The Shores, during her hospice days. The staff was so very kind to my Mom, always calling her by name, with compassion in their voices. All took amazing care of Mom. and even took care of me and our family at her bedside. Special thanks to Vincent, who told me, "We all grieve with you" The amazing Director, Danica, went with me to talk with Dad, who is at Vivante in assisted living, to encourage him to visit with Mom. He was hesitant to visit, but thankfully did so with her kind and compassionate recommendation. Somehow Danica always has the unhurried time to take care of both her patients and their families. Ziola, the care giver for my Mom, was particularly kind. She told me she made sure she was with my Mom as she took her last breaths. She provided me that great comfort. My mother lived in the Assisted Living section of Vivante for one year and I can't say enough platitudes for that section of the facility. However, I moved my mother to the Shores memory unit at Vivante in December 2021 and it was a poor decision. I am a former social worker and worked in child welfare/geriatric psych hospitals. I have licensed/investigated foster and group homes for safety issues in my career. I regularly visited to my mom and found her not showered or groomed. She smelled. I found feces on my mom's bedding after housekeeping told me they cleaned. I was offered a 14,000 dollar deal for a double private room. I was told the room could be locked. The room was across from the activities room and other residents used it as a hangout and stole things non-stop. My mother was not allowed to stay in her room due to fall risks and kept long hours in her wheelchair in the large gathering room. Staff often were no where to be found when I tried to call them for help. I visited every few days to clean my mother's room and monitor things. I had to change her linens as they were often made up with dried feces on her sheets, mattress pad and blankets. I noticed blood on my mother's sheets mixed with urine. I notified the medical team that my mom was having a UTI and why did the staff not notify the medical team about blood? One day, I had to take my mom to an important specialist appointment. I arrived to pick up my mom on a cold rainy day. My mother was in inappropriate clothes for the weather. My mother's hair was not combed and she smelled horribly. Dried stool was on her wheelchair. She was lethargic/sickly. I had to cancel her appointment as she was so ill. I found out that no one called me to tell me that my mom vomited all the night before due to a stomach bug at the Shores. And, that they had yet a per diem staff who helped with my mother that morning. Further, I found out that my mother lost 11 pounds over the past two months and no one notified me or her doctor. Family and the physician are to be notified at a 5 pound loss. Staff told me if I wanted more care at the Shores then I needed to hire my own personal staff on top of paying the 14,000. I hired my own personal caregivers. Outside contractors who provided services to my mom reported issues they saw such as my mom needing to go to the bathroom and Shores staff ignoring her or not coming to help my mom when they requested assistance. The outside contractors risked giving me this information. I voiced my complaints to administrator, Jennifer Kornmann. I was given 2 months partial refund due to the "contentions" I was alleging. Those are Jennifer's exact words " contentions". I knew at that moment that the Shores stopped being a partner in my mom's care to treating me as a "enemy. A more professional response would be "we need to work on making things better for you and your mom." Jennifer was condescending and was inauthentic in her apologies because few improvements were maintained beyond a few days. When I gave my 30 day notice, I was told my mother had 18 behavioral issues. I was told of some behavioral issues but not this extent. This was a huge concern as I could have consulted with my mother's physician about increasing her medication. Now, I was trying to find a new placement that would be willing to accept my mom with behavioral issues and it takes at least 2 weeks for new medication to kick in. Another failure of the Shores to communicate with me and was inexcusable. Administrator, Jennifer, did recently resign. I moved my mother today, not a single staff wished me luck or said goodbye. I was always friendly and apologizing for any tasks I needed help with. This unprofessional send off was characteristic of the cold and unfriendly caregiving staff that I consistently observed. BTW, my mom is now in a board and care and is doing fabulous. She is clean and groomed every day and her bed linens are always clean. The staff are friendly and really know how to interact with dementia patients. My mother is taken outside and she isn't kept in front of a tv all day. They encourage her to exercise. Her behavior issues are almost none. Shores, you get a failing grade. I do hope the new administrator considers family feedback and makes true changes and helps the Shores to become more like their assisted living. Update: the new administrator is Bob who was incredible at the assisted living section. He reached out to me to hear my concerns. I believe he will bring the Shores up to a higher level of care. read more

We moved our mother in last summer and we could not feel better about her new home. The staff is amazing. The personal touches and care for detail really have my mom feeling safe and secure. She smiles and jokes with the staff and when the subject of returning to her home comes up, she doesn't want to leave Vivante. Our plan is for this to be her permanent home. My parents moved in to the Vivante one week ago and so far everything has been fantastic. The people there are so caring and they do a great job making sure your family is taken care of. They take care of all the medication and all the food and everything they need to live a great life. On Mother's Day we were not allowed to eat in the main dining room because of Covid and we have a big family. So they opened up an extra dining room for us and treated us all like kings and queens. The food there is unbelievable. It is like living at the Four Seasons. If you're looking for a place for your parents to live and be taken care of this is a place to be. This place is such a gift. My mom-in-law has been living here and the staff and fellow residents are so loving and kind. The place is gorgeous and the food and activities are reminiscent of being on a cruise ship. The quality of the food is absolutely amazing- my favorite is filet mignon Fridays. The parties they throw for holidays are beautiful feasts, rivaling buffets at the better hotels- but for a fraction of the price if Mom wants to invite guests. The best part is that we know that no matter what Mom goes through, this place can handle her care and she'll never have to move again. I never realized this fantastic of an assisted living center existed. The only challenge is that it's so terrific there's a 6 month waiting list. read more

Five stars isn't enough. In my wildest dreams I wouldn't have expected a place like Vivante to even to exist. My mother moved to Vivante after being in a well-regarded facility that was simply not meeting her physical needs and she was declining rapidly. Because my mother knew somebody who had moved to Vivante and was raving about how wonderful it is, she decided to move as well, even if we expected that Vivante couldn't possibly be as great as her friend said. Well, Vivante is as great as her friend said! At Vivante, in contrast to her previous place: * there are more activities to do in a day than she has hours in a day to do them * she's found a group of writers and other creative people to work with, with support from Vivante itself to perform one of her works * they carefully monitor her physical condition and ensure she gets necessary medical attention and physical therapy, often without leaving the building * when she needs help getting to the bathroom (or for any other reason) she is helped quickly by a patient, friendly staff * she gets help with the little things too, everything from tech support to hanging pictures * Vivante's efforts in accommodating a family Thanksgiving on premises were extraordinary * most importantly, I think it's fair to say that despite myriad physical limitations she's just extraordinarily happy and vibrant in a way she has not been in years. It can't be easy to run a facility that takes care of people who need assistance to lead a comfortable and fulfilling lives. That Vivante can do this, and do this so well, is truly a gift to those fortunate enough to live there. My mother is one lucky person to have found Vivante, and having experienced both Vivante and lesser places, she knows it! read more

My grandmother, a Holocaust survivor can be a tough person to please. I've rarely heard a compliment from her. However whenever I visit her I see smiles that used to be rare and compliments of her living situation. It's great to see her so happy. BEWARE!! We had a loved one who was nearing the end of his life at Vivante's senior assisted living facility for several months. We truly believed that Vivante would be a great place for him. Vivante assured me that he was in excellent hands with them--this turned out to be far from the truth. I learned that his "caregivers" at Vivante were using his credit card for their own personal expenses (such as their own personal health insurance) and they even forged checks in his name that they cashed for themselves. When I brought the evidence to the Assistant Director it was clear what happened, undeniable. Vivante executives didn't care about us, only themselves. Taking advantage of an elderly disabled person is reprehensible and unforgivable. Beware of Vivante - your loved ones deserve much better. read more

Vivante has changed my life for the better! I have lived here since March 10, 2021 and love it so much.I wish I could give 10 Stars, because 5 stars is not adequate. I cannot thank this incredible staff and the owners enough. At my previous assisted Living facility, Brookdale Ocean House in Santa Monica, which was more expensive than Vivante, the only thing I had was a gorgeous view of the ocean, but no activities to speak of and I was depressed. After Brookdale neglected my friend to the point that she died, I moved, luckily to Vivante. My life has changed for the best. I feel so alive again and look forward to every new day filled with the fabulous activities and amazing staff. I leave my room at 8:00 AM for a delicious breakfast in the gorgeous dining room. Thank you Chef Javier and team! Then start the fun activities which include ballroom dance class, art class, book club, tap dance class; and I am partially paralyzed, but the amazing dance teacher Tom knows how to make me successful. Then Rummikub, or Mahjongg, or Bridge, jewelry making, swimming or time in the hot tub to help muscles after dance class or exercise, poker, blackjack, Broadway musicals review and discussions, happy hour, performances from local talent, dinner in the beautiful Ritz Carlton-esk dining room, a movie in the gorgeous 40 (plush) seat theater, and then finally back to my beautiful apartment around 9:30 PM. I HAVE SO MUCH FUN EVERY DAY that I am almost too excited for the next day to go to sleep. And I have a washer and dryer in my apartment! My physical therapist reports I have made amazing improvement in my physical strength and balance and believes it is due to the dance classes. Thank you Tom!!! I no longer need my cane and am walking 10,000 steps every day, which is a first for me since my stroke. The care-givers and nurses are amazing and do everything needed to assist. Thank you Marilyn, Ramona, Devora, Jeana, and Jenny and Deisi. The activity staff is also amazing, and led by Megan, who does the work of five people - even goes to pick up medications for us - and leads an amazing team. Thank you Megan, Tom, Sally, Margie, Margo, Jannet, Laura. Then there is the transportation staff who is very caring, helpful, and all-around wonderful. Thank you Samantha, Mario, Antonio, and Rommel. One rarely waits more than 5 minutes to be picked up from an appointment in the classy fleet of Mercedes vehicles. Next we have the dedicated maintenance team led by Joe. Thank you Joe and Juan, and team! They do everything to make you safe and happy in your home. Whatever need one has, Joe quickly and professionally handles it. The IT team led by Ray is also amazing. Every need is quickly addressed very professionally. Thank you Ray Vivante seems too good to be true. But after three months of living here, I can attest to the fact that it is as wonderful as it appears. Vivante has given me back my joy in living. I can't say enough about Vivante and their staff. An unfortunate series of events got us there but I wish we would have found it years sooner. We started with a respite stay for a month which was a great way to experience things. The apts are spacious, have all the creature comforts you'd expect. The common areas are amazing, warm and welcoming. The food is incredible. Transportation from safe drivers in Mercedes Benz vehicles is a nice touch. Even during lockdown they managed to keep their residents safe, engaged, entertained and happy. Mom knew so many other residents in just a few short weeks. What really sets things apart are the people. Everyone we came in contact with was amazing. We had many unique challenges with health and care issues and the team couldn't do enough. It's hard to get our parents to realize they need a little extra help and the team at Vivante helped us every step of the way. Not gonna lie, the location isn't ideal. Mom didn't want to get out of the car. But once through the gates it's fabulous. Don't hesitate to give them a look and trust them to care for your loved ones. read more

The staff, the programs, food, and ambiance are amazing! My parents were provided excellent care with a very involved and skilled staff. They built friendships with other residents and enjoyed the variety of programs that allowed them to sing, dance, play games, etc. After reviewing many options, Vivante became the clear choice and we are very glad my parents were able to live there. It is a lovely CCC facility with excellent 5 star food service, pools and top grade living quarters, along with tons of activities and entertainment. Our cherished mother moved into Vivante after a hospitalization and she is very happy with the staff and surround services available, which she needs- Dr ordered. I want to give a five-star badge to Christina who manages the healthcare staff on the North building. Christina was an effective liaison with Hoag Hospital staff prior to our mother's move to Vivante. Christina further clarified the multiple lines of communication with a home healthcare agency we hired, with Hoag at Home, and with Vivante staff. She put a plan in place that all agreed was best for our mother. Confusion was eliminated! After the long COVID-dominated year of 2000 and the prospect of 12 to 24 more months of restrictions, I needed to make a life change. I needed a vibrant community, mental stimulation, physical activity and assistance with health concerns if needed. Was this possible given all the COBRA restrictions? Yes, all that and more! After several months of research, one place topped the list of senior residential communities in Orange County, Vivante on the Coast. I heard about the beautiful facilities, the outstanding meals, the daily range of fitness classes in the new state of the art fitness center, iPhone and iPad assistance, book club, cards, an outdoor doggie park for residents and their pets, lounges with large screens for watching sports, etc., art studios, hair salon, transportation services. The list goes on. Since moving to Vivante, however, it hasn't been all these well-thought out facilities and activities which I am thoroughly enjoying which makes it home for me - it is the compassion and thoughtfulness of the staff at all levels of the organization.
