As soon as open enrollment for insurance was available, I made the move as fast as I could. I have never had a bad visit here. I've ALWAYS received the best care possible. As someone who is a zebra when they typically treat cows (referencing my very complex medical history) they've handled it with superior care, concern and streamlined servicing. I've had everything done from physicals, lab work, physical/cognitive therapy, specialized treatment plans and about anything else you can imagine-- including surgeries contracted through UW Health Systems. Yes, there are preapprovals required for certain types of concerns, but I've never had an issue with paperwork going and has been done with little to no effort on my part. My doctor is Kyoko Felland and I ABSOLUTELY love her attention to detail and focus on my overall health. She always knows me and my concerns without having to look up my chart. I enjoy seeing her so much, I'd consider her a friend if it wasn't awkward. :) My husband had another PCP but after my stellar experience with her, decided to make the witch to GHC as well. After arriving only a few minutes late, I was told that my appointment had already been canceled and that I would have to wait for another opening. I received no advance call or text notifying me of the cancellation. The entire process was extremely frustrating. When I first called urgent care, I was told to go to the ER. Because I wanted to see my primary care provider, I called for an appointment but was told that nothing was available and was directed back to urgent care. I then drove 30 minutes each way while in pain, only to have my appointment canceled because I was a few minutes late. I did not have time to wait indefinitely for another opening and had to drive home without receiving care. People do not visit urgent care because it is convenient or enjoyable--they go because they are in pain and need medical attention. A healthcare provider should show at least some understanding when a patient with a painful leg injury has difficulty walking quickly. Canceling the appointment immediately, without a call or text, showed a troubling lack of consideration for the patient's condition and time. This experience raises serious concerns about GHC's scheduling, communication, and patient care. Patients deserve better.

If you don't know your way around Meriter, it's best to go to the information desk before you try and find the perinatal clinic. The clinic is located inside Meriter Hospital. They also use MyChart or there's is called MyUnityPoint or something like that... so you can check your appointments or even do the e-checkin which I've never done. But I guess that's an option if you prefer doing that instead of talking to the reception desk. Scheduling my appointments were really easy. I have to have three appointments a week here and with Dr. Lick @ UW Union Corners. It's difficult but they just want to make sure the baby and I are doing okay. So as long as my baby is doing well, I'm okay! The clinic is always clean and organised. They have complimentary tea and hot chocolate which is amazing given the change in weather!!! It was a little confusing trying to figure out where to go but the reception of both buildings were great. I was recently seen in the SSM Neurology clinic for migraines after having to switch from a UW provider due to insurance change. I was incredibly impressed by the genuine care, attention to detail & time spent with me as a patient. Upbeat appointment start by the MA prior & superior care by Dr. Cristina Murphy. I was blown away by the amount of time she had prepped reading my past chart with notes taken & overall preparedness for my first appointment! This has not usually been my experience with past providers. She was genuinely compassionate & ready to try new options, as well as explained things my other providers had not. I'm really looking forward to working with her. She sent out new Rx's for approval & it was completed in 2 business days. Very pretty building. Nice, large (kid friendly) waiting room & easy check in/out (via reception or touchscreen). The only thing I'd change were that while I got a nice reminder text the day before, I got a call from (a very friendly) RN to come in a bit earlier for all of the new lengthy paperwork. I can't drive & had made my transportation plans around the time the text said the day before. I feared that I was facing a stroke and could be paralized at any moment. When I was ushered to my room on the 7th floor I was greeted by nurses and staff who quickly and efficiently worked to prepare me for the many tests I would receive. Nurses were giving me assurance as I was stuck with needles and tubes that were taped to my arms. Discs were stuck my chest. Nursing staff and doctors asked questions and were patient to listen to what I had to say. I'm 82 and am not knowledgeable to the many medical terms used but found I didn't have to know. Medical teams worked for 2 days to get to the correct diagnosis and now I am happy to be back home with my family. Thank you, Saint Mary's Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin!

I had a molar infection and a broken tooth needing a root canal. I was having fevers, swelling, discomfort, etc. I went in soley asking for antibiotics and mouthwash. I also asked what extra measures I could take to help with my pain. It is tricky with having crohns and taking NSAIDS. This question was targeted towards holistic approaches. Instead Neszta took it upon herself to flag me in EPIC, and accuse me in her written note of seeking drugs. This is a detrimental allegation to make especially to someone who has severe chronic health issues and multiple autoimmune diseases. Every person who I spoke with about her at that clinic, and past paitents all have nothing good to say about her. She talks over you, makes you feel stupid, will not assess you, and will make up her mind about you before you are even seen. She said she is unable to prescribe antibiotics. We had to speak to the Union Corners director to get mouthwash and antibiotics. I am so disappointed in the sheer disrespect, lack of empathy, and crude behavior from her. To go out of her way to try and ruin someone and make allegations is serious.

Then, check in again at your appointment desk. The COVID questions at the initial in person check-in isn't the issue. That's standard and less annoying but why the triple check-in is beyond me. I arrived at 9:30am to my final check-in within the ten minute window for a 9:20am App to be told they'll need to reschedule me. Ahhh no. I called and was told as long as I'm here within 10 minutes then I'm good. Mind you I checked in online from the prior appointment with meriter. Walking from West Washington to Park & Regent I was able to cut the time. But low and behold the appointment can't be honored and must be rescheduled due to more appointments booked. Y'all everyone is overbooked. This appointment was an annual. Now I'm learning it was scheduled for 20minutes. What annual takes 20minutes? I'm leaving the country in days. I'm leaving the area in hours. All of this was known prior to the appointment and again I called from the last appointment as I walked over.

You get bounced around a lot with bureaucracy. I just started going to SSM Health and management is far better!
