We called Hoffman Bro's first because they deal with both, and they charged us ~$300 to tell us the same thing as Spire and suggest we call a chimney sweep to check the flue pipe for blockages. We couldn't find a chimney sweep that either could be booked within the month to inspect and give us an estimate, and if they could be booked in that time frame they didn't understand the problem we described and wanted us to fork over hundreds to inspect and sweep our flue. Luckily, an acquantance gave us Crestside Ballwin's number. The receptionist called Dave over to learn about the problem and within a minute he figured that the roofers we had over a few weeks ago probably botched the install of the new flue pipe cap. They had a tech come over two hours after I called and sure enough that was the problem. Anyhow, these guys were solid for us, I'm super thankful we found them.

The lady on the phone was very nice and scheduled a tech to come out the very next day in the morning. My time window was 8am-12am. I received a text and an email confirming my appointment. On the email link, you can also see the name and picture of the tech that will be coming out. The next day I received an alert at about 10am notifying me that the tech was on the way. The status email showed me his GPS location! I thought this was a really nice feature, it gave me an idea of about how far he was away. Justin was my HVAC tech. He wore a mask and shoe covers when he entered the house. I explained the issue I was having, and he first took a look indoors. He quickly found the problem was a leak in the evaporator coil. Justin presented me with all my options and facts and let me make my own decision. At no point was he pushy or trying to sell me extra services. I had some other HVAC questions, and he welcomed those and answered them and provided good suggestions. Since one of the options was a full replacement of my unit, on the same day I received a call from the Dole sales rep. He said he was able to come out that same day to give me some options of replacing the AC unit. He was courteous, came out, took a look, and we spoke through options. I was provided quotes on the same day within about 15 mins. I was very impressed with Dole and will definitely be using them again for any HVAC related jobs!

However, recently they did a bid for an AC system, and we ultimately chose another company whose bid was lower for a better system. I called today for another AC unit that was out, and their office person told me bc we chose another company for that work, they put other, better customers ahead of us and could not service us for the time being-- as if we're being punished for not giving them the business. She said we did not call to follow up on their bid. It's THEIR responsibility to follow up on bids. We've paid them many thousands of dollars over the years. Super unprofessional IMO. Goldkamp actually responded faster and has cheaper service call charge.

Horrible experience. Had a toilet leak that leaked into our kitchen. Thomas arrived and was very…read morepolite. He took a picture of the hole in the ceiling then a picture of the toilet upstairs. He told my husband it would be $360 to remove the toilet to see what was wrong. My husband specifically asked ok so if you remove the toilet do nothing and put it back it will be $360. Thomas said yes. He said if he had to replace the flange it would be a little over $900. My husband asked him to leave. The "service" call included no service. He only took 2 pictures and did nothing else. The service call was $70. So we basically paid for him to ring the door bell and take pictures. No diagnostics done. I called the company and the manager called me and said he wanted a mutual resolution. He offered nothing but an explanation of how much his truck cost and his overhead which is why we had to pay the "service" fee even though they did absolutely nothing but take pictures. He must have "explained" his overhead to me 5 times and thought what his plumber did was acceptable. Called a different plumber. He came out and fixed the problem in 30 minutes for $175 all included. Under no circumstances would I use this company. They are not honest and definitely over charge. BEWARE
