What a great evening - we loved it!…read more We booked a Sunset Dinner Cruise prior to leaving the US for our NZ/AU cruise. There were 4 of us in total. We arrived to the marina early, went to the Captain Cook Cruises desk and got our tickets, then had cocktails outdoors nearby. As the line to board got longer, we finally joined it. Once they opened up for boarding, the line went very fast. As we had window seating, there were no worries and we got a fantastic table location. Drink and dinner orders were taken right away. Bread was served shortly and it was really good. We asked for more and they brought more. Dinner was excellent as was the harbor cruise. After passing the Opera House, we docked near the International Cruise Terminal and most passengers got off. There was one more stop that some stayed aboard for. We stayed. As this point, the sun was setting and the skyline was lighting up with building lights. We went to the top, open deck with fresh drinks. Some of us sat on the deck chairs and us shutter-bugs moved about the deck taking pictures from both sides. We got some amazing shots. The dock we ended at was not the one we started at and we knew ahead of time. We disembarked and grabbed an Uber back to our hotel. I've read a lot of reviews about this cruise. Some loved it, some did not. Our experience was very favorable and we're happy that we took it. Thank you CCC for a great evening.

It is a big job to keep over 2800 people happy on board a ship for nearly two weeks but I think…read morethey did it OK. The "Voyage of the Damned" reporting of the gastro bug was just the usual over reporting and not accurate at all. This ship boasted restaurants, specialty restaurants as well as the buffet. We ate at the Japanese specialty restaurant and it was a nice experience. The buffet was poorly organised, had long queues and encouraged people to pile food so they didn't have to come back and queue again. The restaurants were the pick. They all had the same menu which changed each evening and as long as you were a seafood fan, you were well catered for. There were plenty of swimming pools, with and without kids. The usual entertainment you have on cruise ships plus art auctions (I really don't understand why you would think of buying a painting on a cruise but that must just be me) The highlight of this ship is its Japanese baths. Nude and segregated bathing was timetabled for the morning and evening. You could wear your cossies during the day if you were shy. It was an excellent experience. We travelled around New Zealand in a clockwise direction and the most spectacular scenery was in Fiordland (I can now appreciate Slartibartfast's work)
