MONEY-GRUBBING DENTAL PRACTICE Have you ever been "fired" by…read moreyour dentist? That is what happened to me by the money-hungry Natalie Lawson who bought Karl Lutes' dental practice. I'm in shock. Karl Lutes was my dentist for 30+ years, and his father before him. The last few visits, the practice kept trying to steer me to Natalie and a dental hygienist other than Michelle, who was there for 20 years (and no longer). Due to schedule constraints I worked in an appointment last month, I was surprised by a new hygienist and Natalie. I'm 70 years old. I know my teeth. I know what dental services I want. When I squeezed in an appointment in my busy travel schedule, I wanted a teeth cleaning and a checkup. NO! I told the hygienist to skip the expensive x-rays and proceed with the cleaning. She ran and got Natalie who said she wouldn't treat me unless I had the big-dollar x-rays before. I said, "NO", and she said, "Then I'll walk you out to the front." Imagine my shock after 30+ years with the same practice. I was fired as a patient. Ironically, Natalie's money-grubbing practice of demanding x-rays is in contravention of established good dental practice. Current ADA guidelines call for dental X-rays to be performed only after a dentist has peered into a patient's mouth, not before, and only if there is a suspected issue are X-rays to be taken. I know Karl's practice was a good one and she has to pay big dollars for it, but I'm not going to subsidize her and, if I were you and your wallet, I would avoid her at all costs (because it WILL COST you).

Really like the friendly staff here and the personalized patient experience. The appointments tend…read moreto run pretty long --45-50 minutes for a cleaning--and the office itself isn't the most modern, but it's a great experience for a low key approach to dentistry.

I wish I could copy and paste from my Google review, but I can't. All in all, I am so glad that I…read moremade the switch to Smith & Elliott after my previous, nearby, dentist dropped Delta Dental. The office is upbeat, caring, kind, and you feel important like you've known them all your life. I didn't feel like my teeth were the worst ever and the dental hygenist didn't ask me if I brushed my teeth. I felt like my issues weren't the worst ever, they could be fixed and I was told by the doc and hygenist that it was clear that I DID brush and take care of my teeth. Not everybody has perfect eyesight, skin, etc. Some people have weaker teeth and more plaque buildup or whatever. I'm sure that most of us wish that we had perfect teeth! That's how they have their jobs and they do a fine job at caring for those of us who sit in their chairs more frequently. I highly suggest Smith & Elliot Dental Associates!

I made an appointment for a consultation and was able to be seen quickly, however that appointment had to be rescheduled and the delay for that appointment was quite lengthy. Once I arrived to the office I was not seen immediately. It didn't appear there was a dental emergency. just more appointments that there were hands in mouth. I finally was taken back to a well used exam room and subsequent trip to x-ray as I was a new patient. To this point, my review was a solid 3 stars at best. Then I finally met Dr. Elliott. I was very, very impressed with his interpretation of what I was going thru and we did have a few candid moments of proposed treatment which in all honesty I was expecting. Now I am on the wait list to get another appointment. Sigh, honestly, this is a first for me, being put on a wait list, so like in the airlines, if I don't get cleared for a seat, I'll have to go to "plan B".
