I was looking for a closer dentist since mine was about a 45 minute drive. This one came highly recommended so I gave them a call. I was surprised at how easy it was to set up a new appointment. I have been a few times now and here are some of my favorite things about this practice. 1. Its clean, comfortable and wait times are never long. It helps that HGTV is usually on in the lobby because I don't get to watch it at home! 2. I get the same hygienist every time. I've been three times and had the same lady clean my teeth. I really like her. I am not sure if this is intentional or a coincidence but it makes me feel more at ease knowing what to expect and by who. 3. The text message reminders! Part of my issue with getting my teeth regularly cleaned was scheduling it. I would always forget and was never comfortable scheduling in advance because I HATE cancelling appointments and my employment can be unpredictable. They text and remind me of upcoming appointments a week in advance, giving me time to adjust if needed. I highly encourage people to check them out. They also offer sedation for people who need that for their dental visits. read more

After MANY years of being a patient here, I've finally decided to take my business elsewhere. The lack of communication and follow-up has been beyond frustrating. Appointments are constantly messed up, and getting answers or updates on treatment plans feels impossible. It's disappointing to leave after so many years, but I can no longer trust this office to stay organized or communicate properly. I WILL NEVER recommend anyone to ever go to this office. I've been working with this office since October of 2024 where I've spend over a thousand dollars and used multiple PTO days to get a tooth removed, which the cancelled on me twice day of the appointment because the took my money but didn't order the product they said they would. Had to wait two whole months while I had a tooth falling out of my head from then chipping it in a cleaning. Then have me come in for a scan to get my implant and they go out of their way to tell me they'll call me when they receive it so they don't cause anymore scheduling conflicts... Sent me a random bill in the mail to pay for a service I assumed was from the scan. Well come find out that nobody has ordered the implant at all. The doctor doesn't even work at their practice anymore. And now they're just recommending me elsewhere and act like they're just wiped clean from this whole situation. This has been the most unprofessional situation I've ever had in my life. PLEASE really rethink any decision you make before you decide to move forward with this place. read more

This place doesn't care about the patients. The dentist has road rage issues because he can't get to work on time. The anesthesiologist will purposefully hurt you if the road rage doctor tells her to. She forcefully pushed on my mouth so hard that I couldn't speak or yell to tell her to stop. My entire face swelled like a softball. I went back to see what was going on and the doctor said that happens when you have a tooth extracted. No it doesn't. The whole staff was rude and the place resembles a dungeon. I'd find another dentist before I would ever step foot back in that shithole. read more

I had an accident when I was 12. I chipped my 2 front teeth while sliding down a zip line in a metal chair...I cracked them on the metal bar that slides down when u sit in the chair. I have had them worked on many times. But this time? They made the shape all wrong, and the worst part? They could not find a bonding color to match my surrounding teeth. So here I still am with 2 yellow front teeth. Dr. said my teeth were "too white"! Having this procedure is painful and even though I need to fix it, I'm scared. I used to smile all the time. Since this chair side veneer (basically a bonding) by Edgewood Dental, I do not smile or show my teeth anymore. They can't know how much that procedure made my daily life so much different, and sad. read more

My 20 yr old daughter goes to this dentist and the front desk girl, Madison, was incredibly rude to her over insurance. My daughter was confused about our MetLife dental and our Medical Insurance card, Aetna. Madison was rude about my daughter's inexperience with insurance. Edgewood Dental should review cameras on 4/9/25 at 350pm to view had attitude and horrible customer service!!!! There is zero need to treat the customers that way. WARNING- I did not get past the first phone call. They wanted $300.- $500 for a consult. I just had my dental work redone and I shopped around and I had full scans of my entire mouth as well as 20 minute consult to sit down and make a plan for absolutely free. Dr. PEAK is Excellent. 1st visit I had Dr. McMahon. He said I needed crown & may need root canal but won't know until he gets into it. Set up appt for crown. Before crown appt, I had cleaning appt. At that time Dr. McMahon said don't think he can do crown & don't think Dr. Malyals can even do root canal & may need extraction. Referred me to Dr. Malyala. Dr. Malyala charged me $300 for 3D xray which I had to pay out of pocket. He will try to do root canal but thinks crown should be attempted first. I told him to call Dr. PEAK to discuss. I had got my crown procedure started with Dr. PEAK & everything went fine. He was gentle & answered all my concerns. McMahon scared me & won't go back. I feel like they owe me $300 for referring me to a root canal doctor when it was not needed. Why he suddenly changed his mind.. I do not know. I will go to Dr. PEAK from now on. P. S. I have been a patient at Edgewood Dental Care for years. Everyone is always so kind and professional. Dr McMahon is very precise and has the patient's best interest at heart. It's easy to afford especially with their in-office insurance plan, for those who are not on a dental plan. Also, they know that your time is important and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes. They also have state of the art dental equipment and keep very accurate records. I would NOT recommend going to this dental facility. Since I moved here in June of 2019 I have been having been going to Edgewood Dental Care. At every appointment they sneak in additional items and hit me with the bill. This past time I was hit with a $200 dollar bill after asking before they started doing anything if my entire visit was covered by my insurance. I am not sure if this is just a constant oversight, or if this is their way of getting money out of their customers but it is bad business. They blamed me for their mistake instead of fixing it. I have shared my story on Nextdoor and received similar feedback from others who have been scammed by them. Resident of Independence - "I had the same experience at Edgewood Dental. But every time I went, they said I needed it again. Finally I got a second opinion. Not only did I not need the root and scaling at all, but the dentist I went to for the second opinion told me that all of the procedures could be done together and there was no need to drag it out for months. I come from a dental family. My Father was a dental tech and my uncle was a dentist. So I have been around it all my life. I had a filling come out and since my uncle no longer practices I was in need of a new dentist. I found Edgewood Dental on Angie's List and was rated very highly. Well, I can see why. I was greeted with a welcome bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and even a granola bar. The "greeter" was a very pleasant woman that walked me through the paperwork, described the process and gave me some background on the dentist that was going to work on me. When someone says "painless" I tend to question them. There is always a little pain. However, I have not had a better experience in a dental visit. I barely felt a thing! Everyone was pleasant, had a sense of humor and took the time to explain what was about to happen and what just happened. Dr. McMahon has literally changed my life! I wrote to the office in desperate need of help. I had struggled with substance abuse in my twenties and now with 5 years sober and an important job in the Substance Abuse treatment field I still had the teeth of an addict. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST UNLESS YOU'RE SUPER RICH! Because they'll treat you like crap regardless of how long you were one of their patients in the past. If you have a bad issue with your teeth they will pass you around the office dentist to dentist making you wait longer to get anything done even causing you to loose what you have left on your insurance for that year. IF you need to be seen for an emergency and have a tooth that is hurting really bad (bad enough for you to sit 4 hrs at a dentists office who DOES see people for emergencies and pay this dentist $420 to extract 1 tooth without sedation) well then do NOT call Edgewood Dental cause they DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR PAIN! So cannot stress to you how much AVOID them at all costs. They are very expensive and only care about how much $$ they can make off you. Plus they are arrogant and rude. I found this office from a friend who had been going to Dr. Gutman for years. I thought I would give them a try because they were on my insurance plan and because they came highly recommend by my friend . I can you I am so happy to have found this place. Although super friendly, I'm afraid I have to warn people from going to Edgewood Dental. There months ago I had three fillings done by Dr. McMahon for what I was told, during my cleaning and x-rays, were "very small cavities." I was told during the drilling that they had to go really deep and that I may experience some tooth discomfort for a couple of weeks. My teeth still hurt. read more

I was really excited when reading the reviews for Edgewood Dental Care. When I called the office in regards to teeth whitening prices the lady who answered the phone refused to tell me. She told me I had to set up an appointment. I told her I would feel more comfortable knowing the general prices before setting up an appointment in case they were higher than I anticipated. She was curt when she told me that she could not do that without an appointment. The dentist I see here is Dr. Peak. I decided to try this dentistry after having a horrible experience with the previous dentist I saw. I had had a cavity caused by the former dentist not redoing a filling right and the problem had gone on for a long time. Edgewood Dental Care was able to get rid of the cavity and do the filling right. I have been very happy with their service. They have the dental hygienist do the filling instead of the dentist. I thought that was strange. The one filling they redid had to be shaved down, but that was a super easy fix. The place lets you watch TV while they work on your teeth and the seats have a heating option. The staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. read more

I want to give 5 stars because Dr. Peak and Dr. Kramer were awesome as well as their Dental assistants. They made me very comfortable and I felt like they cared and they did an amazing job on a procedure i just had done. However the staff/billing department seems to be a bit unfriendly and not very willing to help. Every time I called them they seemed irritated with me and just wanted to get me off the phone. I got wrong information about my insurance, i set a date for my procedure and it was never recorded and they made me feel like I wasn't valued. The dentists and hygienists here are great but the billing department is not very good. If you have anything more than a routine cleaning, make sure to call and follow up that they actually billed the correct insurance company. Nothing like getting a bill for $800 in the mail and them saying your insurance rejected it when they actually sent it to the wrong company. :) All in all, it's worth it. read more

My experience with Edgewood Dental Care has been excellent. Dr. Dale Gutman is an extremely knowledgeable, caring, and gentle medical professional who makes sure the treatment and procedure are top priority, and that I understand everything that's going on, as well as the billing charges. Dr. Gutman made sure I had his cell number and has without hesitation come into the office when it was closed to handle a dental emergency for me just before I departed on a business trip. His dental assistants, hygienists, and office staff are top of their field as well as being highly personable and caring. I am deeply thankful for everything they have done for me over the years, many of which were clearly above and beyond their call of duty. I would never consider going to another dentist, unless they were part of the Edgewood Dental Care office. I cannot say enough good things about them. read more

This is one of the best dental care offices I have been to. They handle such a wide variety of services. ALL the staff is very friendly. Your first visit you get a nice welcoming goodie bag to take home. They will make you feel appreciated every time you come in. They even have a cool little waiting area where coffee, water, soda is provided free of charge. My son had to have this wisdom teeth removed. I was having trouble coming up with the amount owed (the difference of what my dental insurance doesn't cover). No worries.......they were able to work with me on this. He had the surgery and all is well. My family will continue to be patients there for a long time. read more

Very poor customer service. I gave this office two chances at first I thought it was a great place but after a routine filing I was experiencing sensitivity on one side of my mouth making me unable to chew on that side. I went back to Edgewood dental several times to try to fix the problem but they couldn't figure out what was wrong. This went on for several months without them finding a solution pretty much telling me to deal with it, so I decided to go to another Dentist and get a second opinion. Which I did and the problem was pretty simple, I had a cracked tooth and needed a root canal. You think that wouldn't be that hard for a Dentist to figure out. So I gave Edgewood a second chance since they were my current dentist office. Before doing this I called around to a few other dentist offices to I was dealing with several different dental offices trying to get insurance information on what ma root canal would cost and Edgewood Dental was the only office I spoke to that didn't offer to help me get this information. What makes it even worse was they were the only office that I was actually a current patient at. When I spoke with my insurance provider, as instructed to do by the women I spoke to at Edgewood Dental, they told me the Dentist office could give me the info I needed, so regardless to say there workers are just too lazy to try and help their patients out. In the end I choose to go to a different dentist even if that meant more of a cost for myself. Definitely would not recommend wasting your time on this place when there are so many other dentist offices out there, with staff willing to help patients. read more
