Vivint is one of the worst alarm companies. Although you are a paying customer, you will also be an EMPLOYEE to Vivint. Anytime there is an issue and you call them, you ALWAYS have to troubleshoot the issue (rebooting the system, change batteries and wait up to 5 minutes before you put it back, unplug things, turn on and off your breaker, check WiFi....). These are just some examples of being a customer and employee to Vivint alarm company. I even had the system hardwired and it's still an issue. Vivint always let you know that if they have to send out a technician to your house, they will charge you a $100 fee. So don't think that you paying for this service would include the company to check out their system which could be flawed or outdated. There is also a delay in the "activity" loading onto your phone. It is very annoying because there is always an issue every month. When the "smart" thermostat acts up you are not able to turn your heat or central air on and it's an issue from the vivint end (not the HVAC or heating system). Another issue that experience each time that I call is that the phone calls take longer than they should have because the representative is repeating himself over and over again with the issue told to him. I plan to get rid of them even if I still have payments on my plan. DO NOT GET THEM!!!! The ring is sooooooo much better. If I could leave zero stars I would. They are terrible and they do not listen. I paid a bill for my parents home only to still be unable to see the cameras from my phone. The app gives me a phone number to call to reconnect my service (which shouldn't be since I'm paid in full and they're still deducting monthly) and when I do, there is no help. I tried to cancel and they stated there is a loan for the equipment and I couldn't. The technician never came out to help and I'm so sorry I ever went with this company. A complete nightmare! Very Incompetent, Very Ineffective, Never Trustem - and that's how you spell Vivint. Dude, you can't even secure my appointment and you want me to trust you with my home?! Tuesday 1:30 - Booked appointment for the following Sunday Tuesday 2:30 - Rep called me back and said he had open appointments before. Scheduled for Thursday 4-8 Tuesday 4:00p - Received confirmation for Thursday appointment Wednesday 6:40p - "Supervisor" called and said they had to cancel my appointment for that day because a technician called out. Told him my appt was for the following day, but if it had been for today, why are you calling me DURING the time slot to tell me it's cancelled? Said he would call me back in a half hour. Never heard from him. Thursday 9:06a - Rep called to confirm my appointment for FRIDAY 12-4. Oh boy, here we go again. Explained the issue and told them that I needed a 4-8 slot. Rep kept insisting that I take 12-4, and that I should "have a family member or friend" come for the appointment if I couldn't be there. First of all, you don't know my life. Don't waste your time. I'm regretting the decision I made to switch over from ADT. The doorbell camera is terrible. It's constantly disconnecting. The camera does not show whose at my door when the doorbell rings. There's a picture of someone who came to my door a month ago. DO NOT USE VIVINT!!!!! When i tried to discontinue my service they would not listen...kept offering me deals. Finally had to stop her and tell her I had another service already and it was a done deal. Then she tells me I had to send a letter to cancel. This after waiting for over 45 minutes on hold. Just sent the letter, hopefully it will finally be cancelled. Something tells me this is not the end yet. read more

One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. If you have a question or problem you will wait at least 15 minutes on the phone. Chat agents only follow scripts and are not worth the time. Had a problem on their end with billing and had to go through multiple channels to resolve. I would rate Vivint with zero stars if it were possible. read more

My experience with Vivint was not good. They charged me twice for my order and it took almost two months to get a refund. Also, my first installation visit was canceled and I had to wait to get another appointment. Then they sent me an outside contractor who didnt know what he was doing. It took him all day to complete the installation. The cameras and locks did not work and I had to call for another agent to come and repair what was done. The second rep advised me that the cameras, alarm and locks were not installed correctly. The installation done for the camera could've caused damage to my home because the wires were crossed and not done correctly. The second agent had to remove the first installation and add a new camera. Regarding billing they charged me the full amount that should me a loan by error which took over a month to fix. I was told my credit was processed but instead of giving me my money back they gave me credit which I refused. Eventually after over 12 or so calls everything was corrected. I still have issues with their cameras and locks and the sensors do not work. I have to call again for another agent to come out and fix the issue. After installation of a security system you should feel safe and now I don't really know. read more

Bought into this to help my Mom. She passed away and Vivint would not allow me out of the contract. Had to pay a buyout for the rest of the contract. NOTIFIED them in writing four times. To end the service. They just wanted me to okeep and move the service. After that they never turned the service off and monthly billed me. I had to call and demand to speak to a supervisor. Ultimately told them I am ripping it off the wall and they better not notify the police. It's off my wall. Police haven't responded but still waiting to get back the monthly payment they took. There are many more companies who have surpassed Vivint in service. Once they have you. They treat you like crap. read more

My friend who has this Security System has the Worst Customer Service. Made 4 appointments to fix his alarms & none of them were kept. No follow-up calls, no texts, & no note on the door saying that the Tech was there. This is a company that their Corporate Office is in Utah?! Stay far away from this Company until they work out the kinks of their Communication with their Techs in an Out of State Area, & provide better follow-ups. I have this security system at my house,with a 5 year contract, for the first 2 years everything was going smooth. After that I had a problem with my lock I called Vivint and they told me that they will mailed me the lock and I had to installed it I asked them that why don't they send a technician and i was advised that i had to pay for it. When I signed this contract I was told that they would take care if I ran into any problems. I'm a disable person and now I have to install locks, sensors and what ever problem I have: I also signed for an automatic monthly payment and they charged me for the lock not once but twice since I have 2 doors. I called and I was told that they made a mistake by charging me and they will credit my account. Well it took them 4 months to credit my account and every time I called they gave me the round around. Horrible service! If you are tech savvy and not in need of consistency with a working alarm company then this company is for you! They give you all this "free" equipment then charge you an arm and leg for the install which you don't know up front. Next the doorbell (which in my opinion is the most important camera) is super unreliable! One day it works the next day its offline, just like that! Don't worry you can call their representatives and get a hold of them but you have to do all the leg work. Restart modem, power off alarm, reboot alarm, reboot doorbell, disconnect doorbell, turn off your electrical panel, run back to doorbell and panel about 5 times. This is what my weekly routine is with this company. Like I read on another persons review they're super unreliable! Then you sign a 5 year contract to make the experience better. This company just sucks! I'm in the process of switching since I don't care about the contract. Just this week alone 1- my doorbell monitor/sensor didn't work and 2- the panel showed my front door as "open" even though it was closed, so I couldn't alarm my house! WARNING DO NOT USE VIVINT SMART HOME ALARM. On July 13th a salesman from Vivint Smart Home was in my neighborhood and offered to install a 'Smart' alarm system in my home for no fee as they make their money on the monthly monitoring charge.I told the salesman that we already have an alarm system and he said it's OK as it's only a trial basis and I could go back to my existing alarm system if not satisfied. 'Benjamin', the salesman told me we could have the control panel in our bedroom, he also told us we could put the outdoor camera on our shed in the backyard facing the rear of my home. Two hours after the paperwork was signed 'Daniel" the technician came to the house to install, this was at 9:30PM on a Wednesday night, Daniel didn't leave until 2AM and still wasn't finished. He had to call for help at midnight as he couldn't get certain things installed/working. Daniel told us we COULD NOT put the control panel in our bedroom as the signal from the doorbell won't reach the bedroom?? and that we COULD NOT put the camera on the shed because we needed a dedicated outlet. When asked why Benjamin would tell us that we could do those things, Daniel couldn't answer. Daniel stated he would be at my home at 4PM to finish the job but didn't show up until almost 8PM, after I had contacted Benjamin to complain that Daniel didn't show up as promised. The outdoor camera wasn't hardwired instead they ran a wire through my siding into my dining room and plugged it into an outlet, same for their control panel which they had to place in the kitchen and ran a RED wire to an outlet in my beige room. My wife and I weren't satisfied and cancelled the alarm 4 days later (we had a two week TRIAL PERIOD before we were locked in). A different tech came to remove their system and that's when I discovered that Vivint had cut ALL the wires from my ADT alarm panel so it doesn't work. They left some king of white plastic box with NO markings that they used to adapt their system to the ADT system. They also cut my cell phone relay for which they had no use as the can speak directly to you through their control panel. I was told by ADT that if they cut the wires without powering the system down that they probably 'fried' all the equipment and that would need to be replaced after the wiring was repaired. I sent Vivint claims the ADT repair estimate and I've been on contact with Vivint since JUlY 17th, specifically Marissa Hayes from their claims resolution department. She refuses to have her techs come out and repair the damage they did to the alarm system and she will not pay the fee ADT is charging me to repair all the damage Vivint did to my alarm, her last response is to 'let her know if I'm taking this to my attorney so she can turn it over to legal'. This company gets in your house, butchers your equipment so you are stuck with them and doesn't make good on all the damages they've done. I have four children and no alarm, fire or smoke detectors. Do yourself a favor and stay away from VIVINT. read more
