It's just ok. It is an airport restaurant. Very loud and full of bawdy British hen drunkards getting their drink on. That was a bit predictable, but still annoying. Not as annoying as the fact EVERYWHERE and EVERYONE asked me if I had any food allergies - honestly, it was a bit over the top. I had a very simple meal of sparkling water, Caesar salad with a piece of salmon, and a side of green vegetables. Done well. Very nice waitress; I left her a cash tip. Love the breakfast spread! Made to order eggs and omelets, fresh delicious pastries, everything for a full English breakfast (baked beans, hash-browns, mushrooms, tomato, black pudding, sausage, and bacon), hummus, olives, salad, charcuterie, made to order waffles and pancakes, juices, oatmeal, and more! A server will bring you coffee which is nice and everything else is self serve. We ate breakfast here twice and enjoyed it. Dinner on the other hand was good, but not great. Service was terribly slow and we had to track down our servers for drink refills and to pay. Tried the gourmet beef burger and it was pretty good. My parents loved the fish and chips. My husband also enjoyed the Alfredo pasta which was more like a carbonara but still tasty. If you order still water it's $5 for a bottle. Come for breakfast and be patient if you go for dinner! read more

We waited at the bar for Vivre to open and were first in the door for dinner. The dining room filled up very fast, I think on our next visit we will likely reserve a table in advance. The restaurant is very welcoming and spacious. You can see some of the chefs working their magic. After a long journey in the cold and fog, the service and the food saved the day. Once our waiter visited our table we placed our order after quickly studying the menu. The portions served were satisfactory. We dined on the classic ceasar salad, cauliflower soup, shepherd's pie, and the pork belly. We ordered dessert to go, (a very American thing... but we were absolutely exhausted). Vivre is the restaurant located within the Sofitel hotel. I dined here for an early dinner and would definitely suggest coming close to opening or having a reservation made. This spot gets busy quick as it's really convenient for those staying at the hotel who don't want to travel into the city for a meal. Decor was pleasant, nice atmosphere. The restaurant was clean and spacious and they have one of those open concept kitchen where you can see the cooks and the food being made. Service was 4 stars. They were quick to seat us and our waiter was nice. They also have a lot of bussers and help on the floor so it felt like service moved quickly. There was only a little bit of a lag time at the end when getting our check, but otherwise average service with nice staff. The menus bigger then I expected and had a nice variety to accommodate many different tastebuds. I started with a Pimms Cup Cocktail which to die for. It's my go to drink when in London and the presentation was super cute. For food: Started with the burrata salad. 3.5 stars. Average. Refreshing, a little skimpy on the burrata but plenty of tomatoes and the dressing was good. Fish & Chips: 4.5 stars. Delicious and presentation was A+. Big and beautiful cut of fried fish. Crispy batter and the fish was so good. Also good tartar sauce and of course a classic pairing with the chips and mushy mint peas. Ribeye: 4.5 stars. Classic grilled ribeye but had a nice char and flavor. Better then we expected for an airport hotel restaurant. Cooked a perfect medium rare, would definitely order this again despite it being on the pricier side. All in all this restaurant is super convenient and the food / service was 4.5 stars. We stayed at the Sofitel Hotel and were pleased to see that it looked like they had a good restaurant. We booked at the restaurant and had a very good experience for the first half of our meal. It seemed like once the food had arrived and the waiter asked if we needed anything and if we were happy with the meal, he then completely disappeared. My husband had the pork chops and I had the risotto. Both were good, the issue I have with the restaurant was that we never saw our waiter again. We finished our meal let the plate sit in front of us, no issue we were looking forward to dessert and an after dinner drink, but the waiter never came. My husband thought if we stacked the plates and put them on the end of the table it would be impossible for the waiter not to notice. that did not happen. It was at least 10 minutes before my husband was able to get his attention and he ask if we wanted anything else, by that time he could see we were upset, gave us no apologies. Just acted as though nothing had happened, there was no way we were gonna order a dessert after such bad service. We had been in Paris, Somerset, Oxford, and London, in fact we left our London hotel and decided to stay at the airport as we had an 11 o'clock flight, and needed to be at the airport early so we booked this hotel as we had been impressed with Sofitel in the past. The hotel was fantastic but having such a horrible experience at Vivre we would just stay in London and get a car service. Maybe it was just a one off bad experience, but it really put a damper on our last night of an incredible vacation. read more

My husband and I had dinner here once while staying at the Sofitel Heathrow hotel, where this restaurant is located. The Sofitel is next to Terminal 5 and a parking garage. The ambiance is very nice with small hanging white lights and a quiet ambiance. (Some earlier photos show a lower ceiling and no hanging lights). There is a pricier restaurant in the same hotel but it likely offered a bigger meal than we wanted. We were very happy with Vivre. Vivre has a wide-ranging menu including pizza, pasta, curry, hamburgers, etc. Since we were in London we ordered fish and chips with crushed peas. The battered fish was great. I did not like the thick chips/fries; I prefer fries more well done and not so mushy. We received lots of tartar sauce and the waiter offered ketchup for the fries. The garden salad was great and the multigrain dinner rolls were excellent. The waiter/kitchen did not split the garden salad as requested, but there may have been a language issue. I had a full pot of chamomile tea. It was nice not to have to ask for more water for my tea. We went to dinner quite early and got a very nice meal. We were happy not to have to walk back to the airport to eat. The service was slow. Nearer by is a pricier restaurant and a small bar. read more

Ate here years ago and thought it was first class, unfortunately they seem to buy everything in and nothing is created in the kitchen. My wife had a pizza, bought in base. We had a surprisingly good dinner at Vivre. We had an overnight at Heathrow prior to our flight back to the West Coast. Dining at an airport or a hotel is typically not my preference but we did not have the time to travel downtown. The restaurant was busy but the immediate service was good; our drink order came quickly. The dining area is in full view of the kitchen. They have a diverse menu which is sometimes challenging for the chefs. My wife ordered the Ribs and I ordered the Butter Chicken. I felt safe trying an Indian dish as we were in London. Both were large servings and were excellent. The staff prepared them well. Vivre is a good option when you are staying near Terminal 5. read more

Wow. This place made missing my flight an unexpected treat. Tonight I enjoyed the butternut squash soup, the artichoke risotto and the lemon meringue tart. All of it was delicious, well rounded and perfectly portioned. Service was friendly and quick. Ambiance was slightly upscale but with a friendly amount of chatter. Dinner while overnighting in the hotel for a flight the next morning. Booked a table when checking into the hotel. Wanted a casual dinner and Vivre was surprisingly spot on. We kept it simple and each got a caesar salad and split lombardi pizza, primarily ham and dried tomato. The salads were fine and the pizza was terrific, really delicious. Picked a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the wine list to take back to the room, and it was the perfect nightcap. Wasn't expecting anything special from the meal, and was very surprised at how enjoyable the evening was. Kudos. Previous visits we'd dined at La Belle Epoque. But if you're tired at the end of a trip and just want a pleasant simple meal, Vivre is the place to be. read more

Came here for dinner during a long lay over in Heathrow airport. We were staying at the Sofi hotel that has this restaurant at the ground floor. We arrive that the kitchen was almost closing but they managed to get our food ready pretty fast. Arleta helped us out and was so nice to offer us drinks on the house while the food was getting ready. I ordered lamb ribs and my hubby ribeye steak both were delicious. My family had a very pleasant meal here while staying at the hotel. Service was attentive and polite. The food was surprisingly good for an airport hotel restaurant. My husband ordered the fish and chips and the chips were so good we ordered a second portion for the table. I had the Mediterranean Pasta, it was seved hot (which is always a good thing in my book), it was also delicious! Kids ordered the pepperoni pizza and a plain buttered pasta- everyone was happy! This is a very hectic hotel restaurant with too few waitstaff. The potato and leek soup was awful - unfit for human consumption. We asked for extra ketchup and received mayonnaise. This place was terrible. I was so shocked. Worst part first: all four of us got food poisoning and were sick all night and then in morning on a 9 hour flight. When we arrived we're told twice not to make a reservation by front desk, and then host at restaurant says we needed one and acts like he's doing us a favor to find us a table in a half-empty restaurant. We asked to sit against a wall and he put us next to the kitchen. We said we didn't want to sit there and basically said it was only table available. Took 15 minutes to get drinks. Eventually we got a manager involved and were moved to better table. Little did we know we'd be sick within 2 hours. Supposedly the hotel is 5 stars, but I wasn't impressed. This experience is enough to keep me away from the whole chain. read more
