first off i would never take anything after my experience. took marantz 4300 reciever. gorgeous. as i told owner turned straight on, no relay click. played fantastic in 2 channel or quad through headphones, tape,fm,phono all great just no sound through speakers. 99% on forums techs, people stated bad relay. did make sence maybe stuck on on postion. sat 3 months, told not relay. sat and sat. i abuddy went with me. took his kenwood. called last week he was done. mine waiting for parts. 2 hr drive from indpls to shop. his was a mess. no fm, sound reversed,. took it cack . i questioned owner. collected and dealt with stero 20+ yrs. not stupid. week kater he says done repairing it, more excuses. pick up today 12/17/2025 . get home. plug in. won't even turn on. filing in small claims. hope he enjoys drive over here. people avoid this lying rude SOB read more

Fixed my classic (40 yr old) turntable quickly, and at reasonable cost. Just seeing the electronics in the shop is worth a visit. Hours are very limited so owner can spend time on repairs. Check to ensure it's open before you go. read more

These guys will have you pay $45 up front for an estimate and sign an agreement that says they'll contact you with a estimate quote in 5-20 business days. Rest assured, this agreement means nothing to them. I've gotten 2 estimates from them in the past few years. The first was an analog tape machine that was pretty far beyond useable, I was just curious how much it'd cost to get it working. I wasn't too concerned about it and almost forgot it was there after 3 months had passed and hadn't heard anything. I called and got a "oh yeahhhhh... that thing" kind of response. They had looked at it, but never bothered to call me with the estimate. This time they've been holding on to a preamp I use pretty regularly since January (it's early March now). I called on a Friday after 20 business days had passed to check on the status and was told the guy who had it on the bench and knew what was up, was out for the day. No problem. People take days off or half days. I told them it was okay if he called me back Monday or Tuesday. It has now been a week and a half since that first call, so I called back today. I was told this mysterious guy who knows about my repair but never seems to be around is out AGAIN because he leaves at 2:00 each day. I am now waiting to see if I'll receive a promised follow up call with a final estimate tomorrow morning... who knows how long the actual work might take or if they'll even call. The point is, if you can't guarantee a time frame for an estimate, don't sign a contract with customers stating you'll give it to them within 20 days and take their money. I am now very frustrated that it's both been so long and no one seems concerned about making it right and just expects me to swallow the poor customer service with a smile. In the mean time since dropping this preamp off in January, I've broken a few other pieces of gear, taken them somewhere else, gotten an estimate, gotten the repair done and picked the gear up and happily used it in the time that this one item has been "sitting on the bench awaiting an estimate" at Volume. read more

I have been waiting about a month for my grandfather's projector to be repaired and I realize that the bulb blew and had to be ordered, but it has taken so long to get it back. $250 and I'm sure I won't get a refund because of the long wait. These people are slow and they don't return phone calls, you feel like your item is being held hostage! If I would have had another choice I would have gone somewhere else but this was a very specified repair and I can only hope it's fixed properly when I finally do get it back. Great place! Would never go anywhere else besides Volume Electronics to repair my DJ Gear. The guys here are first to none. They know every little thing on how to repair your electronics. Don't underestimate there work. In the electronic repair business you definitely get what you pay for. Great place and highly reccomended! read more

I took an old turntable stereo from the seventies that had been given to me to be repaired. The turntable speed was off and the pots were noisy. The job they did on it was great and it works like new. The reason I don't give 5 stars is because I think the turnaround time was a little long for what needed to be done but the price was very reasonable and the staff very helpful. read more

I purchased a Nakamichi System One rack stereo system last December and found Volume Electronics for some repairs through an audio enthusiast web site. I brought my system which consists of 5 separate components and its rack in for an estimate. They charged a reasonable fee to investigate the system to see what all it needed. It was non working when I brought it to them. The various components needed everything from a little TLC to lamps, to more serious repairs. It took several months as I totally expected. My goal was to have it in perfect working order and time was not my concern which I told them from the beginning. I picked the system up in early May and they had even fixed a bad roller on one leg of the rack. The bill again was completely reasonable. I now have my stereo in amazing working condition, it blows the doors off many way more expensive systems from the late 70s era. Many thanks to these wonderful folks at Volume Electronics!!! read more
