This year The Fall Festival of the Arts fell on November 23 & 24. The festival showcased over 150 artists along Woodland Boulevard. Entry is free but parking can be tricky. There are several free parking lots in the area but be sure to arrive early to secure a spot. There is live music, local cuisine, and creative activities for kids. Be sure to bring your walking shoes because there is a lot of are to cover. It's a great way to get out with friends & family and enjoy a weekend full multiple art forms such as paintings, drawings, photography, pottery, hand made jewelry, crafts, and so much more.

We just moved to the area a year ago, so this was a first. Deland has lots of events every month…read moredowntown. This event was well organized and had about 100 musicians at 22 stages. The flyer was very helpful and included who/type music/where and a map. We got there shortly after it started and managed to hear blues, punk, reggae, hip hop, techno, rock, heavy metal, psychedelic funk and alternative in the 5 hours we were there. They only had a couple of food trucks, but there are tons of restaurants ranging from $$ to $$$$

Now this was fun. A true street festival that really does embrace the local community, supports…read morelocal businesses, and brings some very cool music to the area. There were countless stages and all kinds of music. Everyone seemed to be having a really good time--performers and spectators alike. My only criticism is to the folks running the soundboards: Please do not drown out the stage around the corner from you.

I walked slowly to The Athens Theatre where Tim let me in to cool off and catch my breath. The MANAGER of the theatre let me stay in even with sound check!!! The play was fantastic, the seats amazing and production superb. I could have gone south really bad - but Tim and The Athens Theatre saved me from that happening. Thank you, Athens, Theatre, and Tim. You are simply the best.

Recently, DH and I went to see the sound of music at the Athens Theatre, and we were blown away!…read moreEveryone was so very good at everything they did! Especially the orchestra, the nuns and the father! We are so very happy to see the Athens bringing back a lot of the golden era musicals like they used to have in 2017 and 18. The children, and all of the performers as a whole were amazing! I enjoyed it so much that I am bringing my mom today! I really hope that the theatre will be bringing back musicals like "hello Dolly", "The King and I", "Guys and Dolls", "Oklahoma", "Brigadoon", "The Music Man", "Gypsy", "My Fair Lady", and "Fiddler On The Roof" to name a few. We love seeing those musicals and bringing the younger generation to see it live. My niece enjoyed it the last time I brought her and it's different than seeing it on a DVD. The theatre is wonderful since the seats are comfortable and you can see from any seat in the house. Come back to the theatre!

On the outside it doesn't look like a theater…read moreat all, I was skeptical on the location when I looked it up, I thought it was someone's house. But upon arrival, I was surprised on what was inside the building! Parking isn't bad, it's either asphalt or grass, but plenty of space when you walk in, you can see the history of the building by the low ceilings and how some of the walkways are. You can either purchase tickets online, or in person, I recommend purchasing them online so you can select your seat in advance. There is a concession stand with various candies for a $1, and I'm talking the regular candy that you see at the store while waiting in line at Publix, such as full size Reese's, M&M's, Hershey's, Famous Amos cookies, sodas, waters, and Milano cookies for 50¢! The theater itself is small but intimate, and I feel as though you'll get a great view of the stage no matter where you sit. My wife and I enjoyed the performance, and the sounds quality was great. I may look forward to coming to some shows at the shoestring theater, however the drive was a bit of a mission, so make sure you have your phone battery charged for your GPS to find the place!

I feel when the house is full, having a middle seat will suck cause you have to cross so many people to get there. Overall, a great theater!
