My Volvo drives now like a dream. Like an absolute dream. Honestly, I haven't been able to say that for years. Even after spending $1500 with a friend who is a very good general mechanic, my Volvo continued to make all kinds of noise, none of them good. It creaked, it sputtered, and it groaned. I resigned myself to the noise and to the rough idling and hoped I could maybe get another year out of it. But a couple of weeks ago, my car took a turn for the worse. Which was particularly troubling because I had moved to LA not long ago and didn't know a good mechanic. Fortunately, I found the Volvo Pit Stop in Glendale. Sam, the Owner, spent quite a bit of time with my car and then with me. He told me what repairs had to be done and which ones I could hold off on. I was so impressed with Sam that I asked him to fix everything. I just knew he was going to do a great job. That was my best car decision EVER. My S60 now 10 years old and with 130k miles on it didn't drive this good when I bought it 6 years ago. Like I said, it now drives like a dream. No noise; great acceleration and power. And I feel safe in it again. Sam has been working on Volvo's exclusively for I think about 20 years. Which I'm sure is why he could restore my car to almost new condition while my friend couldn't. Cars are so sophisticated these days that from now on, I'll always take my Volvo to a Volvo specialist. And as long as I live anywhere within 50 miles of Glendale, I'll take my car to Sam at the Volvo Pit Stop. One bit of advice. Sam is a busy guy. Every time I went to his garage, it was packed with Volvo's he and his crew were working on. That's a good sign of course but make sure you call for an appointment. This is literally my first Yelp review, that is how strongly I feel about the service offered to me. I had my Volvo towed in to have a brandy new key cut and programmed to my car. There seemed to be some delivery issues with Volvo National, but I was constantly called and given updates as to what the issue was and how they were proceeding to fix it. I could tell in the voices of both Sam and the woman who frequently monitors the phones, just how earnest they were to help. Sam had one of his assistants drive to a Volvo dealership and get a blank key(which he payed for out of pocket) so that he could expedite the process as much as possible. On top of that, my battery had completely given out which Sam had the capability to fix at a fraction of the price some places have charged me. When I had arrived the cost was in the range of what we discussed, but I am a 23 year old kid that just moved to the area and am somewhat struggling with my finances. Sam must have just seen the need in my demeanor and offered to replace my battery free of charge (didn't even charge for the battery itself.) I will be going in as soon as I have more money to pay him back for his kindness, but was truly touched and humbled at how human he was. In an industry where people are used to getting scammed, nickel, and dimed it was simply awesome to see someone who sought to put the customer above his own personal gain. I will be recommending anyone I know with Volvo issues to Sam and will be returning should any other woes befall me. Thanks again Sam, not all heroes wear capes. read more

I like them a lot, but probably won't go back because once I did a couple of larger repairs with them I felt as though they were trying to add random expenses and telling me things were wrong with the car that weren't. If I were more gullible, I would have felt scared to leave these things unfixed (even though there was no issue to begin with). The last straw was that they charged me an insane amount for a diagnostic for an issue with the vehicle, read, I didn't need them to tell me what was wrong because I knew exactly what needed fixed and came to them with the issue. They then charged me while saying they didn't know what to do to fix it. After this incident I went through their previous invoice from a larger repair to find that they had failed to deduct the diagnostic amount from my service bill (a promise now removed from their site). Again I like him and his wife, but beware if you're a young woman that unfortunately they may take advantage of your naivety and try to get you to fix a billion things on the car that aren't needed. YOU NEED to get a second opinion and don't let them charge you unless they do the repair. I'm leaving a 5 star in hopes it bumps the review to the first page of their Yelp page. Good luck! read more

My car wasn't starting. I don't have a regular mechanic, because let's be honest, I don't even have a dentist. Money is tight. Times are tough. Based on the positive reviews on this website, So when I called volvo pit Stop talk to Serly said, "Sure towed the car in''After looking at my car and diagnosing the problem, SAM let me know how much it would cost to fix, and ordered the part. When I arrived, credit card shaking in my hand, I was happy to be told that SAM was able to repair the problem, SAM gave me option to pay two payment of check and credit card, because my wife just pass the way couple month ago it's that attention to detail that will make me go back to Volvo Pit Stop,they give me list of the repairs needs to be done on my car for later,this place never try to over sale you repairs which you don't need it,In addition, When I towed my car to their shop , my radio didn't work When I picked up my car turned the key, Daddy Yankee was blasting my car,WOW i did not even mention about my radio,Radio fixed I feel truly blessed and definitely grateful with PIT STOP'S mechanics, customer service, quality of work and prices - without reservations i recommend SAM and SERLY for your volvo. read more

Even issues that really don't concern them, they go out of their way to help people and specially people like me (clueless) to find the best solution for their needs. I just got my car fixed after looking for a small problem in it , they just fixed it so easy and fast which I thought impossible because most of the shops said its not easy and made it hard for me!!!!! But they got the solution and fixed it with less money as I thought! I really like this shop they're so kind and friendly. Actually for the person down there they have a great costumer service there and I don't see how having to speak English has anything to do with how they fix your car and they actually do speak great English and them offering you coffee is a sign of being nice it's called costumer service..I was recommended there and they did the best job fixing my car with the best prices you should be lucky to have your car fixed there it's a great place and I would recommend it to anyone..just because the parts are original doesn't mean that it should be cheap .. Hands down the most honest and upfront mechanic I have ever spoken to. Everyone I spoke to was extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I live in New Jersey and had a pre-purchase inspection done on a Volvo in the area. I was given videos of every thing wrong with the car, no matter how big or small the problem was. After the videos, they had called me back and walked me through every single problem and explained each to me, as well as gave me a breakdown of how much they would cost to fix while pointing out what would be crucial to fix immediately. I've been going to Sam for seven years. Now that he's moved his shop from Studio City to Glendale, I pass many other Volvo shops, but it's worth the trip. Sam cares about all aspects of the car, not just mechanical. He's committed to offering the best value, which in some cases involves the most expensive (but most reliable) parts. After my '84 Volvo broke down halfway through a long road-trip, Sam was able to fit me into the schedule right away and had me back on the road the next day. As a young woman, I've learned to be wary of unscrupulous mechanics trying to rip me off, but he replaced my fan clutch, thermostat and water pump for a very reasonable price, and worked with me to keep the overall cost of the diagnostic/minor repairs as low as possible. Finding a good honest mechanic plus who do their job well and charge fair prices is not easy I have an old Volvo 240 that I will drive into the ground and these guys keep it alive for me. Best Volvo Mechanics in the LA This is my second review, they do not need my review, but they deserve it. I have been taking my2006 Xc90 over four years. SAM is honest and will give you options on how to best fix your car. Once they fixed what was wrong with my car and did not even charge me for the work because they "barely did anything". Most mechanics would NEVER do that. They even drove me to the local Starbucks while I waited on a repair! They are VERY busy given their happy clientele. I just bought a 1997 Volvo. This is my first Volvo and my car had some issues with its electronics. In order to get my car smogged I had to get what is known as the Cluster to be replaced. Sam took my car and went through it and found the issue and replaced and fixed the cluster at a fraction of the cost it would of cost me through a dealer . Sam also told me what more was needed.My car is running great, thanks to them. I am very happy with Sam and Shirley. The service was first rate and honest. SAM has been servicing our Volvo's since 2011. We wanted to purchase a used S60 and SAM advised us not to buy until he had inspected the car. We took him a nice looking 2013 Volvo S60 and we inspect the car together, he found several problems associated with lack of maintenance. We end up buying the car with reasonable price. I agree with the "Sam is the Man" review. I have had some frustrating experiences with other LA Volvo repair shops and I am happy to have found Sam. I'm pretty cynical but he really seems to care about your car. It's honestly refreshing to find someone who takes pride in their workmanship.
