This review is looooong overdue, and during my most recent visit to The M Shop, I was reminded about how wonderful their team has been over the past decade. I've been coming here for several years now and everyone, from the front desk to the mechanics in the back are top notch. Joe, Jake, Jon C., and Cassie always take care of me and my Bavarian Babies. Back when I had my 2006 BMW 330Ci (E46 ZHP), they kept it running strong with regular maintenance, as well as some of the costly repairs that come with owning a Bimmer. However, that's just the price you pay for driving one of these cars. And trust me, the dealership over in Glendale is definitely not more cost-effective on some of those bigger jobs. Plus, I don't feel like I'm being up-charged at every visit and made to think that I must fix something immediately, if it's not urgent. The M Shop services BMW cars and Mini Coopers (since they're manufactured by Bavarian Motor Works too). Scheduled an appointment on 9/20 for 10/17 to do an oil change and replace a charge pipe on a M2 with Jake. Quoted $145 for oil and ~$900 for charge pipe. I drop off the car at 8:30am and am quoted for 4 hours of labor. I get a call at 2:58PM from Jake that the car is ready, but they messed up and did not have the complete charge pipe kit, so they could not do the installation. Keep in mind I made this appointment 1 month in advance. Disappointing and a waste of my time. read more

I've been going to The M Shop for about seven years now. They do impeccable work. They're respectful and communicative--always patient about explaining my car's needs and never treat me like I wouldn't understand what's going on with the vehicle. I used there service for over 8 years with two Mini Coopers. My smog check came up after the first service of my 2016 Mini and the smog tech could not get a reading. He told me to drive more, take a road trip, I did. I came back and the same thing happened. After the fourth time th tech said take it back to the last service place you took it to. The computor may have been inporoperly set. I called and they said they would call me back that day, No call back. I called left a mesage a finally a week later the owner called me back. He was irritated and said I accused him of wrong doing to my car. I told him I only gave you the information tha the last professional gave me about the car. He became even more angry yelling at me using profanity toward me. I am a 63 year old retired LAUSD High School Principal and have suffered a tramatic brain injury. He accused me of giving him wrong dates. I was in my car and expalined that I didn't have the paper work to look at the specific dates. I told him that my memory of dates with out the paperwork could not be verified but I could give him the correct dates when I got home and was able to get the paperwork. Then he mocked my brain damage disability, shame on him. He accussed me all sorts of things and then he told me he would never service my car again. Over the years I referred 10 people to his shop paid over 15k in very good service. This interaction was totally unaccepatble and I warn any customer that the owner has a serious anger issue when you present issues that he does not does not want to address. DO NOT GO UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING ABUSED. I would give no stars for the owners anger managment issues and huge chip on his shoulder. I have never experienced anything like this. read more

Spoke to Jon (John?) on the phone about setting up an appointment for my car. Just needed an oil change and registration for a new battery. The shop was unfortunately super booked (wait time of ~2+ weeks). Even after expressing the wait time was not an issue to me, he set me up with a shop closer to my area (I had reached out to here due to reputation). So super helpful even though I didn't get a chance to use their service. Hopefully in the future I will be doing business with them. read more

My parents needed some work done for their mini cooper. We had some not so pleasant experiences with mechanics in the past, however this wasn't the issue with the M shop. They are very transparent with their prices. My parents were very pleased with the level of professionalism they were treated. They only speak Spanish, and the guys at the M shop took care of them. Not a pleasant experience. Brought my car in for breaking pads change at 10am on time and they didn't start repairing until noon. They kept me waiting till the end of their business hour and no checkup during the time. Time is more precious to me, I would rather bring my car to dealership next time. read more

Went to Pacific BMW to get a taillight repaired that was cracked. Pacific BMW quoted me 1959+tax to for the part and labor. I bought the part for 784 dollars and went to The M Shop as I was driving home to schedule an appointment for install. The M Shop team was able to do the work in literally less than 30 mins from the time I arrived and was very knowledgeable and friendly. Best of all they charged $80 dollars to install. read more

Great service on my M series. Knew exactly what I was concerned about, checked and found the problem. Quickly emailed pics of all bad parts asking for authorization, knew what parts to use to fix the problem from occurring in the future (not always just OEM replacements). Also found some additional "time bomb" problems and fixed those as well, showing interest in doing good work. Then they emailed pics of the old, damaged pieces after they came off the car. This is a full service shop, competently dealing with the engine, suspension, and engine accessory issues I had, with fair cost (much less than dealership) and honest communications. Paolo, my service rep, in particular was excellent. These guys seem able to do most, perhaps all, reasonable BMW repair and performance work. Only downside - you need an appointment, and they are booked up for several weeks in advance. I know why they are booked up now! They get a 5-star rating from this BMW enthusiast. read more

I LOVE THIS MECHANIC SHOP! It was my first time going to this shop, it was recommended by a friend:) I was told that they specialize in Mini Coopers/BMW and I have a Mini Cooper. I was having engine malfunctions and they fixed EVERYTHING that was wrong with my car! They were also super helpful and diligent to care and show me what was wrong with my car by emailing me a video and a couple photos of what exactly what was causing what in my car(which was SUPER PROFESSIONAL to me). I'm so happy with my experience at The M Shop! They even took the time to wash my car and polish my wheels!!! andddddd they even replaced my old license plate covers that were put from the dealer where I purchased my car and put their own license plate covers (which I thought was super funny and cool cuz they're better lookin than my last ones) 100%%% would recommend this shop to anyone that has a Mini Cooper or any car to be honest! This shop is trustworthy, reliable, and quote you at a great value. I still drive my first car which is a 2015 Mini Cooper and they've taken great care of it. As a woman I think it's very important to find technicians who help explain things to you without being condescending and don't try to take advantage of your patronage. Jon and Paulo have been very kind and helpful to me for the past few years with their honesty and service. This year my car hit a few bumps on the road (figuratively lol) and they helped me through several different services with efficiency at a fair value. I never dread coming to this shop even with car woes because of the trust they've built between us as customer and business. They're good at what they do and I refuse to get serviced at the dealership as long the M Shop is around. My whole family comes here (brother - 2014 MINI Cooper S and now my dad - 2018 BMW X1). The M Shop is a busy business and while I am already aware to expect a further service date from the date I call, they have been flexible and understanding with time sensitive issues and my schedule. My car broke down on the highway late in the day. M Shop was the only place in the area that was open and they were super helpful and accommodating even if I wasn't able to get my car there on time. Luckily I did, and the initial eval was fantastic. They did a quick analysis, told me what they suspected, then a few days later (closed on weekends) came back with full breakdown. They were super transparent with what I needed and did not push any services. In fact, they found me a warranty and a recall and they stopped service immediately so I could get it done for free at the dealer. They sent me with a whole package of notes, and I ended up paying for 1 thing they recommended because I trusted them fully. Even though I live 45 mins away in Venice, I'll be bringing my car here as long as I still live in the LA area. There are literally TWO BMW shops I would ever go to in California and these guys are one of em! read more

I met Joe when I was looking for a location for our Purist Group Toy Donation event right before Christmas last year in 2020. Joe was generous to donate his time and space to open up his shop for our event on a Sunday. With his connections and ours, we collected a truck load of toys to donate to the Sheriff's Youth Foundation. I have yet to take my car to Joe to get it serviced, but after get to know Joe and saw his shop, he is very knowledgable about BMWs, new or old or vintage. I used to always go to a Mini dealership for service until one day I was given a ridiculous $$$ quote. I am not very car literate but even I knew that I should look for a second opinion. I called a couple of shops from Yelp and even on the phone, The M Shop was a stand out. Professional and courteous. I went to Mshop today to have my brake pads replaced. My car only has 20,000 miles on it. Jack is a very nice guy. Unfortunately, I feel I was fooled by his good manners. My BMW dealership in Newport Beach sent me a quotation that was only 450 dollars. I wanted to pay less, that's why I went there. My car rotor needs to be replaced at 70,000 miles, but they claimed to replace it at 20,000 miles, which has no justification in terms of BMW standards. I paid them more than 900 dollars instead of 450 dollars from the most expensive BMW dealership in California. I am not satisfied at all. I can say I am shocked. I recommend that you be very careful. read more

They walk you through it all and don't push things on you.
