I love shopping here! I have been coming to this store ever since I was a kid. Miss the old days though when the mall was full functional and they used to have a really good Chinese restaurant in the food court of the mall but the mall itself is permanently closed and the only thing that is open is von Maur and the movie theater. The staff at this store are very professional and friendly! I come here and get new clothes and makeup/skin products since they have a good selection on designer makeup as well. Pretty pricey since it is a high end store but it's definitely worth the price! read more

The store displays is same as my memory and not much change. This is high end store and should expect the price higher than other stores. Wow. Senerio : chef on a time crunch looking for clothes for last min trip need jeans trendy yet relaxed for a plus size male. So I tried amazon wardrobe and was so dissatisfied. Two days to wait try on and ship back. Product cheap ajd felt weird. (Later saw them on sale at Walmart.com) So I made a quick call to von maur after my mother made the suggestion. You talk about service. I was able to Tell them what I needed and size. (And looking it up on line first I could give them the item number. Lady was so kind to find the items I needed and set them aside. I walked in and amongst all the customers she said hello and passed me to special agent 732925. Calling him special agent cause wow did he take care of me. (Using his id so von maur can give him employee of the month). He was so wonderful. Remembered me from a year and a half ago and helped me big time. Found jeans that were an even better fit. Understood what I needed and because I am on a weight loss program found me similar jeans that were on sale! I was in and out and able to try them on in less than 30 min. No more Amazon wardrobe for me. Their is no way they can touch the service. The selection and in this case the price. Way to go Von Maur! I hope you never leave St Charles. Just amazing. LOVE! Shopped here last weekend while I was home from school. My mom bought me a pair of Sperry's and we decided to look in the shoe sale room. We both found AMAZING deals on end-of-season boots. The saleswomen were super friendly and helpful. While we were checking out, I mentioned that I didn't know how I'd fit 2 pairs of boots and the Sperry's onto my carry-on bag. The saleswoman (wish I remembered her name!!) offered to have them all shipped to my apartment in St. Louis, free of charge! Truly amazing customer service. I haven't bought a present yet due to my work. Since it's Christmas break and I don't have work I went to this place. I went first to the women's and kids clothing. I bought a dress, shirt, blouse, skirt, pants, and sandals. It really cost a lot because I bought too much. Next I went to the men's selection. I bought pants, shirt, polo, long sleeve, short, jackets and cap. I also bought some gift wrapper and paper bags. I also bought toys for the kids. I asked some staff to help me wrap all of my gifts. Three staff helped me. They are nice and very kind. They also helped me to put it in my car. So I give them a tip and also a Christmas money gift. They are grateful. read more

I got a pair of boots in October of last year as a gift. I wore them about 10 or 15 times throughout the season. The bottoms of the boots started to fall apart and separate from the boot. When I brought them to the store for an exchange a couple of months ago they told me they looked very worn and refused to do anything for me. The boots that I got were $120, not cheap, if I wore them every day through the fall/winter season I would expect them to last more than a season! This is my new favorite store! I walked in here not expecting to find a dress for my daughter's homecoming dance. The moment we walked it we were welcomed with the most beautiful Christmas display. I know it's only September, but the display truly put me into the holiday spirit. The store is extremely organized and very very fancy. You'd expect a department store to be all messy but the store seemed very high end. I immediately felt out of place due to the fact that the store was so fancy. I was comforted by the staff's quick to response to seeing me walk in. They welcomed me and asked if I needed any help. The store has a large variety of merchandise. There is a diverse men's section, women's, juniors, kids, shoes, etc. everything in the store is labeled and clean. The sale sections are distinctly labeled for your convenience. This is located in Charlestowne Mall (ghost town). It's a great place to shop if you want to beat the crowds. Just got the cutest summer dress here yesterday for $11!! So don't pass up the sale racks! They also have a little clearance room on the first floor for shoes, gorgeous shoes! Great finds here! P.S. If you get the Von Maur credit card, there's no interest charged-you just have to pay the minimum balance (not that I promote going into debt). I can't say how much I miss Von Maur. I used to live just a mile away from this store and absolutely loved shopping there. The service is always great, not pushy and the prices are better than other high-end stores. Living in Arizona now I can find the same merchandise at other stores, but it's just not the same as Von Maur. While I like Nordstrom's I always feel a little underdressed in their stores. Von Maur is an upscale, take you as you are kind of place. When one of my partner's relatives passed away and he needed a new suit quick they did the alterations in one day...amazing. Their Lombard location does have a larger selection, but this store can obtain merchandise from other stores for you. No need to drive and fight the traffic when you can shop close to home. Shoe department review here. This is where I've been buying my shoes. I don't buy them often, but I go here for the comfy chairs and great salespeople. My last experience was not so great. My first clue should have been the shoes the saleslady was wearing. They were big , clunky things and I couldn't believe it. Where were her cute shoes? What was she selling? Anyway, she asked what I was looking for and I told her. She kept picking out other stuff and I stuck to my guns. Finally she got it. Then she asked me my size and went off to get the shoes. I had told her what size I thought I wore, but said it would be a good idea to measure me. Nope. Didn't happen. Then I got the shoes to try on. They were all cute, but didn't fit well and I felt like she was just trying to talk me into buying something. I kept telling her they felt too tight or too loose and she acted like I do when my kids are on my nerves. Finally I bought two pairs and ended up returning one 2 days later. I'm still not sure about the second pair. I was disappointed on the service I got and am not sure I will go back. Last time I had a really nice lady who took her time and made it an enjoyable experience. This person made me feel like it was another item to check off on my list of things to do. I'm sad. I have shopped at St Charles Von Maur since it opened. Staff even know me by name, as well as our kids. Today I went to take back some defective products and they give me a hard time and say there is a new return policy going into affect August 1 st 2020. So it's not August but both the NEW FLOOR manger and the STORE Manager wouldn't help me. Here I sit at an upscale store and they sold me a defective product and they won't take it back?? Where did the service go in customer service. These managers are the worse I have seen in a upscale department store. They didn't care at all about me the customer, and they were dancing around the return policy, but on paper it even says AUGUST 1, 2020. Von Maur you will lose this LONG time customer and I have already started letting people know about You NEW AND IMPROVED customer service. As far as department stores go, Von Maur is definitely the crém de la crém. I'm currently living in Rock Island so the original store is just across the river in Davenport. I gotta say though, having grown up on the Charlestowne VM's huge shoe section and smart layout, Davenport doesn't hold a candle. It's a way bigger store, and people in STC seem to know much more about what they're trying to sell. Not that I have anything against Iowa or anything... A helpful hint to all you (sad)mall shoppers out there: use the bathrooms in VM over any other public ones in the mall. I remember that when the store opened roughly ten years ago now, my grandmother and I were über impressed with the bathroom. The shopping is a bit pricy, but moderate compared to Anthropologie, Abercrombie etc... that are at the Geneva Commons, especially if you know where to look (it doesn't take a genius... I'm referring here to the sales racks). Check this place out if you haven't already. You'll also be supporting our town's favorite failing shopping center. read more

Von Maur has been a long time favorite. I'm used to shopping at their Lombard location though. I visited this store last weekend. Parking was a cinch. Bathrooms were clean and there was plenty of room in the fitting rooms. The staff was helpful and fairly friendly too. Unfortunately they are located in a mall that may as well be buried six feet under. Overpriced and I don't get it. $150+ is not clearance on ANY piece of clothing in my humble opinion. The Women's section was picked over. We were four women in four different sizes and all four of us had a hard time finding anything we liked to try on. I don't think I'll be back. Seriously though. I can't imagine that they will be there much longer unless something turns around soon. read more

I really enjoy shopping at Von Maur. Although it's located in the Charlestowne Mall (pathetic), it definitely stands on its own. The service is always friendly and professional and they offer a nice (although somewhat small) selection of designers that are hard to find at other local stores (Ed Hardy, Juicy Couture, Betsey Johnson etc). Like the previous reviewers, I can't give Von Maur 5 stars simply because it is a lower volume store than the Lombard location although the service is fantastic. The free gift wrap and alterations are also nice perks as well as their outstanding return policy. FYI: They accept major credit cards, but not Discover. read more

Great store holding up one end of this washed out mall. Like a mini Nordstroms inside w/ pianist lending atmosphere.
