We purchased a floral arrangement from Vons for over $100 for Mother's Day. By the very next day, several flowers were already wilting, so my husband returned it and had 2 roses and some carnations replaced. Unfortunately, within a few more days, the arrangement continued to deteriorate, including even some of the replacement flowers. When we returned a second time to request a refund or replacement, the interaction was very disappointing. The manager never spoke directly with my husband; instead, she remained in the back with an employee while visibly shaking her head during their conversation. He was ultimately told nothing could be done and that this was simply "natural" for flowers. For a premium-priced arrangement, we expected fresher quality and more respectful customer service. Came here to get a couple cards and a plant/flower. First of all, they have ZERO get well cards! How do you have ZERO Get Well Cards????!!! For girls bday cards, I hope the only birthdays you are celebrating are for your Mom, Wife, Sister or Niece. No Friends, Grandma or Aunt. A bunch of empty racks and even if they were full, it was only 2/3 of the aisle on one side. Pretty sad! Flowers. They have lots of flowers. But very limited on plants or flowering plants. While returning home from vacation, we needed a few supplies to have in our car. We stopped by Vons Supermarket. The store was relatively clean, well-stocked and running smoothly. When we got in line, those were a bit long but then two additional check stands were opened and the lines moved quickly. Our cashier was quick and efficient. We completed our mission and went outside to load up. Our travels had begun on March 31st with the drive down to Long Beach. After two weeks of eating and vegetating, I was pretty much in lala land. My mind just wandered from place to place. As I was pushing the shopping cart from our car to the cart corral, I heard, 'I'll take that sir.' Space cadet that I was, it wasn't until the second 'sir?' That I realized that the voice was directed at me. When I turned around, I saw a young lady who was rounding up shopping carts. In my spastic mindset, thinking that she was an angel, I asked her if she knew the winning lotto numbers. She laughed at me and took the cart. Her name was Alena. More stores need to find employees like her. Someone who is willing to speak to strangers while looking them in the eyes. So many people just mumble and grunt now. I know her name because I told her that I write reviews on Yelp and wanted to know her name. She told me and then showed me her name tag when I gave her an incorrect spelling. This store is always clean and rarely overcrowded, which I enjoy. For the most part, it is well-stocked, but if they run out of a particular product, they are good at issuing rain checks or helping you find it elsewhere (if you really need it). They're deli section is great, especially if you've gotten off work and have no ideas on what to eat for dinner. Their rotisserie chicken is delicious with their fresh French bread roll! I've ordered sheet cakes here, as well, and they truly try to work with you on any designs you have in mind. They have a great selection of beer and liquor, too. And for someone like me, I'd like to get everything I need in one store. Dinner, dessert, and alcohol! Check! Every so often, they have good deals--you just have to look for them! Make sure you download their app. Sometimes you can save $5 off your shopping trip or get 3-5x in gas rewards at Chevron (I once saved $10+ off my fuel fill-up). Or you can shop the $5 Friday deals! Several times a year, they'll have a $5 Starbucks special (yes, they have a Starbucks inside!) for any Grande drink and a bakery item...for only $5! They also just finished the Monopoly "Shop Play Win" game and got about $40 worth of free items! You cannot beat that. The employees are also friendly! My son was craving an apple, and one of them actually gave one to him to eat while we were shopping. Great customer service! I could always go to another store like the Neighborhood Walmart, where things seem cheaper, but seriously, if you know how to shop, you could score really great deals! read more

Very Clean! The parking lot is constantly swept and carts are removed promptly and sanitized. The store is spotless too. Covid 19 Protocols are strictly followed. The store is well stocked...even on sale items! The employees are extremely helpful and courteous. When I lived in Bakersfield this was my go to grocery store! When I come back to visit family and friends I still shop here! The store is always clean, well stocked and you can't beat the service! When shopping for meat at the meat counter the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly! There is always a large selection of fruits and vegetables and they are always fresh and yummy! The only thing I have a difficult time finding is ready made sugar free whipped cream, so I make my own. The cashiers are always friendly and always ask if I found everything and if not they send someone to retrieve the item for me! I was also so glad to find out my King Sooper card from Colorado works at Vons since both are Kroger affiliates! A big win for me! read more

She was so engaged in conversation w/her coworkers when I asked for help she told me to go back & wait on the other lady that sent me to her on the first place because she was helping someone else. Thank goodness Ana came she was very nice, polite, and more than happy to do her job. I waited to speak w/a manager but after 2 calls the clerk told me he was chatting w/family members that came to the store so I left. It seems the manager set the tone for misplaced priorities. Came here tonight and tried to purchase two packs of Nitrl off the clearance rack. The orange 50% sticker said the regular price was $3.99. The old over weight Hispanics cashier refused to honor the sticker price. She took it up with manager/supervisor Tracy who was overheard telling her to honor the price. She refused and said she wasn't selling them to us for $1.99. She came back and lied and said since it was alcohol, she could not honor their price tag! She then rudely told another employee to pull any others off the clearance racks. She was rude and unprofessional and shouldn't be in customer service. read more

I come to this location because it's the closest to my home however, most of the time I choose to drive a bit further for better service. The store itself is clean and well stocked most of the time but the cashiers are always so unpleasant. It's rare you'll even get a hello. This evening, I got a dry, "you want a bag?" in between the conversation the cashier was rudely carrying on with another employee as he rang up my items. Other times, I'm lucky to get that. Yelp tells me I've been here 22 times and have yet to write a review. That's pretty sad. With all your shopping options around the area it's a wonder Vons does so well. I mean, their prices aren't comparable with WinCo. Heck, sometimes Albertson's is cheaper. But what does Vons do best? Everything! I abhor grocery shopping. I'm usually in there without any list so rarely do things enter my basket that I need. And the things I came for? Usually forgotten. But Vons makes grocery shopping kind of enjoyable. Produce is expertly displayed (no rotten fruit here!) and the deli and meat counter employees are as friendly as they come. I've never run into an issue with items being out of stock. And expiration dates are plenty far out into the future that I never have to worry about checking. Mimi mentioned the lighting and she's so right! There's no harsh fluorescent lights in this store. I mean, who looks good in that lighting anyways? And with grocery stores topping the list for meeting future partners you NEED to look your best. Even in those wine-drinking-only-yoga pants. Recently, I've been obsessed with their fresh baked bread and cheese section. Grab a bagged salad, some delicious gourmet cheese, and a fresh baked loaf of your choosing. You can't go wrong with that kind of dinner! I also use their pharmacy counter. And while they recently killed the awesome rewards program (boo!) Vons is clearly far more expensive than Winco and even Albertsons sells things cheaper, so why the four stars? Vons has a much wider selection of items than its competitors, especially organic and gourmet items. If I can't find a brand or product anywhere else, I'm sure to be able to find it at Vons. Shopping at Vons is a very pleasant experience. Everything here is so beautifully displayed. The lighting is subdued, the bakery and produce departments make me feel like I am in a farmers' market instead of a grocery store. Well, a dimly lit farmers' market at least. I'm sure they probably do this as a cost saving measure, but it does lend a little air of romance to the whole grocery shopping experience. And which of us DOESN'T have some sort of love affair with food. If you're a Yelper, you're accustomed to going the extra mile to finding the best food with the best customer service experience possible. There is a Starbucks inside the store that has a counter with 5 high-backed stools to enjoy your beverages and bakery treats. The florist area is set up beautifully, too, with a wooden gazebo and nicely displayed wares. The bouquets of roses smelled incredible as I walked by. Their deli department has an amazing variety of dessert-ish treats that you can buy by the slice or in larger containers such as cheesecake (multiple varieties), carrot cake, german chocolate cake, and white cake. They are beautiful and I can vouch for several varieties of cheesecake being exceptional. Yes, they're a little more expensive than their competitors, but it's worth a visit to at least pick up those fancy little extras for special occasions. And you may discover that when they put things on sale that they are actually quite competitively priced. insider tip: for those that shop at Vons you can earn points towards getting a price break on gas (I think it is $.20/gal) at Chevron. I found exceptional values in canned goods and placed a "pick up" order. Some confusion arose when I could not pick up on the date I scheduled. When I got an e-mail that said: "Your order has been picked up", I panicked. But Vaugh S. quickly called me and explained their inventory/tracking system. I arrived the next day and DAKOTA ("like the state") carefully examined my picture ID and delivered my order. It is true that Vons is not my "go-to" grocery store--I have a fixed income. BUT, I do visit Vons most every week to enjoy: Vons4U deals, Friday sushi and specials, and great bargains on excellent cuts of meat. This is a store where I look at their mailers and decide in advance the best values. The Deli is always immaculate; the baked goods are sinfully delicious; and the staff is universally helpful and knowledgeable. read more

I just wanted to write this review for this lovely lady that works in the deli department. I can't exactly remember her name. It starts with a J, but she was absolutely the best and saved me lol really tho! I needed some shredded chicken that they always usually have out. Still, it was all because, of course, it was the end of the day. It was around 9 o'clock, I think and they were putting everything away. I want to say she was so sweet because this is all my dog will eat. He will only eat this chicken. He has a significant amount of allergies, and he can't and won't eat anything else. I didn't tell her that I just asked her if it was placed somewhere else because I'm not used to going to that Vons, and she said no it's out. She started to walk back, and then she got out a tray when it was time for her to be off and so kindly made me two oversized packages, and it's just kindness like that goes a far away. She's so sweet, and I just really appreciated her for doing that for my baby and me, not knowing why I needed it, so keep up the excellent work J, and thank you for being so sweet and the guy that checked me out was very nice as well everyone was amicable. Went here to this vons location for the first time today since the one closer to my home closed down. This vons seemed very clean and more selection then the one I was used to. And bonus... there is a Starbucks inside. I don't know if it was because 5 o clock on a Saturday night or what but there seemed to be hardly anyone around for me to ask where certain things were that I couldn't find. I went here for the convenience of it being located right next to my office. I had to get some pies for a birthday party we were having at the office. So being prepared for the event I went and placed an order with the bakery to make sure there would be 2 chocolate pies ready for pick up the following afternoon. No problem ordering and leaving. The next day I go on my lunch to pick up the pies. Went up and spoke with the same person from the day prior. She went and looked in the back, after 5 minutes she told me she had to package them... Not thinking too much into it agreed and waited. paid for them at the bakery and was on my way in no time. Getting to the office and setting up for the birthday celebration we set out both pies and sang Happy birthday. I let the birthday girl cut into her requested dessert and the pie was still FROZEN. I cannot believe I was given pies, that I ordered the day before for a birthday celebration, and they were completely frozen. I was so embarrassed. I called to get my money returned and they needed to have me back in store to do so. Went back to the store for the refund and they were trying to request the pies back!!! Are you kidding me? Maybe I was a little too harsh with my initial review. During my first visit, the only item I had to buy was red food dye because WinCo was out of stock. I paid twice the price at Vons, the checkout time was long, and I couldn't figure out where the lines were because there were so many displays in the aisle. Six months later, I give them a second shot. This time, I'm just browsing and I come out with some good finds. I remember that Vons is overpriced compared to other grocery stores if you're buying a specific item. However, they have some competitively priced sale items. Their sale produce rotates on a weekly basis - one week it's apples while another week it's pears. I always buy the sale produce so I get a weekly variety. They also have their canned soups, chips, yogurts, and ice cream (my staples!) brands on a weekly sale rotation so again - I'm getting variety. I'll admit - buying the same foods at the same stores for the same prices put me in a rut. I'm going to start implementing some Vons products (on sale, of course) into my grocery routine for variety. read more

I can't take it anymore.  I have been a customer for years and this is the last straw.  All I want is the products at the price that is advertised.  When they change their rewards app every few months that requires a new download it's impossible to get the "digital coupon" unless you jump though the hoops. I am just not going to get screwed out of these "sale" prices anymore.  It's a classic bait and switch to get you in the door and then overcharge at the register thinking you got a good price but got screwed.  I reject this fascist mind control technic to "understand their customers", it's a manipulation to control you and keep you coming back.  Furthermore, requiring you to go to an app is ruining America just like Facebook is ruining America.  Wake up people, Safeway/Vons/Albertsons are EVIL and we must stop helping them destroy us. read more

This store is close by where I work. I go to the deli section at least once a week. After about ten very slow DGAF transactions from the deli, I am ready to stop going. This whole review is focused on the deli. I have taken 15 to 20 minutes trying to buy deli meats, cheeses, salads, and chicken products on several occasions. The workers ignore the customers, and when they finally do start to help you they are impossibly slow. They have no sense of urgency after making you wait while they are cleaning or placing food into containers or whatever routine task that they are doing to be sure you get crappy service. Management needs to train this group so that the customer can get into the store, buy some lunch and go. Maybe a "ring bell for service" would work, they find it much too easy to make us wait. I despise this deli, it would probably be faster to drive somewhere else and get served. One star is too generous, but that is as low as Yelp goes.... read more

This is near my office and my banks. So, I frequent this establishment often. I actually enjoy roaming the aisles and looking for deals to be had. Also, their sales prices are hard to beat. Their everyday prices are competitive, but most definitely not the cheapest. If you are looking for quality and selection, then this place might be for you. If you're all about low prices, then there is a Winco in the adjacent shopping center. The employees are friendly and willing to help you find what you need. On a side note, there is a pharmacy, deli, butcher, Starbucks, and a Wells Fargo inside of this store. Plenty of things to keep you busy while visiting here. read more
