I live in RB, have a Vons card, have known about the Vons gas station in Escondido, and I have gotten that 10 cents off coupon, but Escondido was just not convenient, so I never took advantage of that offer. Since March, I have been volunteering on Fridays in PB so I would drive past this gas station every week and think to myself, "that [price] seems really low, but maybe I can find a cheaper gas station on the way home", and I would drive on because my fuel gauge was still showing an 1/8 of a tank--I could make it to another gas station closer to home on that... Then I started noticing that the Vons gas prices in the past few weeks seemed really low given my Vons card discount, but I would somehow need gas before Friday, and I was nowhere near PB. I did consider just partially filling my fuel tank elsewhere so I could make it to Friday, but I'm too practical for that. Well, today--Friday--was my lucky day. Yesterday evening, the fuel gauge needle was hovering by the red "empty" mark, and I was determined to get gas at this Vons gas station this week. I had gone to the Sabre Springs Arco last time, and the price was $2.979 per gallon, plus the 45 cent nuisance ATM fee, and I thought I did pretty good. I approached the Vons gas station, and I was a little bummed to see "$3.07" per gallon, so that meant $3.04 per gallon with the discount, right? I had no choice, so I parked at a pump. I swiped my Vons card, and I was deelited to see the message displayed that my discount would be 10 cents off per gallon--$2.979--without the pesky fee that Arco charges. Other items of note on this first visit: Nice... - A good number of pumps - A lot of lane space between islands so you can squeeze between cars to get to a pump ahead of a vehicle at a rear pump (like at Costco) - It wasn't crowded on this Friday morning ~ 9am Huh? - Enter from the east side (there are signs and arrows I noticed after the fact) - I was a little thrown off by the diagonal orientation of the lanes (reminded me of Rite-Aid) - When I was leaving PB, I noticed the posted price went down to $3.01, which was okay this time, but interesting I never thought I'd be writing about a great gas station experience, but I saw this gas station on my yelp home page and was inspired by the 3 yelpers before me to post this. read more

This gas station is right by my house so I prefer to get my gas here. Basics: - 3 cent discount with Von's club card - squeegees & paper towels to clean your window - really clean and nice inside - gas attendent even wears nice clothes Con: - can get really packed, especially since its a one way direction Tips: - most cars have their gas cap on the drivers side (including me). The hose reaches around to the othe side if you park close enough to the gas pump. I always do that when it's busy. The lines are shorter for the passenger side gas cap. - go early in the morning before work to get in and out fast - the more you spend at Von's in groceries the higher the discount at the pump. I once spent $150 at Von's, and got a 50 cent discount per gallon. That was $3.03/ gal. That made my week!! :) read more

the gas here is the same or a bit cheaper than the norm so we love it. We are close by and do our grocery shopping here as well so we even get discounts on the gas sometimes. The only downside is the people who don't know how to wait in line and cut in front of everybody. Can't fault Vons for idiots tho... :) read more

After shitty watered down ruin your engine ARCO crap, Vons Gas is the cheapest you'll find in PB. How am I sure it's not the same or even worse quality? I don't, but I'm going to expect Vons to keep up the same level of quality in their gas that I see in their stores. $.03 off with your club card, which I don't even understand why you wouldn't have if you came here. At that price, it's not even worth going anywhere else. The last time I came, I happened to get a spot right away, and then a line of about 10 cars just came out of nowhere, so make sure you come here at a non-peak time, or else you'll waste your price savings idling your engine. The machines are ridiculousness slow, and take no less than 10 seconds for every step. You eventually get through it, but it's just a pain in the ass and holds the lines up. read more

I used to exclusively get my gas here, but not anymore. Ever since September or so, many of the pumps have been having this issue where the trigger would not stay depressed when I held it...and my tank wasn't nearly full. I would have to squeeze and squeeze to get tiny amounts of gas to come out. I asked an attendant what was up, and he said a few pumps were waiting for a part that was to arrive in a few days. It's March, and the issue is still occurring (I believe at pumps 7, 8, and 9, and some more). If I hold the trigger at just the right pressure, the gas trickles in, but who has time to do this? And if the trigger releases automatically after every $.03 of gas I put in, how do I know when my tank is REALLY full? Tonight, I arrived there around 11 p.m. I was about to enter my phone number for the discount when the screen gave me a message to see the attendant. I did, and he said they reset the pumps each night at 11 when they close. If I wanted gas from there, I would have to wait five minutes. No thanks -- it's St. Patrick's day and I'm a female, by myself. It's not worth it to save a couple cents per gallon if I have to deal with this hassle! Not to mention the lines. The only times I have NOT encountered a line there are 5:30 a.m. and after 10 p.m. I give up, Von's! You disappoint me. read more

About the worst service I ever seen... never getting gas here ever again... so I fill up here all the time by the way. This morning before my road trip I noticed one of my tires needed air. So I go to this vons gas station and ask if they can turn on the air for me please. The worker asked me if I filled up gas there and I told him no not today. He said he can't turn it on unless I filled up gas there... what kind of bull crap is that?! Seriously does he think he's the gatekeeper to Air lol... get off your high horse and I don't think vons pays you $10 an hr to make sure they don't give away free air. The Vons gas station no longer offers the 3 cent discount if you're a Vons club member. You can still get a discount if you shop at Vons, so I would recommend checking your grocery receipts to see when you have accumulated enough of a discount to make it worth while to go to this station. The lines haven't been that bad when I have filled up and are much better than Costco lines. I go here when I'm nearby and need to fill up; otherwise I head to Costco. read more

Yes the station is always packed. What do you expect when there is cheap gas involved and all you need is a club card that has no cost. come here when you are not in a rush, or plan on it taking some time. all of the cons I have come from other customers and don't reflect the business at all. Do yourself a favor and sign up for a card with your friends/family - every now and again, you'll get more money off. A couple negatives about this station: 1) it's always packed - clearly, it's cheap gas; 2) the pumps are occasionally not working - which impacts #1; 3) every now and again, you have to go inside to use a club card. Nice and incredibly cheap, especially after you see the prices at the Chevron on the opposite corner. Hit up the place when it's not busy -- the wait can be long (why, I don't know) and it's one way (some people still go in from the opposite direction be it out of ignorance, stupidity, or impatience -- holds up the wait even longer). Don't be one of those, lol. The taxis also have a tendency to post up shop in the parking lot adjacent to the gas station, watch out for hurried and disorderly cab drivers on your way out. read more

The gas prices are competitive daily and we do get a Von's discount which is nice so with that said the gas price then became competitive and lower then that gas station down the road a bit. The mini mart is stocked with quick items to buy. No meats in the mini store of course and no big Von's store so mainly a gas station. September 15th at 10:00 p.m I went to VONS GAS STATION on Garnet Avenue(Pacific Beach)San Diego to get $20 dollars worth of Gas.JOSE is the name of the clerk who took $20 cash from Me.I proceeded to clean/wipe my car's window when I realized I gave JOSE the wrong pump number. I told him I was on #7 when in reality I was on #6. Human error after a full day at work yes I was exhausted. To my surprise and shock"JOSE" first claimed I did not give him any money. After I insisted that I did he changed his story and aggresively,loud and disrespectfully began screaming to me "This is your fault for washing your car here I saw were you were and someone else took your gas and I didn't do anything'bout it because this is your fault; I won't refund you for your money and if You say 1 more thing I'M GONNA CALL 911 FOR THE POLICE!!!".When I say"screaming" I mean to the top of his lungs with his veins popping out of his neck with a red face and extremely angry. This is the main gas station I go to. It's always the cheapest station in the area. Especially with the 3 cent discount. You may have to wait a little bit, especially if your car has the gas cap on the driver side of the car. Because most cars have it on the gas cap on the driver side. They accept all credit cards (not just debit cards) and do not charge you extra for using one. Only down side is that I hate having to enter my phone number every time for the 3 cent discount. (My Vons card doesn't work) The gas here is so cheap though, I don't mind it that much. Plus I don't need to pay costco $50 a year for use of their gas station. I was sooo excited to see this because they've had a Vons gas station back in Riverside County for years and I fill up there all the time when I'm around. Bought gas today at around 4:45 and the blonde girl working there was extremely rude for no apparent reason. Usually just buy gas and leave, but the pump wasn't taking my phone number for rewards or my credit card. I went inside and immediately the girl was unnecessarily impolite. This employee really needs to check her attitude at the door when she goes to work. When a customer asks a simple question about the rewards program, the answer it shouldn't come with a side of "bitchy". Note to the manager, you need to hire attendants who understand the value of customer service. Regardless of the establishment, customer service should never fall to the wayside. read more

gas prices are great with Vons points, but if you have to go in, some of their sale associates are very rude. There is a black woman there that seems to be prejudice. I went in and she was helping a black man. She was so nice, I thought, what a nice person. Then he left and I was next and boy did her attitude change. Not nice at all. With as often as I go to Vons I cant believe I didnt come here earlier,for some reason I only ever went to Arco.I went here because my credit card was offering a 5% cash back on fuel this quarter,but I could have been saving 20 cents a gallon this whole time,even before that.Sure I dont drive a lot,and it wasnt substantial savings until gas started going up,but now it does matter.I have more time than money,I can afford to drive a couple extra miles and wait for a pump to open. Prices are very very good at this place. Its always packed too. The PB Spirit is usually a few cents cheaper, but if you're paying by debit card, Spirit goes up 10 cents and Vons beats it by 5-8 cents usually. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I know you can get Vons points by buying groceries and gas and save some money. read more
