Sometimes the gas is a decent price, if you don't have time to go to Costco. Weird diagonal pump layout, and not as many pumps as Escondido. People don't seem to know how to line up, because of the driveway cutting across. Also not easy to get in & out of the parking lot. About every two months, I come by here to fill up my tank because of the rewards that I have collected from shopping at VONS. One reward is earned when you have made $100 worth of purchases. It translates to a 10 cent per gallon discount at the pump. A reward expires at the end of the following calendar month when you earned it. I usually have two or three in my account before it becomes time to use them or lose them. The gas station is located across the street from the grocery store and has a dozen pumps. Each one is equipped with a long enough hose so there is sufficient length to reach the fuel tank on either side of your vehicle. They also have kiosks in between the pumps which hold squeegees and window washing fluid. I use the complimentary supplies to clean my windshields while the fuel is being dispensed. You can redeem up to $1 per gallon of rewards in one transaction. The cash/debit price is already $0.10 per gallon lower than the credit price. Using multiple rewards and paying by cash/debit will result in a cost that is lower than Costco or any nearby station. That is why I am a fan of this VONS promotion. read more

This is an express-cellent place in Pac Beach to fill up the gas tank. Whether you're living here or just around for a weekend road trip, Vons Express has your fuel. I didn't have the issues folks in other reviews are complaining about, but all I know is: if you whip out the red Club Card, you are good to go. No idea if the gasoline quality itself is on par with Chevron, but I hope so. Prices at the Vons pumps can't be beat. It's a self serve gas station. Like all gas stations, sometimes some of the pumps aren't working. And if they don't put up a cone marking it out if service, one could drive up to it and miss out on one the other pumps that is working. It usually clean and the window washing stations are usually useable. My only gripe? The hand sanitizing dispensers are never working when I try to use them. There's some money stealing scheme going on. I paid cash; but when I hit the highway found out it never pumped ANY gas. I drive 25 minutes back and the guy says 'we get new pumps in a few days'. Are you negligent or incompetent? His receipt says 'Rebecca' - so I ask him if he is Rebecca: now he is deep in water! 'Well I can only over ride if I go to a grocery'.. (Vons is linked to a grocery: 4 minutes away across an intersection!) Now I wait in the lot 10 minutes while the tubby guy gets an 'over ride'.. In the end I got my money. With your Vons club card, you get a discount if you buy enough groceries through their gas club program. This station is smack dab in the middle of PB and getting in and out of the area is pretty terrible because there is so much traffic. Even today, when I stopped by at 10am, there was a line (like Costco gas) to get gas. I think if you live in the area, this place is convenient but I don't so I probably won't be back for a while. read more

I started shopping at Vons around November 2016 and I've been living in California since January 2016. I got a Club Card beginning of 2017 and discovered they have Petrol Stations just a month ago July 2017. I travel from La Jolla just to come to this Petrol Station because it's amazing how I actually get 430 Fuel Range coming here compared to the other station I use to go to and they had the same price and I used same payment method. The Station for sure is the real deal. I haven't quite figured out the point system but HEY I get 430 FUEL RANGE compare to the other place where I was only getting 360-380 Range same price and same payment method. The staff are also pretty friendly and on top of everything. I didn't use all of the money for fuel when I paid in cash so when I went back inside one of the guys was already prepping to return the difference. It's great to know they pay attention here and not zone out when you come back in and they have a great eye for detail. read more

This place is a joke. Not only do they take your card but they over charge it. Also, avoid number 7 pump. It doesn't work. I got stuck waiting for it to stop asking me if I wanted a receipt before I could even pump gas. I had a guy come over and say he had trouble with that pump too. It's too expensive. They've gone up on their price. Go to Northpark for gas at $3. I do like the convenience of the location and the price isn't bad if you use debit. Make sure you use debit for the cheaper price. I have not had issues since my last review. I needed to put air in my tires and the girl was very helpful in showing me how their machine worked. It's actually an easy machine and it's better than what most stations have as far as air machines go. I like that you can set the psi on it and it will beep once your tire gets to that level. read more

When it comes to gas stations, the only thing that should be decreasing is price! Sadly, that is not the case for this gas station, which has slowly been decreasing in quality. Now, there is a 10-cent additional fee for using credit cards :( That used to be my favorite part of this gas station - the best prices AND convenient if you don't want to carry around a ton of cash, or if it's late at night and they're closed but you could still use your credit card. And no more rewards for Vons club members. I mean, you can still type in your phone number or swipe your card, but where does it go?? The days of 3 cents off for being a Vons member are long gone. The cheapest gas around the beach areas is often found in Pacific Beach. Don't ask me why but it seems several stations within a certain radius of Garnet and Grand Avenues try and compete with each other for lowest price. This is always an automatic plus for us poor folks or plain cheapskates. So it is with great pleasure that I drive over to Pacific Beach and grab a free Starbucks coffee with my customer service survey at that Von's grocery store that doubles as a good pick-up spot in P.B. Right across the street is the Von's Gas Station that also matches the cheap gas prices of the other nearby stations and then takes an additional .03 cents off, if you swipe your Von's card! Also in the summer, if you are coming to Pacific Beach from points east, as you travel down Garnet, the Von's Gas Station is the perfect quick stop to pull in for some chips, dip, beer, or soda. It is mucho convenient and you don't have to worry about gross guys staring at you if you are wearing your bathing suit. To me this is a prime concern. Therefore, 4 stars for this gas station-if they would keep more of their pumps on line, I would jack it up to 5 stars for sure! read more

Vons Gas is exceptionally beneficial for a few reasons. 1. They are conveniently located in the middle of Pacific Beach. You can easily access them from wherever you live and/or are visiting. You don't have to pay the excessive prices that are located closer to a highway entrance. 2. They give you a discount of 3 cents/gallon every time if you use your Vons card. Now that I know it's not huge, but it definitely makes you feel better about yourself when it decreases a little bit. 3. They also provide deeper discounts of 10 cents/gallon if you spend $50 or more at Vons Grocery at different times throughout the year. This will definitely make your day a little bit better when this happens. Downfalls: 1. Busy. Why? Because the gas is cheaper. 2. Sometimes the pumps are broken, which causes it to be busier. PB is definitely more expensive for gas than other areas. The only time I get gas here is when I have gas rewards. You can use up to $1 off per gallon up to 25 gallons if you earn the rewards. This can add up to some great savings. The lines here aren't too bad, way shorter than costco. read more

Some of the cheapest gas prices in San Diego outside of Costco! I love that you can use the pumps on either side no matter which side you cap is on. Vons club discounts make the prices unbeatable when you get the $0.20\gallon discount, the convenience store has a nice selection energy drinks and beverages. (you know, besides beautiful beaches, 'round the year beautiful weather, ocean-side sunsets....etc.) No Stop & Shop I would frequent on the east coast had an accompanying gas station...not even when they became *Super* Stop & Shop! Nope, neither did Shaw's. (Though Stop & Shop has Dunkin' Donuts inside them and that takes my mind off the high gas prices...) It was enough for me that without getting groceries, you get 3cents off as long as you use your Von's card; but then I bought groceries and the cashier informed me that I would get 10cents off my next gas fill-up at the Von's gas station.....TEN-CENTS!!! The gas is already cheaper than everywhere else in PB, but guess what else this gas station does that no one else does: -If you use your Vons Card you get 3 cents off each gallon. -If you spend $50 in VONS and then use your Vons Card to get gas, you get 10 cents off each gallon. How could you not LOVE this gas station. Instead of spending $50 to fill up the freakin SUV, I spend alot less. Just keep in mind that everyone else wants this gas too.
