No self checkout.. long lines and the computers at the cash register counter works very slow sometimes. The store is well stocked with everything you might find at a grocery store. There is a Starbucks inside and nice outdoor seating area. Easy parking.

Best place to grab groceries in the palisades. The manager Chuck is such a great guy and always delivers superior customer service.

I've been shopping here for over two years, and this review is long overdue. My biggest complaint in the past was the lack of cell service due to the store being located in the basement. It was frustrating not being able to text or call my wife to check what we already had in the fridge, which often led to overbuying--though that's never really a problem at TJ's since everything is so delicious. The great news is that they now have Wi-Fi, which is a total game changer for this location! I'm a huge fan of their sheet cakes; I always pick one up to share with my co-workers. Trader Joe's consistently delivers quality products, and on the rare occasion I've had an item go bad before opening, the staff has been incredibly helpful and happy to exchange it. The team here is friendly, efficient, and always provides a great shopping experience.

Well, okay -- parking is usually a challenge at most…read moreTJs -- but this location gets bonus points for its hands-free, ticketless parking garage. It's so easy to get in and out, and since I temporarily live a 1/2 block away, it's especially convenient for me. This Santa Monica Trader Joe's is easily one of my favorites. The store is clean, well organized, and easy to navigate, with everything you'd expect -- pantry staples, fresh produce, and their famously affordable (and beautiful) flowers. What makes ALL Trader Joe's locations stand out, though, is their staff. The teams are always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and they make every visit pleasant. The only downsides are: 1. The store is underground, there's basically no mobile service inside -- so definitely screenshot your shopping list before you go in. This makes looking up recipes impossible. They need to get store wifi for customers, like Vons. 2. It's a bit smaller than most other TJ's, but it still covers most of what I need. And if they don't have something, there's a newly opened Vons just two blocks up Broadway. Overall, this is a gem of a store in a fantastic location -- truly one of the best grocery spots in Santa Monica.

They even have vendors who sell homemade dog treats and soaps. The layout of the farmer's market was confusing to me at first, but it stretches across two different streets separated by a crosswalk. Not only did the manager in glasses show a complete lack of basic compassion and empathy and humanity by caring more about me filling his report so him and the store not get in trouble, than actually seeing if I was hurt, He asked me dismissively if I was ok, didn't even help me up and just wanted me to fill a thing, and when I told him how I felt he got defensive and didn't gave a shit about making it better in any sort of way.. he started to argue with me.. I left the store, crying, upset in pain ( I hurt my knee really bad) and completely not taken care of and paying the little bit of things I had. He didn't even offer any kind of compensation to make up for their negligence, but his attitude made things even worse. I have been a long time Vons customer, specially the Palisades Vons and have always loved the employees and been really sweet to them. I never right bad reviews but I as really angry about this. They've got a nice butcher section with fresh meat and seafood. There's a deli case with close to 20 items -- ribs, chicken, lasagna, mac 'n cheese, soup and more, depending on the day. They've got about a dozen salads, including three potato salads, and about as many deli meats for sandwiches. The beef stew was excellent, the lasagna, chili and meatloaf also very good. The sandwiches are solid and very reasonably priced. Two things stand out for me here: their weekend barbecue and the tamales. Someone in their kitchen makes delicious Oaxacan tamales (which are not always available). These tamales are chock full of chicken mole -- perhaps the highest ratio of filling to masa that I've had -- and are neatly wrapped in banana leaves. The burritos are similarly pre-made and stuffed to the gills with the protein of the day. As for the weekend barbecue, every Saturday and Sunday morning they grill select meats from the deli (prime steaks, tri tip, chicken, etc) which you can buy throughout the day at the deli. The Farms also has fresh vegetables, premade salads and all the other items you'd expect from a neighborhood grocery store. Service is super friendly, and there's free parking in back. It's definitely a good spot for a meal to go.

I thanked her and asked where her lovely accent was from...she replied 'Burma,' next to Thailand. I immediately said, 'oooh I Love Burmese Rubies!' She was shocked I knew, I smiled, winked and thanked her again :) And right outside this 7 eleven is a guy selling fresh flowers. The flowers, particularly the stargazer lilies looked so fresh and intoxicatingly fragrant, wanted to buy a bunch but didn't have enough cash on hand. I spoke to the floral guy Ramon in Spanish and complimented him on the lovely flowers. Within 5 seconds he put together a bouquet and gifted them to me...such a thoughtful gesture. Sometimes they have an attitude. Sometimes they're better. Excuse me? I came here to shop and there's four different crates there. Why can't they do this in the early morning and evening instead of during lunch hour? And of course like I mentioned no matter when I go there they're doing it. And sometimes the two people that are supposed to be unloading the merchandise are just standing there talking to each other. So that takes up more room with two bodies standing there where it's literally where I can't maneuver or move and then the other customers are trying to maneuver and move through this maze as well. It makes me not want to shop there because it's a lot of stress just to be able to maneuver and squeeze around these crates and then the to employees that are supposed to unpack those or just standing there and talking. It's usually been an older crowd that's wanted whatever health products were popular 10-20 years ago. At one point during the late 90's and early 00's, it was tremendously popular with the celebrity class of LA, and it was Erewhon before there was Erewhon. It has since drifted into a more relaxed, slightly frumpier incarnation now in 2026. As you can see from all the 1 and 5 star reviews, it's a place that inspires both stubborn loyalty and intense frustration in equal measure, and I think that about sums up experience for the uninitiated. You'll see that I've split the difference with this 3 star review in an attempt to capture reality. This is far from a perfect grocery store -- the prices are high, a lot of the produce is not looking so good, the milk is always about to expire, the aisles are poorly organized, they're missing lots of things you want. But it's also a real co-op and not a chain, it's possible to eat healthfully from here, and they are extremely responsive to their member's (numerously and frequently delusional and extremely SaMo) requests. The angry reviews about bad service here are overblown; I've been here dozens of times and never had a problem. And as long as it's member-owned, it can always change for the better very quickly, which I've seen happen here before, and may happen again. Personally, my reason for not shopping here is just the poor organization of the store overall, selection of dry goods which are widely second-rate to me, and shabby, soon-to-be-expiring produce and perishables attached to a luxury price. I see no reason to shop here when I have the SaMo farmer's market AND better organized specialty stores like Erehwon or McCall's right near by -- which are, despite what numerous reviews here desperately proclaim, the exact same price point as Co-Opportunity. I hope this clears up why the reviews here are all-over-the-place, it's because the store is too!
