I'm here fairly often, at least twice a week. It's well stocked and organized and although the quality isn't like the new Whole Foods standards (or prices!) this is totally the place to go for the essentials, one your way home to grab dinner, or to do your full weeks shopping because of the excellent staff. Well, except for the floral department. Anytime I pick something up there that needs to be wrapped up or need any help of any kind I seriously feel like they hate their jobs. Smile! It's flowers! But you produce guys? You've got it down, thanks for being so helpful and nice always. They always greet me and ask if I'm finding everything okay, rest assured Vons employees! My cart is filled with dairy and gluten I shouldn't be eating, but thanks for checking! The parking lot can be cray cray but the front end clerks keep the carts cleaned up. Stop signs are usually for stopping dear people of SB, come to a complete halt and check it out next time you're there. A note on the bag charge for 10 cents, thats a Solana Beach law and not necessarily the preference of the store. It's good for the environment so get over it haters. read more

Solid grocery store. Conveniently located just off the 5 Fwy, I stop here occasionally to pick up a few groceries on my way up to Carlsbad. I visit the area for 6 days a month so I had to find a spot to pick up some essentials for a road warrior. The store is always kept very clean, the staff is friendly, and the lines move quickly. I don't purchase fresh groceries here, so I can't comment on the meat or produce areas. I usually pick up some Wine, Beer, Bottled Water and the occasional snack. Parking is pretty good and there are plenty of shops in the shopping center for you to browse. Will I return? You bet. read more

This is the worst Vons I have ever been too. Martha is RUDE all the time, likes to chat with other employees rather than actually help customers. I have had many issues buying expired items that were for some reason still on the shelf, along with items that have been opened already. GO TO ANOTHER STORE!! read more

I've shopped at this vons since it opened, previously located west of 5 by Savon/cvs, 28 years. What I don't understand is why it's not stocked better all the other area vons keep stocking their shelves this one no ask for something and you get the SB line "we're busy can't keep stopping to restock sold out items" go to vons Santa Fe stocked, vons el Camino real. Never have this problem other vons, ralphs ir smart and final. We have all been told by management that stocking liquor and wine is vons SB #1 goal top selling items! I hate Vons. I literally hate them. Every single time I come to Vons there are huge lines at the checkout. It's dinner time and only 2 of 9 checkouts open. I want so badly to just walkout. The flowers were really large and they were generous with the number of blooms as well and selecting 3 branches that offered blooms in various phases; makes the bouquet last longer.... their floral department had many other options...I'll definitely come here again to purchase last minute flowers for my Del Mar/Solana Beach dinner party peeps... read more

Pharmacy is very inadequate. Man who works there (pharmacist or other position) named Dennis...rude & argumentative and made this experience so very unpleasant and he also gave incorrect information. Others are very helpful and knowledgeable so I finally picked up my cosmetic prescription..all's well that ends well. Assistant pharmacist heard interaction as well as lady who rang up the purchase. He called me aside and we discussed and he apologized. So..I suggest using any other pharmacy than this one if you can. Serious meds & this attitude would be pathetic and disheartening. I only go to this store only for certain things. Long lines, poor stocking, they have a gazillion boxes of couscous, rice but no tabaouli which I went in there for. Very rude lady in produce section and always seems very unfriendly. Some of the cashiers are very nice. After today's experience, I will make an effort to shop elsewhere. read more

Love this Vons. So big. Big parking lot. Lots of staff on hand so you don't usually have to wait in line for very long. I just can never find anything here only because it is not my regular store. I just wanted to express that it's not the fault of the Pharmacy staff that the systems are from the 1980's. The management above upper management needs to hear this. Your employees are suffering because you don't give them enough help. Your pharmacies are always understaffed, highly disorganized, and lack fluidity. The company is so greedy that they only staff the bare minimum, even at extremely busy stores. The Pharmacy needs more staffing for sure. To top it off, the Pharmacy systems are extremely outdated. 1980's MS DOS lookin screens. You guys are so sheisty that you can't even update your systems with all the money you've been making.. I'm surprised Vons Pharmacy is even up and running. Before doing any type of promotions, you need to rework your infrastructure. Your computer systems suck. read more

We love this Von"s. The people that work here are so friendly and helpful. I love the produce department. They offer various sizes of fruit trays and veggie trays. They have a deli and will make you a sandwich, serve you fried chicken, chicken wings or a bowl of soup. The bakery has a good variety of items ranging from donuts and bagels, to fresh cookies, cakes and artisan breads. The prices are average. The selection of groceries is average. Don't forget your own bags or they always have fun Von's bags you can buy for cheap. read more

Not a bad Vons. Parking can be crazy, but the floral department is beautiful! There's one big Latina cashier that is rarely in a good mood and seems bothered by everything so minus a star for her! Deli department tends to seem bothered by any requests. Don't even think about asking the butcher department to filet any meats- what a mess! I really enjoy shopping at this particular Vons, and I even find a way to go here rather than the Vons closer to my home in Oceanside. They always seem to have what I need, and the customer service to help me find an item has always been awesome. I like the layout of this store's produce department too, and it has a great selection of organic produce available. The thing I dislike most about this store is that the lines always seem to be long and never enough cashiers. I really don't understand. TIP: Download the Vons app before you go, so you can add all the Just For You and sale coupons before arriving at the store. By doing this it will help you generate a list of items you need to shop for and also remind you about any extra good deals going on that week. read more

I work right up the street and really enjoy the turkey pesto avocado but have came here a few times and the gentlemen helping in the deli always had a horrible attitude and customer service . Today I decided to give it another shot as I was craving this particular sandwich for lunch and Shela was very friendly and accommodating with my order and the changed I wanted in it. Was a loyal fan of Safeway's until I moved to SoCal and discovered the arbitrage pricing at Von's. Grrr....my produce never tasted so flat. One saving grace: chewy chocolate cookies! The expensive $4.50 for 1 dozen kind sold in the bakery section. I could eat them all day! read more

I came in on a Sunday recently to order a cake for my daughter's birthday two days later. I thought I had been clear with the bakery clerk about what day I wanted things, but when I went to pick up the cake, the order wasn't ready. The clerk on the day of the order pick up (Chloe) wasn't sure how to best help me, but upon seeing that the cake decorator had gone home for the day, she found the store director to see how she wanted to handle the issue. I should have looked better at the cake order being written and noticed that even though I told the original clerk when I order it that it was for Tuesday, she had written a date other than that specific Tuesday I had asked for. Regardless of any of those ordering issues, the store director and Chloe did their very best to make sure my daughter had a cake with decorations for her birthday. I feel that they came up with the best possible resolution we could have under the circumstances. The cake was great, too. read more

Goodness, why would they come up with the marketing campaign: "more then 3 people per lane, we'll open another" talk about over promising and under delivering. I have shopped at this VONS for many years, and I've always appreciated the store's cleanliness, well stocked shelves, and prices. The one thing I've always been frustrated with is the deli counter. It's always been slow, but it's gotten worse and worse over time. Given that I always go to the deli counter, I have decided to give up on this store. Vons has gradually been driving away my business, this Vons more than others. First noticed seriously higher prices at Vons than other grocers in 2012. Then realized this Solana Beach Vons often charges even more for the same product than the Vons a couple miles up the road. Here's the last straw. Went to donate coins to a charity via the Coinstar machine at this Vons. Clicked on donate to charity & the ONLY charity that came up was a "Safeway Foundation". Clicked "Other" to find the list all charities supported & none were shown, but a 4 space prompt came up to enter the code for the charity you want. BUT there was no list of codes for other charities on or near the machine, or even on the Coinstar website. This felt downright dirty. Coinstar is partly responsible too, for loosening their policies to allow this kind of manipulation & misleading patrons. In the past you could count on all supported charities being shown & available on any Coinstar machine. Talk about lip service to charity. "Safeway Foundation" indeed! read more

This store is great! All workers are very friendly, especially at the Deli (Taresa E. ) and Floral Departments (Debbie, Laura). And the Floral Department has always fresh flowers, great selection and a very nice and friendly team. Debbie and Laura are always very helpful and friendly with the customers. This is a review for the pharmacy. Worst service ever . Used before and the same thing is happening again. They don't pick up doctor's offices messages for hours, when I called them when my antibiotics will be ready the answer was in an hour??? After 2 hours they already had just for simple count of 10 antibiotics. Their lunch from 12 till 3 pm as well! Won't use it again . There are plenty pharmacies around who will appreciate my business and provide a better service. read more
