In a pinch, CVS Pharmacy has got what you need at decent prices with occasional discounts or deals benefiting frequent buyers. Situated in its own dedicated parking lot along the main road within Solana Beach, CVS gets quite a bit of foot traffic from pedestrians out on their daily walk, run, and swim. The lot is typically vacant for shoppers so it's a convenient stop to get things quick. I came in specifically to stock up on sunscreen during my visit to San Diego county as I had forgotten to pack it in my luggage. When you're in sunny San Diego, you better lather up before you burn! As I walked in the store, the staff greeted me and as I was browsing the aisles, they inquired and directed me to where I needed to go for the sunblock options. I appreciated them taking time out of their morning restocking and inventory runs to help me out. The sunblock section was organized and had nearly every brand you could have wanted including the Blue Lizard one we typically use. Sprays and lotions were available with varying SPF ratings. To top things off, many of them had deals to earn you additional CVS cash that can be used at the store for future purchases. When I went to go pay, they primarily had self checkout kiosks. It was quick and easy but should you need any assistance, the staff are at the ready to get you sorted. Overall, CVS shines in its convenience and this one is well stocked for all of your everyday needs. What truly makes the difference for me was the level of customer service offered from the first step in the store to the checkout process. I was satisfied with my experience with the store because of its friendly staff and the abundance of options for each type of item. Every CVS has a pharmacy and the usual goods consumers need. But they are not equal in how well they value their customers. THIS location deserves special mention because of their customer service . I made a quick stop to grab a few things I needed on Sunday 03/27/2025 at around 6:55 . While shopping my little one requested the bathroom so we went to the back where we found it locked so we asked if we could use it and the girl at the front said she couldn't let me use it because they were closed I was confused because I was in the store and people were coming in I asked if the store was closed and she said no the pharmacy , I asked if I could speak to a manager and she proceeded to say no sorry they are on break . Doctor sends prescription, CVS sends my wife a text saying "we ain't got none" and to call, I called, endless hell loop of AI horrible voice recognition with no accurate options. Try leaving voicemail, ended up calling and got front of store, they said "nothin we can dew". I am BEGGING them to be a pharmacy. This is absolute keepers of the crypt level, maybe if you want a candy bar they'll give you one with a 20' receipt when you check yourself out, but otherwise, this is where hell is kept. This staff at this CVS are quite unhelpful. The second there is no line the person behind the counter disappears, so when you are ready to check out you have to wait several minutes while you try to get someone's attention. They don't wear anything to distinguish them as staff so they are not easy to find. You can usually find what you are looking for from groceries to OTC medications and the pricing is average. read more

I was dispensed a topical solution for treatment of arthritis but the pump bottle failed to work. When I returned the bottle to the pharmacist, ElHam, requesting that she return it to the manufacturer and dispense a new unit, she informed me that it was my responsibility to contact the manufacturer and request that a new unit be sent to this CVS Pharmacy. Elham added that this issue with the faulty pump dispenser has occurred with other customers and they have too were told to call the manufacturer directly. Well, this is an interesting approach to customer centricity--one of the largest pharmacy chains as well as 1 of the 3 largest PBMs apparently has the policy that if a medication is manufactured in a defective manner, it is up to the customer to work through a resolution with the manufacturer! Before leaving the pharmacy, I requested that the store manager contact me, however, so far, no one has bothered to call me. Suggest finding another pharmacy for your health care needs. read more

I wasn't very impressed with this store. Being in Solana Beach, it is in an upscale city of San Diego county. A person walked into the restroom that has no key or keycode with a fullsize, fully loaded backpack and was in the restroom for 20 minutes, I had checked the time that he entered, because I had suspected he probably went in there to bathe in the sink. He was laughing and such while he was in there, probably cellphoning, texting, etc. When I left he was loitering out in front with a bicycle and his pack, sitting right at the door. Inside the store, in the health and beauty aids section, today, 09/23/2023, there was still a sale tag on a shelf item whose sale ended on 09/16/3023. Being less than mile away from the San Diego fairgrounds, as well as the very popular Del Mar racetrack, as well as being in the affluent Solana Beach city, this CVS should be a model store, but it is far from it. It needs a lot of management TLC to get it up to speed to its' surrounds. Its' location does not match the upkeep of the store itself. read more

We decided at the last minute to go to an event which would require low beach chairs. As I'd just moved, I had none (or maybe I didn't know where they were). We didn't have our car with us, so our options for places to look for chairs was limited. Decided to pop into the CVS in case they had something we could settle on. I was pleasantly surprised. They had several options in several colors at decent prices. It might have been cheaper at another location, but not by much. And given that I'd walked there and the price of gas nowadays, would I even have saved anything? Probably not. This is a pretty convenient location. They have pharmaceutical goods, but they also have food and drinks, toys, care products, sandals, etc. If you are staying at a nearby resort/hotel and need to grab something, such as emergency water bottles, you can walk over here and get it, rather than have to drive over to Vons. There's also various souvenirs, which makes sense, considering Solana Beach is pretty popular with tourists. The inside is pretty clean and maintained, and so is the parking lot. So, it's basically just like every other CVS I've been inside. Nothing too special, but if you need to pick up something, be it medication or Maruchan Ramen, you should consider stopping in here. read more

Check you expiration dates on everything! I went to grab a drink from the refrigerated section, they only had 1 bottle of the drink I wanted and it was over a year expired! I ended up buying a Mt. Dew (non refrigerated section) and some cold medicine. That night I slept aweful and was so stuffed up. I was wondering why the cold meds didnt work. Looked at the expiration and they were days away from being expired. Opened the Mt. Dew and no fizz and tasted weird. Check out the expiration and it was expired in 2 days. Doesnt Mt Dew, doesnt it have a shelf life of like 5000 years?! Gross, waste of time and $. read more

Cvs pharmacy used to answer their phone. They don't anymore! This is maddening! I totally incorrect prescription was delivered to me but I cannot get a hold of them to notify them that it wasn't the correct prescription and to please give me a credit. You said if you wait too long you can't return the prescription even though it was incorrect in the first place so the quality of the service at CVS has gone down to a very low level! I went to the ER for a very painful shoulder issue. They sent my prescription to this CVS at my request. When I arrived there straight from the ER, they had JUST closed the pharmacy as i walked up. I asked if they could transfer my prescription to another CVS that was open later. However due to the type of medication, they were unable to do so. I was in extreme pain and really needed the pain medication. I literally started sobbing I was so frustrated and in excruciating pain. As I walked out the door, trying to call the ER, the pharmacist ran out after me and told me they would open back up and fill my prescription. I was SSOoooo grateful. They have restored my faith in humanity, which seems to have diminished lately! It made me feel like this was my local independently owned pharmacy, not a big company location. I don't know their names, but it was a female pharmacist and a male colleague (not sure what his position was) and this happened last night. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I hope management reads these reviews and will commend these two employees. You are fortunate to have such dedicated and kind people on your staff! I am definitely a loyal customer. read more

The BEST CVS I have ever been too! These employers are extremely kind and gentle in person and over the phone. They inform me over the phone with all the details I need from my doctors orders. Things like what brand and manufacturer they currently have in stock or can be ordered. Every single time I got there the pharmacist has ALWAYS made me feel at home. I've been there easily over 50 times. The entire staff in the pharmacy just have great synergy. I am very blessed to have around and am proud to have them as my numero uno pharmacy of choice. Seams The Management in this location likes to call the cops on homeless people I witnessed an obviously 51/50 person (female) at the store today she had a problem with her phone sh purchased at the same CVS sore. The Police had been called and were at the scene when I arrived. When I worked at the San Diego Fair last summer I use to find different ways of coming in to work to avoid all the Fair traffic. Well my favorite was driving up to the Solana Beach exit and coming South on the 101. And in doing so it would drive me right past this Longs every day. Well I'm a candy nut and can't help stopping at a drug store for candy on the way to work. So I discovered this Long's. Kinda on the small side compared to today's standards, but it gets the job done for the locals. I thought the energy drinks and beer was priced a little high, but for convenience at the beach you could do worse. They even had beach chairs and other paraphanelia on sale and how convenient is that? Nice people in a nice store. I even got my Burt's Bees Chapstick and some peppermint soap while I was there. read more

Very poor pharmacy staff. Weekend pharmacist Ta could not figure out how to successfully enter my insurance information into the system and told me she would have to contact a pharmacist at another store to figure it out. Because the order had been incorrectly keyed in during the previous week I was being overcharged for the prescription. Even if I had agreed to the overcharge the staff put the medication in the wrong bin during the week and Ta and the cashier (Bridget) couldn't find it and told us they didn't have time to look. We have gone to the store 3 times now, insurance card in hand and asked them to please enter the correct insurance information to no avail. Hoping the prescribing physician would have better luck, we asked my physician's office to call in with the correct information last week and CVS STILL can't get it right. 5 days now and still no medication. We asked the weekend store manager (Brett) to assist us but he was unfamiliar with the order system and couldn't help ensure the order was entered correctly, which, I suppose is understandable. He was nice and looked through the bins however and we appreciated that. You may want to consider going elsewhere for your prescriptions to ensure they are processed in an accurate and timely way. read more

Refilled and paid for a 90-day prescription but pharmacist Le Mykhanh only gave me a 30 day supply. When I called she said they normally filled prescriptions for 30 days. She laughed, and said that she would supply the other 60 pills. When I picked them up the pharmacist apologized, BUT I still had to spend over an hour and drove 45 miles to fix their problem. THAT DOES NOT MAKE US EVEN! Did not offer anything other than apology .The worst thing you can say about a business is that they just don't care! CVS doesn't care so we are taking our business to COSTCO, where they do care. read more
