I can't rave enough about Susana at Voodoo's! I originally booked with her for a balayage after seeing her work on someone else's hair in person and I'm so glad I did. I had been going to someone else for a little over a year who was amazing too, but Napa is less of a commute for me. You can definitely tell she's been doing this for a long time - she's a master at her craft. I seriously get compliments on my hair ALL the time. She's professional, timely, and very detail oriented. I asked for a blended dimensional balayage and am currently in the process of going lighter with my hair. Everyone know's how scary it is to try a new hair stylist, but I would 10/10 recommend booking with her. I always feel comfy in her chair, and look forward to my next appointment. As for me: I have a lot of hair but it's very fine. She knows exactly how to color it (I get highlights every 8-10 weeks). About Suzanna, went here for a consultation and shadow root. At the consultation Suzanna was very nice and said she couldn't do the hair style I wanted but she could do the color. I went through with the appointment and got my hair done. IT LOOKED NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURE! She kept saying how good it looked and "didn't think she could pull it off" I was trying not to cry so I paid her what she told me I owed (double the amount quoted). Now that I've had time I realize I didn't dislike it because it was new to me, it just is 100% not what I asked for. It's not necessarily terrible it's just not the right color, cut, and won't match my roots. I called to tell her and she said it was my hairs fault for being damaged from bleaching. I told her if she couldn't do what I wanted she should have told me but she says that was my fault because I shouldn't have expected my hair to look nice because it was damaged. She said I could come back but I told her I didn't feel comfortable and she hung up on me after being super hostile on the phone for 15 min. It's a shame because she seemed nice but charging so much and not doing anything like the style I requested, I won't go back. She told me I'd have bad karma for complaining but I don't want others to have the same experience! So bummed out, my hair looks so bad. It's weird and grey. She keeps saying it'll wash out and look nice but there's no way. It looks like I was going grey and tried to dye it at home and ran out of dye. Don't say I didn't warn you! I have been seeing Kevin for over 12 years. I have recently cut all ties with him, and my review of the salon is a reflection of allowing him to work there. Kevin has extremely poor time management, and doesn't respect your time as a client. It's been an ongoing problem for years, and has gotten significantly worse in the last year. He is very good at cutting hair, but his customer service skills are extremely lacking in the current year. He doesn't respect his customers time in the slightest, Kevin is a consistent no show to his appointments and doesn't respond to text or phone calls in regards to them. Of my last 5 appointments made to him, he was a no show for 4 of them. He never responded to my texts or phone calls for any of them, and yet I continued to try to go to see him because of our past working relationship and trying to be as patient as I could be with him. I left him a 3/5 star review on his booking website (which is now is a 1/5), and he responded by sending me unhinged, abusive, gaslighting text messages. I will not be showing any snippets of the text messages out of respect of privacy, but they were extremely negative and, like I said, verbally abusive and childish. To summarize my 3/5 (now 1/5) review on schedulicity, it basically said: "He's been no showing appointments and doesn't respond to texts or phone calls, and its been unprofessional. When he shows up his hair cuts are very good, but it's very hard to get him to show up anymore. I would triple check he'll be there that day if you schedule with him. Somethings going on with him in his personal life and I hope it gets resolved" My text messages in response to his? As professional as I could be while being honest with him about his performance. I'm absolutely flabbergasted at the amount of rancor, gaslighting, and disrespect in his messages to me, to the point that I'd be fearful even stepping foot into Voodoo to have my hair cut by another stylist. Unfortunately, Voodoo as a whole will have to receive a 1/5 review from me due to the continued allowance of having someone like Kevin working there. All of the stylists there are aware of his behavior which is a shame because the salon itself is great and I would be willing to reconsider my rating in the future but for now this is the only way I know how to help people understand what they may experience working with a particular part of the salon as a whole. If you go to Voodoo I highly recommend you schedule with literally anybody but Kevin. read more

SOMMER HOGUE IS THE BEST!!! She Knows What She is Doing!!! I have Curly/Kinky long hair and it is hard to find a Stylist in Napa that actually WANTS TO TOUCH MY HAIR!! Most of them look at me and ask me a bunch of questions about my hair and they say they can "try" to work on my hair. I found someone in Napa years ago who had experience working on my type of hair but she moved so I had to try to trust someone else working on my hair. I researched and Found Sommer on Voodoo Hair Salon scheduling site and I felt like she would be someone I could trust that would have confidence working on my hair. I was Not Wrong! She spent a lot of time on my hair and she even gave me tips to keep my hair healthy. She is very knowledgeable and she is the only one I can trust to do my hair right!!! Once in a while when I am near my home town I like to stop in and get a haircut & color at Voodoos. This time I was VERY dissapointed. The color I got was inconsistent, the hairdresser bairly trimmed my hair, and then I was rushed out at the end after she insisted that she finish my hair with some styling (I have super thick hair). I wanted a new look with heavy layers but ended up with thinned out hair that looked like a boring version of what I came in with. She also tried a new technique that she wasnt familiar with which was executed poorly. It cost me $230! Woah...I left shocked at the price! Overall, the stylist (blanking on her name) was nice but she insisted that she was patient, perceptive, and attentive and she clearly wasn't. I am in a very formal profession and unfortunately I have to wear my hair up everyday now. read more

Summer is absolutely the BEST! Been looking for a new salon because I was not happy with my hairstylist of 7 years. I was so skeptical but after doing some research for a few weeks Summer definitely caught my eye! I came in and she was so welcoming, great energy, super nice! I decided to get my hair done in Napa and, after some research, it became clear that Voodoo was a great salon based on ratings/recommendations. I made an appt with Shelley and was blown away by her expertise!!! She was able to do my roots so perfectly, blending the color of my last product with her preferred brand, resulting in beautiful, shining, blended color. The cut is awesome - easy care but polished and stylish. She listened well and captured who I am and what I want to a "T". I got my first haircut in Napa since moving here and had a great experience with Shelley! She made my hair shiny, sleek, and smooth and got my hair the particular ashy shade of blonde I wanted. She was also super friendly and I learned a lot about the products she was using, plus lots of useful hair care tips. I showed my new cut and color to some friends without mentioning the hair treatment and was told I looked healthier-- so I guess that Olaplex treatment really was good! I had a terrible experience with Amanda at Voodoo. I have been unhappy with my hair in the past, but I am usually forgiving and understand that I probably wasn't clear enough about what I wanted. The problem with Amanda is that she is very unskilled. I have so many things to say about the partial highlight I received from Amanda. -I asked for highlights that would match what I have. The highlights I had asked for should have been gold. The highlights she gave me were WHITE. -My hair felt abused from the overydying. My hair was much frizzier and less healthy. Even the way she styled afterwards was harsh. -Because the highlight color was so off there was a huge seam of color in my hair. Think of this: traveling from my root to tip we had the white highlights she gave me, that all of a sudden turn back into the golden honey highlights I'd had previously. This is because she only dies the top couple of inches of hair. Around my ear area I had a straight edged seam that marked the difference. -The day I left the salon I literally had half an inch of root showing...I have never had so much root showing after a highlight. -My hair was framed backwards....the back of my head was lighter in color than my bang/face area. It honestly looks like she just accidentally missed the front. It made my hair look really trashy when I wore it up. -These things could have been forgivable, but what I can't forgive is how CHUNKY and inconsistant the highlights were. I had to change my hair's part in order to find the area that had the fewest mistakes. I was embarrassed, it looked like I had asked a friend to dye my hair for me. Additionally, Amanda was unapologetically very late to the appointment. If you are going to try this salon I would suggest not making an appointment with Amanda. She's ok to talk to but needs several more years experience before she should be working at a high end salon, unless these are the low standards held by this salon. Low skill, low professionalism, but high prices. read more

My hair took a bit to do, well because it is THICK!! Emily was kind and sweet throughly the entire time. The call was from an associate, however Amber was listening. Yes, I'm a upset. I planned my entire week around this appointment, and desperately need a haircut. I wanted my hair to look it's best for Labor Day weekend, as I have special plans. The associate said Amber can cut my hair tomorrow, however is cancelling my appointment for tonight due to a hand injury from 6 weeks ago. However, I have to be at the airport as my significant other is flying in for the holiday. I have been feeling blue, and it was so important for me to look & feel my best. I expressed to the associate how disappointed I was that she waited until right before my appointment to reach me? I asked why they didn't call earlier, as I could have tried to get in somewhere else? And wanted to know why they are booking evening appointments with Amber I'd she has a hand injury? And is unable to keep her appointments? Without apologizing, Amber took the call over and told me never to call her salon again, as a result of expressing my feelings. I also felt it unprofessional that Amber did not call me to discuss. I have worked in the hair industry for 25 years and have never been treated so unprofessionally. The entire situation was flipped around on me, as though I did something wrong. I'm sure she wouldnt have been pleased if I cancelled last minute. Amber knows I am going through serious health issues myself, I really needed this. I am appalled at the way I have been treated, and disregarded. My time is important too. Had Amber been professional and called me herself, and made some sort of concession, we probably could have worked things out. read more

I also got my hair done by Richard this past June and although I was skeptical at first about letting this guy cut, dye, and style my hair........ I ABSOLUTELY LOVED MY HAIR IN THE END!! Richard had done such a great job on my hair. I traveled all the way from San Jo, Ca because I had heard about his work from a family member and I needed a new hair look for my graduation. Best lil road trip ever lol. He had taken the time to ask about my daily hair routines, how I wear it and what I put in it. I also bought some of the products he uses, "Pureology", great stuff that works. I had thought I was the only one who had traveled a great length to get my hair done, but his next client after me had flown in from NEW YORK just to get his hair cut and dyed from Richard! This at first was unbelievable to me, but as I waited for my hair to dye, I was watching this guys head go from black hair with faded out red chucks of color to thick chunks of this bad ass cherry red color highlighted into this guy's black hair. I should of asked this guy to get a picture of his new hairstyle because it looked amazing That guy was very satisfied with Richard's work he had a constant painted on his face when he was leaving. So after my experience with getting my hair done and watching that guy get his hair done I highly recommend going to this shop, even if you don't get Richard the other stylist's work was very good too, especially the guy with a sick ass pair of scissors tatted on his neck. I think his name is Ryan. The ladies that work there are cool too but I was able to watch Ryan' work from Richard's chair lol. read more

Sommer is AWESOME!!! I moved to Napa 3 years ago and in that time I've had horrible luck with other salons in town that resulted in chemical burns and fried chewing gum hair! I decided to try one more salon in Napa before giving up and driving to SF . Sommer was truly amazing with the entire color correction process and was extremely genuine and not the kind to push you into buying expensive hair products! She actually took the time to show me how to get salon looking hair at home without all the fancy styling products not many of us can afford . If only I had found her sooner ! I see Amber regularly for my cut and color which as always incredible. I got married this weekend, and we took over the salon in the morning. All the girls made us feel so welcome and glamorous. Amber did an amazing job on my hair for the wedding, and was complimented all night. My hair looked as good at 11pm, as it did when I first left the salon! I called around 4pm (super last minute) requesting a hair cut for the same day and they were able to fit me in with Kelly at 5pm, which worked out great with my schedule! Discussed with Kelly future low highlights I'll be wanting and how much I wanted cut off, and then she shampooed/conditioned and cut the perfect amount off. I was long overdue on a trim and she was able to get off all my nasty ends. And for me, letting someone new cut my hair is always nerve-racking but she made me feel extremely comfortable and she did an amazing job! She did a fantastic job on the blow dry also, which left me feeling like a total dime walking out of the place. Lol. For being 'new' to the salon Kelly fit in great and the entire staff and owner were extremely friendly and positive throughout my visit. Highly recommend coming here for hair! I've been going to Amber (the salon owner) for almost 3 years now. Summer did my hair I showed her a picture of what I wanted and made the appointment the same day .then went in for my appointment first off she told me one price 195 ok that was fine , then she charged me a different price when I went in 160 ok fine even better . I knew I was going to have to do a few sessions because I wanted it blonde so I already knew what I was in for so I text her asking how much for the next session because she never told me how much it would be for the second session which I probably should have asked her before but I didn't think anything of it so she tells me oh just another 170 because we have to do the same process all over again , umm what !?! So I wish she would have told me before because if I knew it was going to be a 310$ or more for my hair I would have waited I assumed since she charged me 160 that she was going to just have me pay the rest of the money when I went in for the second session . But nope she was not upfront with me on the prices for everything she should have told me from the beginning the price of everything and how many sessions . My hair is not looking how I wanted it at all ! Honestly barely looks like anything was done to it . It looks jus plain ugly at first I thought it looked ok but washing it and looking at it more I hate it ! She cut my hair a couple years ago and messed it up , guess I should have learned from before huh ! Anyways I haven't died my hair for two years so my hair was pretty much my natural color except for the ends and what was left from my hair a couple years ago the color I died it was like a burgundy purple . So she text me and says we can do a brown and then wait until I can afford to go lighter , why would I pay u more money to go back to brown when that was the color my hair was already after I jus payed u all that money to go lighter ?
