It's now been a year and a half since I started going to Vortex Motorsports. Bob and his team have skillfully taken my stock Cayman S from a fun street car to a semi serious track car. All along the way Bob has carefully explained all of my options, the benefits and the drawbacks, the costs and more, of each significant upgrade that we have discussed. He has been happy to tell me when I DON'T need to spend money on something and also been careful to try to find the most cost effective route to go. While they are beyond capable of handling normal service / repair work on daily driver cars, where they excel is on high performance and track prepared cars. Bob and other members of his team have extensive experience racing, servicing and building full blown race / track cars. Every person I have dealt with at Vortex has been friendly and helpful from the front desk to the technicians (ok every once in a while Bob can be grumpy). LOL. Just kidding. I always enjoy speaking with Heather who is extremely knowledgeable and fun to chat with. Both Bob and Heather have become friends who I trust with my car and my wallet. Professional service on my 911, I wouldn't take my car anywhere else! They did the oil change on my 2017 911 turbo and alignment.

Vortex underfilled my PDK by 2 quarts which required me to go to Tampa Porsche to redo their work at the cost of $1k. Also, they didn't bleed my brakes properly (loose bleeder screw) and left me hunting for a vacuum leak for months. I'm not even sure they did the alignment correctly because toe and camber were out of spec for my car. I won't be bringing my car back here. read more

I have a 1995 Taurus SHO. For the kids out there this has the Yamaha-built 3.0 liter with a Mazda five speed. It was a rocket in the day, and holds up OK today. But it is a unicorn. They made 8500 in 1995, and my local shops won't touch it. When I ran into a timing issue I found Vortex on-line and caled Chris. I flat bedded the car to his crew, explaining I was out of town the next two weeks. They identified the problem along with a cracked vacuum line, and it runs great today. I had them install a couple bolt ons on my 82 911. i figured it would cost maybe 1200 - 1600 high end because it was an expensive shop. but really i looked up how to install most of the parts and knew the actual time for a skilled mechnic would be much less. i got there to pay and they charged me 2800. they charged me 4 hours of labor to install 9haus plug and play lights they claim were not plug and play but they were. mind you this is at 200 an hour. so after this i figured alright at least it was done well. i picked it up on friday and got home and took went out. when i came out to start my car again it would not start, i finally got it start after 15 minutes of trying and it started w a loud boom. the next day i tried to drive it again, it started cold ok, then on the way back it started to hesitate under acceleration. i messaged them on IG and they did respond, and we arranged for them to get teh car towed and take care of it. so they did and told me it was a distributor wire that was loose. so a couple weeks later i'm driving and the car stops going into gear, i had them installa. short shift kit for me as well. luckily i was on my way to numeric racing and i made it there. the clamp to hold the shifter in place in the tunnel had just come off. i also noticed that the headlights they installed for me aren't flush like they should be and one of them has the foam from the packaging in the actual light housing. i would never bring a car there again. not to mention when i brought up how i wasn't happy w what they charged me Bob yelled at me and i walked out and got in my car because i didn't want to have a screaming match. he followed me out and i told him i didn't want to argue and he yelled something else at me and went inside. seems like a lousy way to treat a customer w legit concerns, especially when your mechanics who over charged like crazy and did bad work had screwed up a customers car. read more

It took much longer than they projected which was quite frustrating. However, they did professional work on my ride by finding and fixing the vacuum leaks that were apparently causing my supercharged vehicle to not idle smoothly. They certainly know what they are doing. But, being the only major place that specializes in modified cars in the entire Tampa Bay Area, they are not the fastest nor do they pretend to be. read more

I called then 3 times to get a quote. I never got any phone call back. Today I drove to their location to get a quote for my car... after waiting for 15 minutes and no one where able to even say "hello". They told me I have to wait to talk to someone to get the quote. Their customer service sucks!!! the people at front are unfriendly and mad. I left without a quote or anything... While I was waiting I heard unhappy customers yelling at the lady at the front desk. Porsche experts....the best I've dealt with Florida. We have 3 very good dealerships but these guys are tops. Since Bob is a long time PCA guy with great deal of knowledge, I really like the personal expert interface when it's comes to my 997. They use top notch parts and brands like MOTUL. Try getting that from the dealer. I needed very specific, toned down alignment settings to help with the rear tire wear. They were right on the mark and included me in the process before, during, and after. They do equal or better work than than our dealers for less cost. I made an appointment, came in, they got me started right away and even after I added a task or two, got me finished in half the time I was at the Porsche dealer. I'll be taking my MINI S coupe there as well. Highly recommended. Great to deal with. Porsche, BMW, MINI service and more. And I'm one picky Porsche guy........... read more

Worst experience with a shop I have ever had. Incompetent management and staff. Their arrogance is only rivaled by their ignorance. Some of the things they said were so far off from true it was shocking and if you question it or point out any of the facts that are lost on them they get extremely defensive and the service you receive gets even worse. $105/hr and they charge you dealer book labor times so you end up paying for twice as much time as it would take a competent mechanic to do the job. They had my car for a week for minor work and they just threw the parts in and everything had to be redone. The manager completely stops replying to emails after they have your money. This place is used to rich idiots with weekend porsches that will bend over without even questioning their BS and it shows. read more

I am a returning customer to Vortex motorsports. Took my car to Vortex on FEB 1 2015 and did not get my car back until OCT 11 2015. Was told it will be done within 4-6 weeks and called repeatedly and was told they will call me back with more information on it, and I never received a call. Sent them messages on facebook in their messages and did not get a response. This happened all the way from FEB-APR. Call April 6th and asked if the car will be done that coming sat and they told me yes. When I called again on the 9th to confirm, I was told it has not been started and parts have not even been ordered. My initial visit I gave them a significant amount of money because I was told it will be needed to start the process. From that time on I called and check on my car just about every week and was always told they are working on it. The new general manage told me it should be done within two weeks. Called within that two weeks and was told it will be another two weeks and got that response until then beginning of Aug. At that time I told them I will be coming to get my car and wanted it put back together they way it was when I brought it in and I will be taking legal action against them. When the owner heard about the situation he said he would guarantee that "I will be done by Sep 30, 2015" and it will be for the quoted price. I still called just about every week and was given excuses as to why it could not be done. I was then told that it will be done well before the 30th. Late in the middle of SEP I was told the car is mechanically finished and only needs a tune. And should be done the 24th of SEP. I Called the week before the 24th and was told it will be done that weekend. When the time came it was not completed. So I called about every other day to see the progress and was told it will be done by the 30th. Called on the 29th and found out it will not be done by the 30th. I asked for compensation for the inconvenience and was told i will pay half of the labor and then gave my final balance. After that, stuff supposedly broke and I found out I had to pay more they I was told. I finally picked up my car and decided to pay the final amount and to prevent and argument at the time. I informed the owner of the situation and only requested that I get the money that I paid on the 11th of OCT 2015 refunded. He said he would only give me part of that because he was already loosing money on this deal and is not willing to do so. After getting my car back I was told it was "conservatively tuned around 700HP". They could not give me actual number because their dyno was "broken" after they just recently had it fixed. I took it to another tuner and had it put on the dyno and it make 293HP to the wheels on a Mustang dyno. Far from 700HP I was told. I also noticed my shift was put in incorrectly. I confronted them about that and they said they did not even touch that, which since I have owned the car I have never pulled the shifter or had it pulled. Head lights were also not put incorrectly. So all in all they do not seen to have any attention to detail and only seem to care about they money you are giving them and not the quality of work that is coming out of the shop or the customer service that is provided. read more
