As a former student of Voyagers' I can honestly say everything below is from my personal experiences from attending this "school." I quote school because I don't feel that it should be called a school. It's filled with deception, cover ups, empty promises, mostly non educated and non certified teachers in the areas they are teaching & double standards at every corner you look & turn. So if you are looking to attend Voyagers' or already have looked at it you need to be informed about certain aspects of this "school" that are hidden so well that you don't see them. First thing is, the moment you walk through those doors they suck you in, making it look like it's a perfect "utopian community," when it's not. They make it seem like everyone has a voice in this supposedly democratic community. But how is it a democratic community when the fact is "one" person has the final say? How is it a community if you don't agree with their views or bring up something they don't agree with your voice is automatically shot down & goes on deaf ears? Normally a "community" is when everyone listens and is open to what you have to say but you WON'T find it here, believe me. Secondly, academically I feel along with many others that the teachers simply don't know how to teach. It would make sense since most don't have a degree in the subjects. Although the perception is they are fully degreed in the subject areas. Also I have seen that the staff does not properly address the kids when there is conflict with another. They tell the kids to solve their own problems, to work it out among themselves & not tell the parents specifically what goes on. But they only tell the parents certain things to get them on their side, through manipulation tactics. Simply, there's lack of discipline & so the problems continue. Not to mention the other aspects like the double standards, how the cost are way too high, how anything positive they take full credit for & anything negative they distance themselves from and the limited extra curricular activities. So the bottom line is that a thin line was drawn with me and it was crossed way too far. Especially after so many things that have happened over the years. There's better options than this one so don't waste your money & be very careful before getting yourself into a mess, waiting to unfold before your eyes. This is a terrible school that is UNACCREDITED (which is a FACT) that is represented and promoted as being otherwise and should be SHUT DOWN before any others are hurt beyond who has already been hurt by the tactics. And I repeat THIS IS A FACT that CANNOT be disputed. Just check this out with any school accrediting agency in the USA and you'll find the school HAS NO accreditation. This is a very serious matter as in 2014 we found out that our children had to repeat all of high school after WASTING 2 YEARS of our time and money. And to add insult to injury there has been no response from the school concerning our requests to return our monies since the credits are invalid and can't be transferred to accredited schools who look in to it. That is any school that checks in to accreditation will know immediately and won't accept the credits or diploma from this place and any school that does accept it just DOESN'T KNOW about THE FACT that the school LACKS ANY ACCREDITATION or were just told the school has accreditation and this is something that runs deep. In addition, aside from the fact that most schools won't accept or recognize a diploma from an unaccredited institution like this one most employers won't accept it either if they require it. So as a public service to forewarn those who have already graduated or are currently attending the school they're in a compromised position as the Diploma is not valid although it is passed off as being fully legitimate with a transcript showing credits, grades and a GPA as well as through other calculated methods. Some parties just don't know or didn't look in to it but when they find out that it is just a worthless piece of paper they will probably have to take a GED or redo HS as our children are doing. So do yourself a favor and avoid the heartache and trouble and look elsewhere for an ACTUAL ACCREDITED school or LEAVE NOW before you find yourself in the same situation we're in. read more

The Voyagers school is very unique and helps to foster creativity, academic growth, leadership, entrepreneurial skills and more. The teachers are loving, supportive, receptive to feedback and concerns, and attentive to the individual kids needs. For me, I wanted an environment for our children that was exactly this and I see how they strongly implement the vision that the founding director, Karen Giuffre, has laid out. They operate on integrity, and it's very clear with even how they do their financial aid on a sliding scale ( most private schools have set tuition prices). It is clear that they have sacrificed a lot, to hold true to their vision of having a space for children to grow and develop successfully. I do think that this school may not be for every family, and I think it's important to get clear about what kind of education you want for your child/children. Do your research, ask questions, visit the school and take things from there! Again, both my husband and I are very impressed with the school. We also love how they get outdoors a lot, as I know that this helps to develop children's brains in a positive way. Kids learn so much outdoors in nature! The approach is nontraditional which is a plus for me as that is what I know to be effective in child development. read more

I am been looking at Voyager's for many years for my daughter, but never took the leap to go check it out until last year. My daughter and I BOTH LOVED the school , the philosophy, the supporting staff and the respect that they give all that entire the building. At Voyager's my daughter is a person and not just another number to push through the system. The individualize learning allows my daughter to be part of the process of her own education. Her teachers have been attentive to her educational strengths and adjusts, as necessary, if she struggles with a particular skill or concept. She looks forward to going to school everyday. She is excited, she is engaged and she is encouraged to explore. My daughter is no longer just surviving the school day/year....she is now thriving! If you are looking for a supportive educational environment where your child will be respected as a person and fully supported to be the best and brightest they can be... then Voyager's is the place for you. read more

We are so grateful for all that Voyagers' is doing to create a safe, secure, welcoming environment for our children. Having experienced how the preschool teachers managed the return to school for students throughout this summer, we are confident in a safe full return to school for all students this fall. In a time with so many questions, I know this school is doing all that they can to create a safe return to school in September for my children. Separate learning studios, hours outside each day, and COVID health and safety measures are bound to make this next year as good as we can hope for in uncertain times. As a former parent of 2 children that attended this so called "democratic school" I am happy to see the reputation slowly and steadily catch up with the truth. The director is a masterful marketing genius with a tendency toward paranoia when it comes to facts being known about her and her school. Anyone looking to learn about this place should talk to the families that have left over the years. Concentrate of the circles of home schoolers in the area. They know all about it. Visiting the school and listening to the director boast about the façade she's created will never uncover the true nature of this place. It's a toxic environment once you are sucked into it. My son had 10 wonderful years at Voyagers'. He has PDD NOS, Sensory Processing disorder and was able to adapt to this environment without drugs, para's or additional instruction. School was interesting enough for him to keep his attention, he was able to move around throughout his day and got plenty of outdoor time. He thrived in High School and became an excellent student, thinker, public speaker and person. His love of science was highly encouraged and he actually received a full college scholarship for his ideas. Both of us still volunteer for the school and remain close to the staff and families. read more

I am so glad my children go to the Voyagers' Community School. My 9 year old and 4 year old love school more than ever. My 9 year old is much happier since transferring to Voyagers'. Her confidence and spirit has grown so much. There's something really special about Voyagers' Community School, it is much more than just a school. It is a community. It is a family. It is a home away from home. I am so happy to see my girls learning and growing there. And that we are part of the Voyagers' family. how can this place claim all these colleges have accepted graduates when they've only graduated a handful of kids (maybe 10 total if not less) since 2011? And the accreditation problem is definitely a problem. Being listed as a school in a state registry doesn't mean much. Please do a lot of homework before listening to anything they say about themselves. It would be a great place if it really was anything like it says it is...however IT IS NOT! Great school. Very supportive of my child's needs. Too many people expect school to "teach to the tests," and sadly only measure their children's progress against other students and these odious tests. That's too bad.
