The worst experience I've ever had with a barber in years. I came in just want to cut my hair a bit shorter, and sorry I didn't have specific detailed plans cuz I think the barber can help me to decide. I came here twice and had other barbers before, they were very nice to me and gave me advice. But today the guy with long hair and glasses seemed very frustrated when he learnt that I had no plans. He kept speaking very loudly and making eye contact with other people in the room, acting like I'm so ridiculous while shaking his head like he doesn't want to do this. I asked can you be more specific and give me some options (how many inches you can do etc), and he kept complaining and making a scene loudly, which made me very uncomfortable. He kept saying he's professional but his behaviors really wasn't. Eventually he said I'm not the adult because I came here without a plan. And when I was talking with him he mocked my accent and English saying he couldn't understand, very mean and inappropriate. I have been to V's Barbershop 3 times over the past few months and have seen the same barber each time. I started coming here since I was tired of inconsistent cuts from other shops and wanted to try a new place. The barbers are all polite and friendly, the place is nice, and booking appointments has been easy. Unfortunately, that is all I have good to say. The barber I have seen is friendly, but does a poor job with fades and is inconsistent. Each time I went, the barber I saw was nice but complaining about being about to pass out/being under the weather. I tried being understanding to their situation, but leaving a hard line in what is supposed to be an even skin fade along with patchiness left me feeling burned by the overall experience. I kept coming back because I liked the place as a whole and hoped the first two times were just odd one-off experiences. However, I will not be returning and looking for another barber elsewhere due to the inconsistency with the hair cuts I've received after I have been patient enough to give my barber benefit of the doubt. read more

All staff friendly and accommodating. We walked in and couldn't get an appt until the next day--no problem. They managed my toddler well, and it was good vibes all around. The haircut looked great. I'll start by saying that I've been to V's a number of times and I've always had a good experience. Until I came in for a trim today with Zach. I told Zach that I wanted a small trim for my mustache and goatee (I was thinking along the lines of a van dike cut I've gotten before) what resulted was Zach cutting off much more of my mustache and goatee than I wanted/requested. When I told him he cut one side too short he apologized and need to even it up. He then cut the other side of my mustache shorter than the other. I asked for a very small amount to be taken off my upper lip and it's now fully exposed. I'm extremely displeased with this as I'm a bartender and have a wedding reception to work this weekend. I would like to give V's another chance as this is the first bad experience I've had, however this experience was not enjoyable and slightly awkward as Zach was not communicating with me as much as other barbers there have. Edit: It's been about three hours since the appointment and I've noticed irritation on my neck and a small spot where I was nicked. V's is what a true barbershop is supposed to be. Down to that all important !! That should say it all but I'll elaborate a bit. Very personable staff. Sure, there's always going to be a snag or two (reference some poor reviews) but overall, this staff is great at letting you feel comfortable and important. That's not always easy. Granted my head won't make any modeling magazine covers but, for what I have, they did a great job. Love the straight razor neck trim. That has become virtually obsolete in the rush rush chains. I am incredibly impressed! My husband needed his head shaved because he had surgery and couldn't do it himself. The barber not only took the time to completely shave my husband's head but, he also gave my husband tips about which razors to use, how to utilize them in the most effective way and spent extra time teaching my husband how to go on the side of the grain. The other barbers in the shop were also very nice and everyone who came in was greeted by name and recognized. They provide a level of service I never would have expected and I am SO glad my husband got such great service. This is a great way for men to pamper themselves. It is nice to know what I can get my husband for birthdays, anniversaries and holidays! They also sell a tonic that helps with that aftershave feeling! read more

Botched my beard so bad I had to go home and shave it off and could only salvage the stache. Same story with the hair pretty much. It's not as bad as what the beard turned out to be, but it's a style the guy just picked out in his head on his own I guess because I showed him a picture of what I wanted (first pic) and came out like this. Went back in and politely asked for a refund too and explained why and he told me my beard was thin and that's why one cheek was an inch lower than the other and that's why my neck looked jagged as well and then just said he'd have the owner reach out to me. This barber messed my hair up so bad I swear to God please don't come with unless you want your hairline pushed back 4 inches. I'm a 20 year old living human being that has gotten a lot of haircuts in my life. I have never gotten a haircut this bad in my existence of living. Even after he knew he messed my hair up. The other barber seemed fine but mine (Les) gave me a military squared haircut when I even brought in a picture for him to follow. The overall cut literally took 5 minutes and I felt absolutely ripped off for 21 dollars. If you're gonna get your hair cut hair ask for another barber than Les. DO NOT GET HIM. I ended up coming back 10 minutes later to get a buzz cut because he butchered my hair that badly. Went in for a cut and shave last weekend. Not sure on the barbers name but he was covered in tats (which isn't a problem as I am also). Talked the whole time about how he takes pride in his work but did not back it up. The haircut itself wasn't terrible although he missed the left side of my neck entirely and didn't clean up any of the cut hair so my forehead was still covered in hair. The shave was absolutely horrible though. He didn't shave almost one whole side of my face and when I said I just wanted my mustache cleaned up around the edges he almost completely buzzed it off. Then followed with a straight razor and the lines were nowhere near straight so I had to shave it entirely at home. He also talked about how much he didn't like working there almost the whole time. I stopped going to Vs a couple of years ago because Ronnie was extremely creepy and would force me to use him rather than the other barbers I requested. Seriously. I would call in and request another barber when he answered the phone and he would make me feel terrible for not requesting him. The. He would butcher my hair because he wasn't paying attention. He is always yapping on his Bluetooth phone to his family and friends instead of paying attention to his customers. Furthermore Ronnie literally cut my two kids with his electric raisers drawing blood and was unapologetic. Decided to go in last month and THANK GOD Ronnie does not work there. New barbers seem good. Willing to give it another shot. Biggest complaint is that the owner should have fired Ronnie long ago. Instead he let Ronnie ruin the reputation of Vs. I won't get into the other things I heard. I went in today from out of town. Not the kind of barber shop I am acclimated to. The reviews indicated that a bald fade is right up their alley. Every bald fade I have ever had has warm shaving cream and a straight razor on the lower portion. Unfortunately, all that was used was clippers. Not sure if a cosmetology license is the same as a barber license or not, but the license posted said cosmetologist. Truth be told, not all bad, but c'mon, every barber school teaches a bald fade with a razor. Got right in with no appointment. Went in for a shampoo and haircut. My barber seemed to have been hungover from the night before and kept coughing in my face. Not pleasant! And V's advertises a neck massage after the haircut, though while I was waiting for my turn, I did not see any of the 4 people ahead of me receive said neck massage and I didn't get one. Maybe they don't do that anymore? If so, it needs to be removed from their Website. After it was time to pay, my barber said "Oh, you asked for a shampoo, too?",like it was a complete surprise to them. He then gruffly asked if I wanted it, to which I replied "No", just so I could get out of there. Paid and left and won't be back. I had high hopes for the experience, as I fondly recall my barbershop back home. But alas, seems like those days are gone. The neck shave was a bit of nostalgia, though, which was enjoyable. This is a barber shop for millennials. It looks good and the barber I had (young lady with a lot of tat's) was extremely nice. Having spent a great deal of time at military barber shops my expectation is a barber shop is proficient at cutting short hair. I explained explicitly I wanted a number 1 on the side, 2 on top with a little longer in the front. She left the sides long and kept cutting the front even after I re-explained. I'm simple, same haircut for 30 years. Also, when I first went in there were two barbers standing around, I was asked if I had an appointment, no, of course not, who the hell makes appointments for a barber? So I made an appointment for the following day. Also, it's expensive, I live in Washington DC where everything is expensive, I paid almost ten dollars more in Bloomington. read more

This is what Bloomington was severely lacking, a real barbershop. I'm happy to say I found a new barber and am very pleased with this place and their work. The place is new, clean, and has the nicest chairs I've sat in in a barbershop. Lets not forget a nice flat screen in every station, with ESPN on. My favorite part is the straight razor shave with hot shaving cream on your neck then a hot towel and massage to cap off your visit. Great place!
