My basement dehumidifier was not functioning properly and was in need of service. I thought it was the filter, but it was not. The sign on the equipment said Service required so I contacted the company, and Victor was sent to inspect the equipment. Victor came and inspected the equipment and rectified the problem while explaining what the issue was and what he was doing to fix the problem. Victor was great, he was not only timely, informative and friendly, but also told me that if there were any issues to contact the company again. My sump pumps weren't working properly. One was mistakenly tied in to the sewer line. Victor Sa from the Clifton, N.J. location came over to inspect/indentify the problem and, even though he didn't have to, he "Magyvered" an alternate draining system making the water go where it was supposed to go. The other pump seemingly dead was brought back to life by Victor. He went above and beyond the call of duty spending almost two hours troubleshooting the problem in a highly professional manner. I had called Vulcan back in November and schedule a no cost estimate with their regional manager Mike Schnell. Everything seemed fine. He explained we had to wait until the weather got warmer to do the job since they had to dig down outside my home to access the problem. In order to secure my start date of 4/28, I had to sign a contract and give Mike a $1200 deposit. Closer to the start date I knew something felt wrong. I never heard from Mike so I decided to call the main office to confirm my start date. They were unaware of it and immediately tried to give me a new date and pushed my back on their list i stead of making me first in line because of Mike's scheduling error. This is the worst company anyone can hire. They came to install a "French Drain" in our finished basement and although they said they would remove one tile around the perimeter of the basement, they just broke tiles left and right just to install the drain. This caused us to have to pay our tile guy extra to straighten out the tiles and then install new tiles. The worst of all is that their subcontractors installed the pump to a trap that was closed with cement from the previous owner. This of course , we found out after Vulcan finished their work. It has been a nightmare and still the pump can't work since it's not installed to the main sewer .We still have to break the tiles again and bring another company to correct the problem. We paid thousands of dollars this Spring for Vulcan to waterproof our basement, but we still are getting water after a substantial rain. They have been telling us since August that they would call us back with a date to fix their work, but they never call. I've spent a year dealing with Vulcan. They installed a pump a year ago and water continues to come in my basement. They tried to blame us for it because we we finished tiling the basement after they installed the pump. Are you not supposed to have a finished basement when you install a sump pump? We had to rip up the tiles again for them to do more work and they refused to compensate me for the tile work. They ignored all our calls about it. Water still comes in. The pump spits out the water and the water falls back in to the basement. Then they say we need to seal around the house (that was months ago and they have not come back to do it). They also cut a hole in my basement wall and said the problem is the foundation is wet and the original salesperson should have seen that. And of course more money to dig up the driveway and pour concrete around the foundation and that should now fix the problem. There is no way I am giving these people one more penny of my money. If that is really the problem I will hire someone else. Now I'm listening to to my husband vacuum 2 inches of water after last night's rain because the pump didn't turn on. Called them this morning and was told - as always - someone will call us back. They don't live up to 100% guaranteed. The work was not done properly and they come back with "oh you need to do something else now" so they can get more money. I'm editing this review to say the Deon the service tech has been here twice in the week trying to help us. He even came when he wasn't supposed to be working. Please always consider consumer affair reports. This company is not responsive and doesn't stand by their work. Our initial contract, at thousands of dollars, included the installation of a French drain and a laminate finish on the walls to deter water from seeping into the basement. They installed a French drain, but were unable to install the Xypex on account of peeling walls. Of course the sales team didn't know better. The field team made this decision and promised to return shortly (with a week or so) to complete the job with a scrape and sealant. This, of course, never happened. Despite the fact that we call weekly, and that a year has gone by with little effort or concern on their part, we constantly hear over the phone that someone will reach out, will call back, and will complete the job in the next month. No one ever calls back to schedule any work. Clearly, this company is after your money and doesn't care to satisfy the client, to make things right, or to fulfill obligations. The basement still is muggy, still has water pooling when it rains, looks very unfinished, and they left our sewer drain clogged with debris. Steer clear! 11 months of frustration. Vulcan came by last summer to address water in our basement. The salesman was either not trained properly, or was just trying to make a sale, because he claimed that another company that came in and gave us a quote was going to do unnecessary work. He offered to do the job for about half of what the other company quoted. Turns out, we still got water in our basement. Either Vulcan improperly trained their sales person or they hired a snake oil salesman who knew he could sell us on a cheaper job. $6000 later, with a ruined carpet and days taken off of work, they will not make this error right. I can't even get a manager to call back. Do NOT use this business. They will charge you for every little thing and you cannot rely on them if something goes wrong. read more

Shady crooks - don't trust. I found a small amount of water on the floor in my unfinished basement, and having grown up in a house that frequently flooded, I wanted to nip any potential problems in the bud. Vulcan sent their salesman, Mike Schnell, to assess what was going on, and he determined that water was coming up through the floor and that I needed a french drain system. Total: $5,500. There was a lot of confusion with the scheduling. Vulcan kept calling to change the date and then someone else from Vulcan would call to say a different date, and I only found out 4:30 pm the day before they were coming that they were actually coming. Not fun to try and take off work that last minute, and to clear out the space in the basement where they needed to work. A few months after the system was installed, I found the same water spot in the same location. I called Vulcan to report the problem, and the first two times I called, they blew me off, "that's nothing." The third time I called, they said they would send Mike Davis out to investigate. At 7 am the morning Mike was to come out he cancelled, and it took another month to get him (or anyone) to come over. Mike looked around, investigated, and basically said the original cause of the water was just general condensation, the same as anyone would have in an unfinished basement, and a $150 dehumidifier would have done the job. Per Mike Davis's instructions, I tried via email and phone to follow up with Mike Solomon (why is everyone named Mike???), the supervisor to see what could be done to rectify the face that Vulcan sold me this very expensive system I didn't need. For months, Mike Solomon never got in touch with me. I called everyone at Vulcan I could get a hold of and was eventually sent to Victor Sa, who was supposed to be able to do something/anything. Victor strung me along for a little bit, then started dodging my calls. read more

They will not look for the leak, but they will waterproof the section of the basement that had the water. Writing from Connecticut. They're very responsive through the sales process...after that, not so good. I'd like to give them a better review for installing a perimeter drain, being neat and finishing promptly. But trying to get them to come out to fix a poorly-filled in sump pump took four weeks of trying to get a return call. The other part of our deal was getting a dehumidifier. It would've been good to know ahead of time that their installation consisted of carrying in the unit and setting it on the floor. Plus, according to the specs, the unit is big enough to do the entire house, so it's too large a unit for the basement so we've got a lot of hot air blowing out of the exhaust into the room. Been three weeks that we're waiting to hear back as to why they recommended this unit. Wish my credit card would've taken this long to go through. read more

Prior the basement waterproof installation, I did not have water leaking around my egress window. Now after the waterproof installation, the basement wall near the egress window is wet and a small puddle of water by the sump pump. Called in and send a picture to customer service representative. They said they will schedule a visit for someone to check it out. Waited couple of days (had to nag the customer rep for a reply) and their manager called. He gave attitude saying "oh you need to install a dehumidifier probably or w/e and does not think it's an issue. Well, it was not happening before so how it's not an issue? He said he will schedule a visit "next week" but they never confirmed a date and time. These guys are terrible and I'm not the type of person to write a review. They are so quick to schedule an install date and take your money but when you have a problem, I guarantee you can't rely on these guys. You will read other reviews of similar experiences. I got a french drain put into my basement a few years ago by them. It was done over 2 weekdays. On the first day, about 5 guys showed up to do some demo work, so that a shallow channel could be created in the concrete floor along the walls of my basement. They arrived at 8:30, but didn't start work until about 9:30. They took a short break after an hour. They took a one hour lunch break about 12 and resumed at 1:00. Then they started leaving at 1:45. I asked why they were leaving so early, and the leader said that jackhammering is hard work, and I shouldn't expect their guy to do too much! Why couldn't one of the other 4 guys do some of it?? He said they'd be back tomorrow, since they were nearly finished. The next day they arrive around 9:00 and finish in a couple of hours. Which means they could have finished the day before and not made me take an extra day off from work! Obviously, I wasn't too happy, but I paid them without complaint. But the five guys were lined up outside and when I made the payment, a couple of them said out loud, "What, no tip?" Wow, really??? read more

The work was done in a very timely fashion and the Crew was friendly and cooperative. They did not cover the surrounding area very well so there was a lot of grit and dust to clean up. Also one of the two Sump Pumps was not connected but we were fortunate that the Electrician we used set the leveler in the proper position and connected the Pump for us. Vulcan did waterproofing and laid a stone floor for me in April 2016. Would have given them a good review, but try getting them to return your calls when you have a problem. Apparently, they do not stand behind their work. One guy I got on the phone told me the business was sold since then and it would be a $200 service call which I did not balk at. I had a crack on my basement floor and I had one sump pump for years. I finally decided to have "Vulcan basement waterproofing" complete the job. When they broke the concrete floor around the perimeter they installed a black corrugated drain pipe.They also installed two pumps. This made everything worse water was flowing in all the time the pumps would run and stop all day long. I went through over 10 years of HELL with pumps failing, flooding basement, fire in the electrical panel because at times the pumps wouldn't stop running. Its is way to much to list. I sued and got my money back which was under $5,000. I finally found someone that worked for the ARMY corp of engineers, because I need to control this water problem and what he found is that Vulcan broke the footing to my foundation when they cut up the floor to put the drain pipe in. My foundation has been compromised by these unqualified morons, that is one of the reasons so much water is coming into my basement.To repair what Vulcan destroyed through their negligence is going to cost me nearly $90,000. I'm now in the process of having my basement made truly WATERPROOF NO PUMPS. If a contractor or an engineer tells you, you can't stop water without a french drain system they are wrong. AFTER VULCAN RUINED MY BASEMENT, I researched this problem and met with many other waterproofing companies and even a few engineers before I finally found the right one. Remember qualified engineers and masons build dams and tunnels that are waterproof and hold back a lot of hydro static pressure. If you lose power, your basement may still flood with french drain systems. Even the backup battery systems will only last a few hours at most,so you still have to hook up a generator to them. Their estimate came in the lowest - so I went with them. Long story short - I was literally robbed. They carried 5 gallon buckets in and out of the basement - and as time went on I noticed little things were missing and keep discovering things gone..my sons wireless speaker and other small tools. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt but they are the only people that were down there - and it's items I don't use daily so it was not obvious at first. They left a mess of small stones they never picked up in the basement and a concrete mess thats still on the road in front of the house. We had our French drain installed 2 years ago and have not had water in our basement since. Our neighborhood always has water and we pump in the spring after the snow melts and rains come but have not had any water flood the basement! The work was done in a day and half. From what I remember the crew arrived on time and worked quickly digging the channel and installing the piping and sump pump. My only complaint is the crew leader was reluctant to make a decision on the pump installation. The salesman initially said we'd have 2 pumps installed but the crew lead said that meant they would have to be stacked. our water table is so high there was no need to stack it. So after 10 mins of back and forth and asking him to give me his opinion as the EXPERT I finally decided to just install the one pump and keep the 2nd as a back up. One other thing - I noticed after the drain is installed the basement is noticeably colder because they hammer through the foundation. I would be nice if they let you know this and provide some tips on addressing it...maybe it's possible to put some kind of insulating material over the drainage rocks. But overall I'm very satisfied with the work and the results. read more
