At the Silverdale location, they've done away with the little mobile truck that would appear during summer months in the waterfront parking lot and now have a permanent booth down the pier. They only offer sit on top style kayaks (and stand up paddleboards) at this location, likely to cater to a more user and family friendly experience. If you've never been kayaking sit on tops are super stable, easy to get in and out of and don't have that feeling of confinement. The downside is you're almost guaranteed to get wet while paddling. In years past they offered recreational style sit inside kayaks at this location (closed tops with adjustable pedals etc.) which is what I was expecting when we arrived and when I asked it sounds like these might still be available in Poulsbo if that's more your jam. First come, first serve, the gals at the booth were super friendly and helpful and they are happy to store your wallet or small bag behind the counter for you. The nice part about the permanent booth is you no longer have to drag your kayak down the beach to the water, it's tied right there at the pier. Reasonable prices for not having to store, load or haul a kayak of your own from home. They also offer a discounted rate for 'military days' similar to a family night or matinee pricing. I didn't see this specifically advertised on the website just posted on the booth so it might be worth a quick walk down the pier to check their current specials. We snagged the $5 off yelp deal and enjoyed a beautiful morning on the water and Olympic Outdoor Center could not have made our experience any easier!

I'm so glad I found No Worries and Captain Lorenzo. We really lucked out! Captain Lorenzo met us down in Port Orchard early in the morning. He was on time (or early, either way, he was there before us!) and had the boat ready to go when we arrived at the launch. He even met me at my car to help us unload our bags and show us the best parking spot. My parents and I brought snacks but No Worries Fishing Charters provided everything else - the license, the bait and tackle, even bottled drinking water. Captain Lorenzo and his first mate Noah helped us onto the boat and were patient as my mom climbed on with her bum knee. This small boat is ideal for 3-4 passengers plus two crew and a very personalized trip. This is not like some charters or party boats where there are hundreds of passengers. As we sailed out through Agate Pass, Captain Lorenzo pointed out some sites and explained what we were seeing. My parents loved getting a little tour of the area! Not to give away our super-secret fishing spot, but we ended up fishing near the Kingston area. Later, throughout the day we learned more about Captain as he kept us entertained and informed, telling us about how he grew up and spent his whole career on all different types of boats. My dad said that some fishing charter captains sit back and read a newspaper like "I got you here, you do the fishing." Not No Worries! Captain Lorenzo and Noah kept busy the whole time - reading the fish finder, checking the lines, cutting bait. They were working hard to make sure we had the best fishing experience. One cool thing is that you could definitely get as involved or take it easy however you want. For example, my dad had a lot of questions - what lure are you using, how does the downrigger work, what do you usually catch, how long have you been doing this... my mom was pretty happy to sit in the boat and wait for the Captain to say, "Looks like we got something! Do you want to come reel one in?" I thought it was awesome that Lorenzo and Noah catered to both - answering my dad's questions and matching his enthusiasm, and keeping my mom involved. We didn't catch a whole lot of keepers (I caught the biggest silver or coho, of course, not that it's a competition...) but we saw action all day and had a great day out on the water. Truly, the father-daughter bonding time is the highlight, right? Well, that and the salmon dinner. At the end of the fishing day, Captain cleaned and fileted our catch and bagged it for us, ready for our cooler and, later, our grill! It was nice that we didn't have to get our hands too dirty. Overall we had a great day and I would definitely recommend No Worries Fishing Charter to anyone looking to get on the water. My whole family was truly impressed! Thank you Captain Lorenzo for making our day so memorable!

My husband and I just completed a wonderful day of Lingcod fishing with 'No Worries Fishing…read moreCharters'. It wasn't a successful fishing day for any of the boats in our area (Blake Island) but it wasn't for a lack of trying. We did catch plenty of rock cod which I still found exciting. We have booked private charters before, and both my husband and I were very impressed with how organized and committed our guide was. I was not great at keeping from snagging my line on the bottom and losing lures, but there was always a back up rod prepared and ready for the water while my previous rod was having a new lure tied on to it. The boat was clean and well organized, and I was relieved to learn there is a private toilet area in the front. Our kind guide was generous with his time offering to continue fishing after our six hour session was up because he genuinely felt bad that the fish weren't biting today. We are grateful to have made contact with this charter and will give it another try when salmon season begins.

Everything went perfect because the hosts are so organized and thorough in their communications. We did the all day sail including a very tasty lunch about which the host consulted with me in advance. You don't need to bring a thing but your personal items as they have beverages, wraps if it gets chilly or anything you might need. Four of the six of us are 80+ and we were able to manage fine maneuvering on, off and around the boat including using the "head". Each experience depends on the tides, wind, currents, weather and other boat traffic, which makes each day unique and they explain about how these relate to the sea life you see and your itinerary. Because we had a beautiful sunny day Mt Rainier was present during much of the cruise giving us spectacular photo ops. I can't recommend Hobbes sailing highly enough....

While driving along the Hood Canal and passing through the Olympic National Forest's eastern…read morepanhandle, give your legs a stretch and take advantage of rejuvenating views. Falls View is a campground, however, it also offers a waterfall that cascades into the Big Quilcene River. Unlike many other places in the park, entrance is free. Since this is also a campsite there is a fee of $10 if you choose to stay the night. This is a second-growth forest canyon among spring blooming rhododendrons, lilies, and honeysuckle. Two short trails for the price of one: -Fallsview Loop Trail: This is a short jaunt for all ages interested in beautiful views. It loops back around to the start of the trail. The distance is only 0.1 miles and elevation is 440 feet. I highly recommend it for a photo opportunity! -Fallsview Canyon Trail: This trail takes you from the Falls View down to the floor of the canyon. Unfortunately, the trail does not bring you to the base of the falls to bathe or get a view from below. Instead, you're greeted with the bustling Big Quilcene River which has carved the canyon over hundreds of years. The trail quickly dips 200 feet of elevation in 0.1 mile. Keep in mind that grades are up to 10-20% in some spots and what you go down, you must come up. After 0.5 miles, there is a deceptive separate trail that splits leftward, but it's the end/beginning of the same trail which loops back around. The entire trail is 1.5 miles and in very good condition and maintained by the Mount Rose Trail Crew. Directions: From Quilcene, WA, travel 3.5 miles south on U.S. Highway 101. Falls View Campground is located on west side of U.S. Highway 101. If it is during the winter, you can park outside the gate and walk in (refer to image). Take a quick left and continue forward past the campground and picnic area. Fallsview Canyon Trail starts left of the parking area and goes downhill to the river. Fallsview Loop Trail's entrance is just to the right of that.
