We had some time to burn so came to check out Scenic Beach State Park. It was not too crowded on an early Friday morning, so parking was abundant. We wandered around the day use area and down by the water. The view is spectacular! Surrounded by tall trees and forest it really feels like you are far from everything and is very serene. The restrooms were clean as was the park itself. There are plenty of picnic tables and a well-appointed playground for the littles.

My complaint is the public restroom at the entrance of the dock. The lock of the door doesn't work and tben there is NO door to the stall and there is NO seat to the toilet. Not sure how you're supposed to go #2 when there is no door to use the toilet and the main lock to the restroom doesn't work?! Had to have my gf stand and wait outside to guard the door. I don't understand how you build a restroom with no door to give yourself some privacy when using the toilet?! Anybody can walk in and see you! WTH!?!

It's clean, well maintained and has a very nice community vibe. We've been seeing many other marinas now that we are motoring around the sound and I haven't seen a nicer one! Although I had a fantastic time, I was hesitant to give 5 stars because the staff were very friendly, however didn't make me feel particularly safe. I've spent some time as a hiking guide up in Denali Alaska, so I suppose I may be a bit biased, but when I choose to go out on a trip with a guide, it's because I would like for them to share expertise and keep me safe; both of which fell a bit short for me on this particular trip. I also recognize it was very early in the season, so some of the staff were training and brand new. However, the whole experience felt a bit unorganized, honestly, and like we were just being rushed in and out. Luckily I am a decently experienced kayaker and it's so hard to have a horrible time out on the water with gorgeous weather and good company!
