Food: Ordered a burger and mac n cheese, burger was good but mac b cheese was not that great.. My friends ordered a latte, a brownie (she was given the salted caramel cake instead, discusting and when she told them they proceeded to be rude about it and do nothing) and my other friend got some kind of cake, discusting and seemed to be 3 weeks old.. Everything was left almost untouched except the burger. The place itself was not what we expected, very small and uncomftable.. The "staff", a rude and over her life looking girl in her late 20's and her very out of place looking girlfriend, both very unprofessional and rude. Everything was really cramped and messy, we really wanted to run away the moment we stepped into the store but we didnt because we traveled an hour to get there! Very cool little shop with vegan groceries and some vegan merch. They have a lot of cool buttons, cups, shirts and totebags with funny prints. All are vegan-themed. I would recommend every vegan to drop by this cute shop when you are in London. They have also some snacks behind the desk, which I didn't taste when I were there. I travelled​ across London to this restaurant on our recent trip to and was appalled by the level of service we received. The person taking our order told us we could not order a vegan kebab without lettuce. At first, we were confused, believing he didn't hear us but soon found out how arrogant he was. We later found out he is one of the owners (Rudy). Perfect name because he is incredibly rude. He then began to tell us we HAD to order it with lettuce because it would look "flat" without it. I'm sorry, but if lettuce is what is holding your dish together, you have bigger problems. Also, he tried to tell us, ALL kebabs come with lettuce. Well, I can tell you that is not the case and has never been a problem in 20 years of eating kebabs across Britain. Plus, he had a chocolate eclair in his fridge with jam and sprinkles! Or the irony, when was the last time chocolate eclairs came like that? It is almost like he changed from traditional, huh?! But it got worse, he then decided to tell ask if we were allergic to lettuce and how we should just order mac and cheese instead. You know, the mac and cheese without real cheese, again, the irony lost on him. Maybe, people do not want to discuss medical conditions with strangers in public? This is not a Michelin star restaurant, where all ingredients are needed to make the dish, its a kebab! People should not be accosted for trying to order their food and for that, I give the lowest stars possible. As a vegan it pains me to be so negative about a vegan eatery, but I've visited here several times, but can't justify giving this place my time or money any more. The service, as people have mentioned in the past is ridiculously cold and unfriendly. Like you're doing them a favor by eating there. I've popped in twice in the past few weeks since it's quite close to my office, and both times was treated as if I were some sort of hindrance. On my most recent visit, I dined in for the first time and though I approached with smile and a hello, was summarily ignored by staff with not even a look in my direction until for whatever reason he finally deemed me worth his time. When I finally received my order, it was practically tossed across the table at me. Not long after, I witnessed the same staff member ignore another customer who walked in, looked at the menu, and tried to get his attention. Rightly so, the man walked right out. Then, a young woman came in, greeted the staff member with a bright hello, and he gave zero response or acknowledgement. Totally bizarre behaviour, but typical of everytime I've visited Vx. There was another staff member downstairs who seemed a more cheeful, so it was a shame he wasn't working upstairs. In regards to the food, the fridge/freezer selection is pretty meager and most of it isn't hard to find elsewhere. The hot food is not anything to write home about - the majority of it seems to be microwaved anyway so I have zero idea why it seems to take ages to be served. Also no idea why they thought it was a good idea to put a huge, unwieldy picnic table inside, which makes the already tiny store even more awkward to navigate. read more

VX has vegan products you're 1) not going to find anywhere else in London (or even the UK) and 2) you won't find the range that it supplies. It's smaller than you think it would be, but it packs a punch! Imported goods, a refrigerator of "meats" and "cheeses", clothing and accessories and don't forget the hot deli counter! A small selection of changing daily paninis, not dogs, etc. There is also a bakery case of pastries and cakes made from different London vegan companies. I would love to see them in a bigger space like an actual grocery store one day. The vibe is a bit skate shop/tattoo shop/ hardcore, which I think can be off putting for some people. Don't be scared of the staff either They're happy to chat with you and crack jokes! If you are visiting London, this should definitely be on your vegan/vegetarian pilgrimage list! read more

This spot has been on my list FOREVER, but I needed a little nudge to get there. Now Kings Cross is so trendy, it's hard to stay away... Calling it a supermarket is a little confusing, as it's a tiny store, but they do have a wide variety of items. I loved the food counter which had vegan junk food galore. I wanted to try the pizza but they weren't serving it that day, sadly, so I had a doner(!) kebab. I loved how tasty this was and how the crisp veggies complemented the mock meat. I even ended up buying some Soya 'steaks' to take home... (The ice cream I had after was a little disappointing - grainy, and felt more like a practical use of leftover muffins, than a real treat ;) Still, I'll for sure return to try the rest of the menu! read more

Great little vegan shop near Kings Cross. Vegan grocery items, baked goods, clothes, accessories, and made to order food! Several specialty vegan items that are difficult to find anywhere else. I highly recommend the wagon wheels and eclair! Delicious. I also bought a few coconut milk coffees from here which were really nice. American Express accepted. This shop only loses one star because of the service. Punk German girl with green hair was obnoxiously rude. I was really friendly and patient, and she acted like me being there was bothering her. I even told her to "have a nice day!" as I left, and she replied "I probably won't." Chill, lady! read more

A toasted sandwich or a slice of decadent cake? Yep, Vx. Need meat substitutes, egg replacer, vegan ice cream, cookies, chocolate, pastries filled with vegan cream, t-shirts, shoes, wallets, stickers or lip balm? Vx. Speaking purely of my ubereats experience: not great. Ordered cheeseburger (average), fish wrap (disappointing - if you want a great fake fish experience, try Battered's fish bap), fries (soggy but I guess that's expected with a delivery), donut (standard) and Mac and cheese (had an odd smell and flavorless - for a great mac and cheese, see Young Vegans or Temple of Seitan). Everything was quite expensive for quality that was below a cheap takeout joint. Won't be visiting or returning unfortunately. read more

I have to admit I haven't been to a lot of exclusively vegan shops in London, but I have done some research and Vegan Boutique has at least, pretty fair prices. Find vegan clothing, hot food and baked goods (yummy) and lots of fake meat and vegan fake cheese. Bought a few things and even though it is not cheap, I was more than happy considering the size and what I got. High five to you guys for having gluten (so you can make your own seitan!!!) Will definitely come back for more things and probably try some of their baked goodies :) read more

I have to say that I'm surprised by the reviews saying that the staff are unfriendly because I found them to be extremely friendly and helpful. They also had a nice selection of goods - I bought some tasty sausages, sandwich fillers, Vego (amazing hazelnut chocolate!), and some Will's brogue boots. I like what this is trying to be-- a lot, I really really do! But their baked goods always leave me thinking, "I can make this, and I can make it BETTER." Why do vegan bakers in this country not know how to make decent, moist and flavourful desserts? Yes, I'm vegan. I bake, and what I make doesn't taste, feel or look any different from non-vegan desserts. Even with that said, this shop is still OBSESSED with sweets. I don't mean that in a good way. I think it's great to have a shop like this, but there's something about it that almost seems really clique-y and exclusive. I can't explain it, but even as a vegan, I sort of feel like it doesn't reach out to people beyond the vegan community, and that makes me really uncomfortable. I don't want to be a part of a "secret society" that excludes people who might be open to trying it. I would suggest that they carry more things that are hard to find here. Like more eco-friendly, vegan clothing, gloves, winter boots/clothing - things that people NEED TO try on or look at to buy. Toiletries, cosmetics, etc. But they do make some mean hot drinks! As a vegan I was really excited to hear about this vegan larder/cafe near Kings Cross (note: the move from Camden). The place is divided into to two: an upstairs shop, where you can buy anything from veggie sausages, books, shoes, or even vegan dog food; and a downstairs cafe. Sounds great huh? But the problem is that the upstairs has a insanely limited selection of everything. The food stuff you can buy you can buy at countless foodstores across London (tofu is not hard to source in this fair city!). The other selections, whether they be books or shoes or t-shirts or whatever are also so limited to be almost useless (the only item I thought might be useful was the vegan dogfood). The "cafe" downstairs is a joke. It's a smallish carpeted room. The tea, was a tea bag in a disposable cup (what's with vegans not being environmentalists and environmentalists not being vegan anyway??) and just not that nice. The vegan cake a little stale. The cafe and foodstore were both too expensive. Bottom-line: A good vegan cafe/store would do really well in London. This isn't the place unfortunately. read more

Place is very small and slightly dirty. We tried fries with cheese and mac-n-cheese and the last one was completely tasteless. Only boiled macaroni and nothing else. Not even a pinch of salt. as i walked into this cute lil shop with a freshly purchased brick of cheese and big slab of salami stinking up the pure vegan air, i felt compelled to blurt out that i wasn't a vegan and i asked the man behind the counter (who i think said he was the owner?) if it was okay if i shopped around anyways. luckily he said yes and didn't mind my offensive meat/cheese smell, which i tried to subtly stuff into my purse.. nice guy or savvy business man, i liked him either way for allowing me to stay i didn't buy much here, but what i did buy was actually amazing. the chocolate vegan ice cream was so rich and creamy and has changed my friend (who can't eat milk without getting the shits) life for the better. she keeps asking me to come back and get her more because she's obsessed already. also the fererro cupcake was fingaaa licking good. the cake was a little dry, but the icing was soooo fucking tasty, all was forgiven. as a non-vegan, i truly appreciate this place. imagine if i was a vegan? i'd be even more obsessed! read more

I wouldn't even recommend this place to strict vegan's with Celiac disease. The soy latte was nothing compared to other cafes and the eclair was made with a hot dog bun instead of an actual pastry. Almost all of the vegan and gluten free grocery offerings can commonly be found elsewhere in non-specialty stores. read more

Smaller than I anticipated but they still had a decent selection of vegan items. Wish I lived nearby, it sure would make getting vegan cat food easier! We came here right after getting off our plane and putting our stuff in our Air BnB because we were starving. We had the Doner Kebab and the steak wrap (can't remember the exact name). Both were delicious and filling. They have a good selection of shoes (which I wish I would have gotten the ones I liked, because I couldn't find them anywhere else) as well as a couple clothing items. We made a detour in the pouring rain just to pay a visit to Vx and sample some of their hot food which we've been assured is ok. We arrived at 6:01pm and there were 2 people infront of us who arrived 2 minutes before (note: this time is important). They were served and when our turn came, we requested hot food, we were rudely told by the female staff member, "I am not making hot food now" she then went on to say that they stop making hot food at six. We asked if there was anything else that could be done, she agreed to make some toasties for us, which, to our slight disappointment tasted like vegan leather. While she was "making" the toasties (with ample help from a pleasant male colleague) she proceeded to complain to him (very loudly) about how the previous customers joined the queue at 1 minute before six, SHIT (her words not ours) she had to make some food for them. All in all a disappointing experience, and we shall not return. read more

Months of following the FB page and waiting for a chance to visit this place, 90 minutes on a coach, and a one-hour walk later, I arrived to find working here what must have been London's two unhappiest people. They glared at me when I walked in, and both of the questions I asked about the menu/items on display were met with stony 'FFS do you really need that information?' looks. The vegan pesto looked good, but it didn't have a price on it and I wasn't about to ask any more questions. I grabbed a few items so that I could justify the trip and hit the door as soon as I could. Most of what they have can be found elsewhere without the attitude, and what I can't get elsewhere I'd rather just be without. Unfortunate! read more
