In July I hired W&L Landscaping, Wilfredo and Lauren Mendez are the owners, to remove a tree and stump. In the end, they did remove the tree, stump and debris as stated in the estimate. We said not to touch our neighbor's tree because it provided shade in our backyard. Because they rushed the job, they were careless. They cut some of the branches of my neighbor's tree making it look asymmetrical now. They are two different trees so you can't mistake one for the other. They broke a trellis, a water feature and cracked several slate slabs because they carelessly dropped chunks of the tree trunk instead of lowering them carefully. The workers were thoughtlessly stepping on plants, putting tools on top of plants. I had to mention the damage to Lauren the owner. Her business partner Wilfredo said nothing to me that damage was done as if it was acceptable to break things in the process. I was beginning to be sorry I hired them at this point because they still had to remove the stump. They were scheduled to come the next day. My wife was waiting in the 90-degree heat outside to save a parking space for their truck and equipment when they arrived. They didn't show. I received no call or text. I called and they cancelled because they were running late with another job. They came the next day to finish the stump and bring the replacement items that they damaged which was a clay pot which was part of the water feature and the slate that was damaged. I was at work and my wife in good faith paid them in full because they said they replaced the slate tiles. When I came home from work, I saw that they brought the wrong tiles and the wrong size and just took tiles from where the tree was removed and replaced the broken ones with them and still there were broken tiles. Nothing was replaced. I decided to let the trellis and water feature go because they weren't serious about fixing this and I wanted these people out of my life. I noticed a couple of days later on my neighbor's tree that there was a tree limb dangerously hanging by a thread and was about to fall. I brought it to W&L's attention being that they caused it. W&L said it was pre-existing damage which was baloney because the break in the tree limb was fresh looking. The limb fell a few days later. If you look on their website, there are two phone numbers, only one works, and it is Lauren's direct cell phone number. There is no official business number. I was going to let this whole thing go, but I don't want other people to go through this. I understand it was a very hot week, and it is very hard work, but it's the owners that are solely responsible for overseeing the work that is being done. I had a great experience with this company. I was given my estimate promptly to take down a very tall, 70-year-old pine tree. It broke my heart to cut it down, but they explained why it needed to be done. It was completely removed in a matter of hours. The partner I worked with is knowledgeable and wise. Her crew also trimmed my neighbor's tree the same day and transplanted some large potted plants that had been waiting a few years for this to happen. As a tenant at Philip B.s residence, I can confirm his review. However I would give them 0 stars. After a neighbor shared a similar need to remove their tree ( which also attracted lantern flies) I found out that their landscapers charged HALF as much for the same job. And unlike W&L, they did not leave massive damage in their wake. Do NOT hire them unless you want a shoddy job at twice the price! Once again, ZERO stars. read more

Only complaint is that they didn't keep with the promised schedule.. But once on site they were quick and efficient..

Hired W&L to do my pavers in my back yard last year and ask them to use the extra dirt to fill low spots in the yard. With all the rain over the winter, came to find out that the dug a hole and fill the extra cement and cover it with dirt and now its exposed. it is so big that i cant dig it out and now have to rent a jack hammer to brake it out. paid over 14k and and this is what you get. These guys did a great job trimming and shaping all my shrubs and bushes in the front yard. They cleaned all beds and applied mulch the house looks great. Thank you for a quick response and a reasonable price will definitely use them in the future for additional projects. read more
