Very windy here, so it is still cold even though we are in 73 degree weather. Valet only Spacious lobby and seating area. When we checked in, we were greeted with a very warm sweet gal. Thanked us for being a Marriott Bonvoy gold members. Since we book via Amex travel hotel collection, our room automatically upgraded, daily breakfast for 2 $40 per person, $100 credit to use for anything in the property, early check in, guarantee 4pm check out and complimentary wi-fu. And we got complimentary cocktails. On top of that, we got complimentary sparking water and 2 jars of snacks for being Marriott Bonvoy gold member. Awesome. Note: your room has complimentary bottle waters everyday, if you need more, ask concierge downstairs or your room service. Room: Very specious bedroom and bathroom. Has nespresso coffee machine, tea. Fridge and other stuff. Very odd closets in the corner, basically you need to close one closet in order to open the other one. Has iron, iron board. Has balcony with view. The w beach bag for purchase only. Hotel: 2 restaurants: the chow, Chinese restaurant, and the grove for your breakfast, lunch and dinner. Theres spa, gym, courts Scan and download their w south beach app available at the concierge as you check in to see their daily activities. There's bicycles for hotel guests to use. You can ride or walk along every where via path way . The hotel is looks nice but some doors, locks and some fixtures are damaged and broken, it looks run down. The W hotel in south beach tried to rob us. We upgraded rooms to a bigger suite a few days ago. We agreed to the price, I signed the paperwork. Thought that was that. This morning, I received a signed copy of the folio before checking out. I never signed that. Went downstairs to the front desk to look over the charges and the price we agreed on was whited out with a new number on top. Then the folio that was sent to me was forged. The hotel was hoping I didn't catch it. When I confronted them they denied it and then acted like they did me a favor by charging me the price we agreed on. I am appalled that a high end hotel like the W tried to rob us- both by changing the price and by forging my signature. If you are thinking of staying at this hotel, think again. Moreover, the upgraded two bedroom suite we stayed in was so noisy with the traffic of Collins that staying in Mid town Manhattan is quieter. Never mind that there was also a beach view- it didn't not feel serene or quiet like staying by the beach. They also didn't have sunscreen by the beach or pool, the way most other hotels have. Bottom line is if you want to get robbed, stay at the W hotel. read more

After a long drive from Tampa to South Beach we were ready to enjoy a nice stay with a beautiful view. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff and assisted us to our room after an easy check-in. The room was smaller than expected for the rate, but the view and amenities made up for the size. Conveniently located near the beach and other fantastic eateries, especially the Ocean Grill at the Setai (gorgeous and highly recommended) restaurant. Also a short walk near Park Ave which has other amazing eateries and including cafe and bistro's. The grounds are well maintained with upscale vibe and decor. The lobby bar is cozy with a sexy vibe. My wife experienced the spa which she said was fabulous. Pool has plenty of chairs with umbrellas and staff were courteous, friendly and attentive. It also has some benefits to be a Marriott Bonvoy member which gave us some minor perks with bonus points on spend, complimentary wi-fi, mobile check in along with some property credits which we used for the spa and happy hour at the bar. read more

Beautiful hotel, but we would not stay here again and don't recommend it. While the property itself is stunning, this hotel finds ways to nickel-and-dime guests on top of the already high room rate. The Good: -We booked the "Superior, Guest Room, 1 King, Ocean View, High Floor with Balcony", and the room was spacious and beautiful. -Comfortable bed with spectacular views from the 11th floor. -Nespresso coffee maker was a nice touch. -Strong water pressure and very clean fixtures (often not the case in Florida hotels). -Housekeeping was outstanding. -Minimal street noise at night. -The pool was clean, relaxing, and had excellent service--prompt and friendly staff. The Bad: -Unexpected daily fees: a $75 resort charge, $5.25 state tax, and $5.25 occupancy tax--adding up to $85.50 per day. -Valet parking was listed in the app as $50/day, but we were charged $65/day. When my husband questioned it, the valet staff gave a nonsensical explanation ("$50 is for guests of people staying here"), which felt dishonest. -Between fees and parking, that's $150.50 a day on top of the room rate. -Only one side of the bed had extra outlets. -Towels were stiff and scratchy. -The in-room phone randomly produced a dial tone 1-3 times a night for several seconds, which was disruptive. -The balcony doors were overly sensitive--the AC only worked if they were closed just right. -On our last day, the AC unit began making extremely loud noises. -The Grove (on-site restaurant) was mediocre and outrageously overpriced. With auto-gratuity (20%) and taxes, the cheapest breakfast for two was $82--and that was takeout I carried upstairs myself. Beautiful hotel, but between the surprise fees, inflated valet charges, and overpriced dining, it left a sour taste. Sadly, we cannot recommend staying here. read more

If your planing a stay in South Beach and want great views and awesome service then W South Beach is you place. From arrival to departure the staff was amazing. The hotel is beautiful inside and out. Upon arriving we were greeted by Joe the bellman which he assisted us with our luggage and was very knowledge about the area, such as restaurants at the hotel and around the area. He gave us great recommendations. At the front desk we were assisted by Maria who did a great job at checkin us in. Once arriving into the room you have a hallway which to the left is your bathroom and shower and right your closet area. Passing the hallway you'll have your bed and tv. Past the bed your lounging area with a sofa and two single seated sofa seats. Then the best part the patio area over seeing the beach and ocean. Fabulous views. We also experienced the pool area, super chill and mellow. Drinks are amazing and refreshing. Once you head to the beach you have staff assisting and arranging you where you can sit and enjoy the sun and warm water. The housekeeping team also did a fabulous job. We stepped out of the room and by the time we came back our room was serviced. Again if you want to have a great stay in South Beach I highly recommend the W. Nothing bad to say about this place. From the moment I walked in until the day i left, all staff were way above the normal service of any hotel I have visited. Yes, it's a bit pricey...but the service and ambiance was perfect for us. It is just north enough of south beach that is safe, yet still walking distance (just over a mile.). The first night we opted for using the complimentary hotel car and then realized it was walking distance. The bar was poppin with a band and drinks were decent. The breakfast is the only gripe. For the price of the rooms, and the prices on the menu...you'd think the food would be top notch. It wasn't. Overpriced, subpar, and staff did lack here. Chicken sausage was served to one person at my table, but the same sausage at buffet was labeled as pork. I pointed this out but server didn't seem interested. If I visit Miami Beach again, I'll likely try another hotel, but only because there's so many to choose from. But I would recommend in general. read more

Went on the beach for a beach day, beware they up charge like crazy and don't say anything about the extra charges. The waitresses are getting 20 percent gratuity on top automatically. STAY ELSEWHERE! My husband and I decided to return for another year for our baby moon. I really had my heart set on the 1Hotel next door which was better in price but since we knew exactly what to expect, we stayed here once again. This visit however, very VERY disappointing. For the price of the room per night you would expect service and hospitality to be on point. We have NEVER encountered any treatment like this on any of our travels. Not to mention we returned to the room each day hours after being at the pool/beach and the room was completely untouched. After the first day when we placed a call to make a complaint (it was 5pm when we returned to our room), we felt we were retaliated against for the remainder of the trip. Not to mention the lies that were said that a do not disturb sign was placed on the door when it was not. Also, housekeeper knocking on our door at 7pm at night multiple times and when we would answer they'd be down the hall. Completely disgusting treatment of Marriott members and returning guests who spent quite a pretty penny each visit. Complained to the higher ups and no call was returned, the director did nothing. Checked in here for the week for almost 10K, promised room wasn't delivered... had to change rooms multiple times... room had strange stains and smells... no promised view.. dark, low floor... nothing like photos... had to fight to get the room I was promised... room manager tells me verbatim "I'm worried you're not going to be comfortable here and you're welcome to find somewhere else to stay".............. this place is a sh*thole and management does not accommodate even when they make mistakes. I feel so bad for the cleaners, bellmen, greeters etc that work here and work so hard to make guests feel attended to: management is doing them a disservice with the condition of the rooms, reservation errors, and unwillingness and uncaring attitude to make things right when patrons have paid truly exorbitant prices to stay here. Very, very disappointed in my investment here due to poor management and poor customer service practices from the top down. First time I've spent this rate for a top tier hotel expecting white glove service and felt like I was at a dingy 2 star hotel. Insulting. read more

This was our first time staying at the W Hotel South Beach. What made the trip extremely enjoyable was the personalized service we had. From checking in with Marcello, to spending time at the Pool! We were fortunate to have Sun help us each day getting pool seats. She always remembered us and made every effort to place us where we asked. We decided to try something new this week in my hometown of Miami! South Beach is calling, and the W hotel is the new darling of the SoBe set! We saw the AmAzInG reviews and thought we'd give it a go. For comparison sake, we have been to the st regis, and ritz Carlton--all pretty swanky! Each has its perks, but they are at a comparable level. We did receive a personal call before our trip introducing our concierge and welcoming us. Nice touch! (We are titanium level) We arrived rather early in the day from wintry Connecticut with our Boston terrier Jeannie. We received a complimentary sangria (delish!) upon arrival. They accommodated us well and reserved a changing room to put on our swimsuits and enjoy the day in our rented pool cabana. The Cabana was so beautiful and though very pricy ($1200 weekend days?!) a nice experience. Sadly, unlike those competitors, nothing is included but water and great service with the exhorbitant cabana pricing. However, we did both receive a free smoothie each day. We were told we may get an upgrade, but did not. Hubby was disappointed, but really the rooms are spectacular! Gorgeous and modern with the perfect south beach view. It just gleams! We saw many lovely extras here- champagne to our room, lots of doggie goodies (toy, bed, bowls, treats!)...our Jeannie just loves it here! We also got a cute "hello kitty" themed chocolate goodies box and gourmet water bottles. What fun! The only curious thing I have found with all the W hotels is the weird lack of storage closet & drawer space. Functionality gives way to cool styling. Teeny tiny thin closet space and only two junior sized drawers in the whole huge room?? Really?! And a too exposed toilet area- hardly much of a door! Who designed this? No drawers in the bathroom either and hardly any shelving space! Very small circular nightstands with just one plug and NO storage shelves or drawers at all. You have to get creative here to not live out of your suitcase! I did, so we worked it out ok. I took one star off for that & the exhorbitant pricing for cabanas with zero included!? Service: yesterday I called down to ask for an extra pillow when they make up the room. They said yes, but never did it. Not a biggie, but I had to go down & ask again this morning. AND yesterday we came back to our room where we put out the make up sign, and it was never made up. He called down and we left for dinner. It was made up when we returned. On Saturday we went down to get our two included pool chairs. There's a waiting list of 20 people? Well...we were told we'd have better luck on the beach area. NOPE! We just sat in the couch areas outside. Finally after a couple of hours chillin, we give up & head to the pool bar. What?! There ARE chairs available??!! So we secure two. But No one called us!! We were hoping for a better pool/beach experience. Gotta get down earlier, I guess? Not sure how I feel about that. We either rent cabanas or wet/dry beds the rest of our stay. Today at the pool I rented a bed. I've asked three times for an umbrella and I see a few not used. They say yes each time, but still no umbrella!! Why??? Finally hubby complained and Santiago made good on it. Brought out Mark, too. He listened & understood well! He chatted us up amiably and made good. Gave us drinks AND comped something else special for the various issues. YES, well done. The communication is key! They made it all good!! So, we totally enjoyed ourselves and it will definitely be one of our top choice destination hotels when we stay in Miami. If you're looking for posh South Beach experience, this is it! read more

Absolutely huge and stunning, every corner is visually appealing, exquisitely clean, intriguingly modern, irresistibly swanky---you get the idea; every positive adjective you can think of belongs here. I have no words. Not a friendly place. Cold staff and patrons. Not one good experience except the beach access (and they made that an issue by allowing everyone to return back through the access w/o asking them for their room key, but as soon as my husband walked through he was asked to show that he was a guest...WTF) It was a weird experience. Every day my card was being authorized $250 for charges so my AMEX froze thinking it was fraud. My husband went down to see what was going on after we received the alert and he was told in front of other guests that he needs another card b/c his card was declined(embarrassing). No it was blocked b/c the same place kept making the same charge several times. Are you exhausted yet!!! Well imagine how we felt as titanium members of Marriott rewards I was embarrassed, saddened, and felt so small. If all of that wasn't enough....Then I was kicked out of my room the morning of my departure after asking for late check out four days prior. The reason was that we have lots of checkins and no rooms. My question was didn't you know this the day before? They did not care! So I had to quickly pack, cancel my non refundable tour, toss my $100 nasty breakfast, wake my husband, get dress, and then go wait at the airport for 5 hours. NEVER again! I do have to say that the Gen manager did do damage control after my review on their site a week later but the experience happened and I was was soooo mad that morning I was seeing RED. I was offered One day credit and VIP treatment when I returned (who wants to experience any of this again). I all of my years of travel national and internationally I have never in my life experienced what happened. Why on earth would I want to return? Would you? What a hotel. Here is some information about it. The W Hotel South Beach effectively symbolizes "international luxury." The property sits smack in the middle of town, and has some fancy Hello-Kitty-themed modern-art sculpture fountains outside, and seems to have Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and other luxury automobiles humming near the entrance at all hours.The Codependent Fountain Tableau featuring the familiar icons Hello Kitty, My Melody and Miffy, was Tom Sachs first monumental bronze works. He created the sculpture in 2007 for the Lever House installation of his Bronze Collection, on display in the Noguchi Gardens of Lever House in 2008. The items are on temporary loan for Art Basel. Working from original toys, Sachs and his assistants constructed enlarged versions of the popular children's characters using sheets of lightweight foamcore and glue guns, which are then cast in bronze, and ironically painted white to resemble the white foamcore surface. Overall was a great stay. This was one my favorite W properties in the world. Stayed for 4 days to celebrate my partners 30th bday...That being said we kept getting locked out of our room due to some sort of "technical error", by the time we check out I had 7 room keys. I found that to be a bit ridiculous, the day of our check out time which was extended to 2pm we required multiple visits to the front desk to get access to our room. One of the security guys named Charles I found to have a really poor attitude. Just about everyone I interacted with was very pleasant and helpful at the W South Beach, Charles however was not. After a few days in Key Biscayne, we decided to shift to where all the action is to the W in South Beach. We arrived an hour before check-in and although our room was not quite ready, front reception offered drinks and to go to the pool area while we waited. (She called us within 15 minutes, so it was hardly a wait.) Headed up to the room and all the rooms have a balcony; ours had an ocean view as well. As a little bonus, the ACLU was doing a fundraiser over the next couple days and we had a view of the stage from our balcony. Rooms are contemporary and hip. Large seating area in the room and balcony. Bath products are bliss and bathroom is spacious. Hotel has a happening pool scene and beach access, too. Music festival was going on the same weekend, so we had music industry types and professional athletes at the hotel. The hotel is in the heart of everything, so I was able to walk to everything. Also, hotel had bikes for rent so I was able to bike/walk the Miami Beach Boardwalk. Hotel location is perfect for a weekend of fun and staff is attentive. I highly recommend. read more

This property is much better than my last stay almost a decade ago. The rooms have been nicely remodeled and the staff is more friendly and efficient. Check in seemed a tad slow and not well-organized to me, but the desk agent was friendly. The bars by the pool and inside are fantastic. Great drinks and service. My pizza at the poolside bar was marvelous. I was disappointed, however, that the free breakfast option for Titanium Elite status was not more clearly explained to me. I thought the check in desk agent told me to just order off the in-room dining menu. Apparently, it applied only to the continental breakfast. I ended up being charged $53 for eggs, bacon, coffee, and juice. Yes, $53 for a bacon & eggs breakfast after delivery and service charges as well as taxes were piled on. Also, a charge for a phone call that I did not make got slipped onto my bill. I had never used the phone in the room. Plus, the time of the call was an hour after I had left the room to check out. The phone call charge was removed after I complained about it a second time, but I was not even given a credit for the value of the continental breakfast against the price of the bacon and eggs. The bottom line is that this property has improved since my previous visit but is very expensive and has plenty of room for improvement in customer service. read more

Stayed here for 5 nights with my husband and two kids for vacation. Upon arrival, we had high hopes. The check in staff and valet were very attentive and the lobby is very nice and updated. The pool is fab and the location and beach access were second to none. I travel quite a bit for leisure with my family as well as for work, and have stayed at many Ws around the world. We prepaid for a room with an ocean view and unfortunately received one with a partial view that mostly overlooked a parking lot. When I called downstairs, I was told they were fully booked, and unable to accommodate a change. No offers to make it right, but ok fine. We moved on. The rooms were fairly basic in comparison to other Ws I've stayed at. The hallway carpet is dingy and gross. There was a ton of construction and some of the amenities were affected (basketball courts and tennis). No one mentioned this at check in. They also didn't mention the almost $1,700 hold they'd be putting on our credit card for the duration of our stay (still sitting there unreversed). I am used to holds for incidentals but outside of Las Vegas, have never seen them to this extent and am wondering why it was necessary or kept under wraps. Our first night, we ate at the pool. We had tasteless guacamole and stale chips, split a pizza and salad and ordered the kiddos some Mac and cheese with fruit to share. Two glasses of wine. The service was abysmal. The bill was $300. This became a theme, so much so that we started to walk or drive off property to eat. Glad for the exercise, but not stoked for the inconvenience. Do not recommend ordering room service. It is not from any of the on site restaurants and is inedible. We tried twice. How do you fail to make a quesadilla or scrambled eggs? The first two nights of our stay during Swim Week, we were blasted out of our room by the loudest music I have ever heard, with two small children trying to sleep. Couldn't cover the noise with a sound machine - is was so loud you could feel it in your body. Well beyond 11pm, even with the noise ordinance. Again, no accommodation was made upon complaint due to being fully booked...thankfully the tent causing the noise was taken down on day 3. Our room was not cleaned two days in a row, despite me calling downstairs 3 times. While they did credit us $250 for the inconvenience and the head of housekeeping checked in on us, it was unacceptable and I'd have rather had the cleaning service. To request anything took FOREVER, so we ended up doing most things ourselves including trash takeout, carrying bags, deliveries, etc. We asked for 4 forks one evening to eat a takeaway dessert for my husband's birthday and after two hours and 3 knocks on our door from staff without forks, we went downstairs to get our own. All in all, this particular W Hotel in Southbeach is not up to the normal standards I'm accustomed to from W Hotels (there are many Ws that I'd highly recommend). The staff here was relatively disappointing, aside from the valets who were top notch consistently. The cost to service / quality ratio is completely unbalanced. I would recommend staying down the street at the Ritz instead. They have excellent service and will be getting my business going forward. read more

We don't care, because we are avid members of any cult here!) Okay, one might think we are biased because we already love it here. We are. But we still have our eyes wide open and have expressed our opinions on things that might have fallen short of our expectations and they listen and respond every time. The sheer expanse of the hotel, the lobby, the pool, the restaurants and bars is just mind blowing. Even when they are at capacity, they have a way of making us feel special. They take time to talk with us, get to know us, find out the things we like most and curate our stay with the utmost care and respect. This was our first visit back to South Beach in three years. There were several places we had been looking forward to because of past exceptional experiences. The only place that did not disappoint us was the W Hotel. Service has fallen across the board, across the world, due to staffing issues after the shutdowns. The W Hotel was even better than ever with their service model and staffing this visit. Our list of names that impressed us is even longer than the last time. (Big thank you's go out to Eric, and David (who is always there!) at the front door, Lucey, Laura, Alex (both of them!), and Lucas in The Living Room. Rachel, Eddie, at the pool. La'Vander, Shawn, and the rest of the dancing beach team down at Sand. Sole, Andrew, and the other Insiders who made our visit perfect. George and Rick who hosted the cigar smokers event. The Style Team led by Andres just made the place sparkle! Ricky at RWSB was a welcome moment every time we interacted.) Honestly, everyone we came in contact with was personable, caring, and helpful. The newly decorated rooms were quite peaceful. There is a beach-vibe happening with the colors and decor. Much cheerier than the previous modern/minimalist look that we also loved. They kept the iconic shell ceiling lamps that have an almost wind-chime effect when one walks by them. So calming. We are already planning our next visit. We will be watching for snippets of information and updates on Instagram. (We were told about some of the next updates and they will be quite fantastic!) Thank you, everyone, at The W South Beach. Such a gorgeous hotel with beautiful, clean rooms and all the comforts. The staff is very accommodating and helpful. People seem to love working there. Guests are treated like VIP. Eric was a huge help at the bell desk. Claudine in housekeeping was so friendly. Christine at the bar giving us tips on where the hot spots were. The beach was gorgeous and service at the beach was prompt and friendly. Book your massages before your arrival because unfortunately they were booked solid before our arrival. I can't even begin.....it is safe to say the W South Beach saved my mental health during this pandemic. The service--impeccable. Need a portable charger at the pool? No problem. Need delicious food? No problem. Need your Diet Coke delivered at 11:45am? Done. It truly was "whatever, whenever." I spent two wonderful days here trying to revive my perspective of 2020. I had no idea that good service, sunshine and still keeping up with all safety protocols could be this therapeutic. Miss you, W. Thank you for everything! read more

Really wish i could give this place a zero as this has been the trip from hell... Wife and i traveled down from NY for 4 days some work some rest , TV catch up and some dinning out without the kids. Checked in February 18th to find out and only thing could accomplish is dinning out .. No wifi for 4 days no TV no hotel telephone couldn't even order room service been more like staying in a fancy prison with no perks .... Management is a joke and i can say that as a titanium member of Marriott and Diamond member of Hilton i've never been disrespected like this in 20+ years of traveling. $1100 a night save yourself from this misery read more
