Frankly, Eric and his team at WA First Mortgage absolute blew us away. Not only was Eric's attentiveness and responsiveness a major contributing factor to our successful home purchase - but his team facilitated a lightning speed, 16 day close in an extremely competitive and strained market. When the seller's agent called him to discuss our credentials, and strength - Eric picked up the phone immediately and went to bat for us - which likely made a big difference in our offer being accepted over 8 others. Something I also feel speaks to the kind of service that Eric provides, is that he has the heart of a teacher. He helped my husband and I understand and feel very informed in our first home purchase. I was truly not expecting such a kind and informative broker - but Eric wildly exceeded our expectations. Furthermore - Grant, our Loan Officer/Coordinator was a rockstar. He requested documents and signatures in a clear, and timely manner, as well as responded to our inquiries nearly immediately. We also got the impression that he was a genuinely nice person, which we appreciated. Overall, if I could given our experience a 15/10, I would. Received the WORST possible customer service from your agent ERIK AMES. He was very rude, arrogant and selfish. I applied for the refinance 3-4 weeks back. For the first 2 weeks there was NO RESPONSE from him. Then I sent him a reminder and only then he started working on my application. Even then, he MADE MISTAKES in the application (wrong loan amount, rates, etc.) for which I asked him to make corrections. He then SUDDENLY BAILED on my application (4 weeks already into the process) giving excuses that I am not valuing his time and that he has other clients. By then I had already invested a lot of my personal time into the process with this agent and was taken by complete surprise. He also ACCUSED me of FALSE allegations just because I asked him a few simple questions to conduct my due diligence on the clauses that I was signing up for, to which he gave WRONG answers. He used HARRASSING language such as (in his words on emails to me) "I'd have fired you if I had 0 loans in process" and "You're inability to understand the process is evident despite how many times I've explained it to you". He used INAPPROPRIATE HASHTAGS for me in his emails such as #entitledbrat #growup #byefelicia and even mentioned that I am following "flimsy standards and morals" in my job. I have worked with many lenders and brokers before who have been very professional but Erik has been the worst. I feel sorry for his other customers who have to work with him. I am glad I saw his true colors early and now don't have to deal with him. He exhibited unjustified bias, unprofessionalism, and harassed me with false accusations. I don't know why he chose to personally attack/target me. I would request Washington First mortgage to take immediate action on this, because no other customer should go through what I have suffered. read more

This has to be the longest refinance in world history! This simple refinance took over three months to complete simply because these people could not get their own stuff together. Every single day we got an email from our brokers little helper asking for something else, like a 401 statement that hasn't come out yet, but they didn't care and only threatened a longer refinance if we didn't produce it. The worst part is that we would get an out of office email when he asked for something and his little helper told us he was on the beach in Mexico and he couldn't help us at the moment. After a while, we told them to forget it, that we would not give them our business, but the wife thought that since we had gone so far... When they came to our house to have us sign paperwork, they had two copies of different paperwork with different numbers on them! We didn't catch it till later, but I warn you because they treated us just like a used car salesman would! read more

We worked with Jim Sorenson from Washington First and recommend him highly. Our purchase and sale agreement took a while to work out, and we had just a couple of weeks to close. Jim found us a loan at an exceptional rate and he not only met our time constraints, but he beat them. We were able to close before the end of the month and save ourselves a bundle in interest. I worked with a loan Officer with this company! He put me off and drug his feet giving me every excuse of needing more information. I believe as a stall tactic! I wasn't borrowing as much as he's probably use to, so I wasn't very important to him. He was very short and had a condescending attitude towards me. I would never ever recommend this company. I was referred to Chi Nguyen by a real estate agent here in Wenatchee, WA. I was a first-time home buyer and absolutely clueless about the whole process. I contacted Chi on a Saturday night, because I had just found out that the home I was interested in was about to get an offer from someone else. I needed a pre-approval letter. Chi promptly responded and was ready to help me out. Due to the stories I had heard about getting home loans, the rates, hidden fees and many of the negative aspects that occur, I was pretty skeptical about lenders. The first house did not work out. Regardless Chi did everything quickly and professionally. I dropped the agent I was using at the time who referred me to Chi, and I began looking at other homes with a different agent. When it came time to get serious about another home, I contacted Chi to get a quote, but I also talked to a bank about my options. As I said, I was without experience and wanted to learn as much as I could. The person I talked to at the bank required A LOT more for a down payment, and the rate was higher. This made me wonder what Chi was hiding for his quote to be so much better. I compared the numbers side by side and researched what each fee was. As far as I could tell, there were no hidden concerns, but I knew the truth would come out in the end when the final numbers were drawn up. I think it was about this time when I asked Chi if he could meet up with me, and he told me that he lived in Kirkland! To my surprise, everything was done quickly and professionally, without a hitch, so location made no difference. I found the house I wanted, and as soon as I was going to put an offer in 2 more people decided to as well. I lost the battle to someone else who must have had a better offer, but within a few days of it going pending, the deal fell through and I put in an offer before anyone else had the chance. I offered a higher number than I had previously and shortened up the closing time to only 25 days! It all had to happen very fast, and Chi was always ready and efficient. The offer was accepted, and we closed on time with no problems at all. What is even more amazing is that I had to put less money down than what I expected, the rate was unchanged, and no hidden fees were added. I couldn't believe how much better the rate he had was, as well as the amount down. Even the agent I was working with was shocked at how good he is at his job. She said that she will definitely refer her clients to him in the future. Chi and I actually became friends through the process. He is very personable, and never made me feel like I was asking stupid questions. He answered me with a thorough explanation that was easy to understand and made me feel like I could call him anytime if I needed anything else. Chi Nguyen really knows his stuff when it comes to mortgages. Buying a home is scary when you don't know who to trust, but I got lucky and had the opportunity to work with Chi. I am fortunate to know him. He was always good at reminding me that buying a home should be fun, exciting and worth it once it is all done. I literally enjoyed the whole process from start to finish. Absolutely the worst communication and most unprofessional outfit to ever work with. They are unprepared and take longer than the average lender. Seth especially is terrible. I believe he has no idea what he is doing and takes longer than 60 days on a basic loan. Don't use them or accept an offer if selling a house from them. They cost you so much extra money. Recently, I refinanced 2 of those homes with the assistance of Tryg Satterlee and his team at WA First Mortgage. The mortgage process is a frustrating and ugly beast. I have learned through the many home purchases and refinances that the amount of paperwork and Federal hoops to jump through is never ending and Tryg and his team have made this process as easy as possible for me. Kevin, I'm sorry that you had a rough ride. If the date of your review is indicative of when you were working with them, we were probably refinancing at about the same time. And I didn't have any issues - in fact it was easily the most efficient and painless paperwork process that I have been through. Jeff LaDue was our broker, and he anticipated well what questions the lender might have due to our specific situation, and we preemptively provided that information. One round of iteration with the lender, which is to be expected, and we were done. We could have closed in 30 days, but delayed a few days since my wife was on a trip. Other personal recommendations led me to Jeff and this company. The low rates, Jeff's experience, and his knowledgeable answers to all questions I posed sold me. The service we received during the loan processing would bring me back. One point to be aware of... This company handles the appraisal fee outside of closing, which is different than I have experienced with other lenders. Not a problem, just a detail not to be surprised by and to take into account when comparing rates between lenders. read more

This review refers to our experience with Austin Matson, a senior loan officer, and Tryg Satterlee, WA First's president. To say we're dissatisfied with them and WA First is an understatement. Matson advertises he has lots of experience. If so, how did he let this happen? He had 46 days to secure a mortgage for my daughter's house purchase, and as the weeks went by he consistently told her she qualified for the mortgage. Then only 4 days before closing he told her she no longer qualified -- and the only way to salvage the loan was to add me as a cosigner! If we hadn't found yet another way -- which cost us many thousands of dollars extra -- my daughter would have lost her house. Everyone involved (except apparently Matson) was angry. My daughter's real estate agent said she should have been told of any problems way earlier than 4 days before closing so she could shop other lenders. The r.e. agent, who was great, vowed never to work with Matson again. I complained in writing to Satterlee, Washington First's president. Five weeks later I've received no response. None, despite what Satterlee says on his web page:..."true success shines in creating life time clients through clear and concise communication, honesty and integrity." Does he even believe that? You judge. Satterlee previously owned another mortgage company that was fined by the state of Oregon in 2011 for failing to respond to seven requests for required documents. Last year Washington state held WA First in violation of its Consumer Loan Act for failing to pay the state almost $69,000. And WA First's Richard J. Seraka was stripped of his loan originator license and ordered to stay out of the mortgage business for 15 years after it was found he had altered loan documents. All this can be easily verified online. So wish my daughter had researched Washington First Mortgage and Austin Matson before she went with them. They were a very costly mistake read more

My husband and I worked with Kelly Rose-Anderson at WA First Mortgage and had a great experience, she truly acted as a personal loan officer! We were first time home buyers and Kelly answered all our (many) questions quickly and was happy to do so! Buying a house without realtors was a challenge and we really leaned hard on Kelly to help us with the paperwork. Going through the process of getting a loan with her was painless as she made sure we knew what we were signing and was able to hand hold, when needed, through each step! She also kept us informed of the current changes that were happening at the time with regards to the shift in acquiring a loan which was helpful to understand why things took the time they did. We closed in mid December 2015, and I've continued to email her with questions about our mortgage and loan which she answers quickly! We got pre-approved for a mortgage through WA First Mortgage quickly but after that when we needed to get an estimate to put an offer on the house our loan officer is disappeared, and stop communicating to us, no replies to emails no telephone calls, nothing! i had to contact President, Tryg Sattterlee, to figure out what is going on and asked him to transfer us to another Loan Officer within his company. Well, instead of doing it he CANCELED our application!!! I guess He did not like my complaint! So we lost so much time for nothing! If you are planning to use this broker, think twice!
