This was a very enjoyable tour. Agnes was a knowledgeable guide who shared a lot of information about the wildlife, the waterway, and some about the local history. It was a beautiful, scenic boat ride with a lot of learning along the way. We also saw a number of osprey, an anhinga, a couple of herons, numerous turtles, and probably 8 alligators! This group is a well-oiled machine! From the pre-boarding to the end of the tour, the employees were lovely and kept everyone informed of when they would start loading the boat , what to expect, the history of the property they are on, etc. The tour was a nice and relaxing way to spend time at the beach - away from the hustle and bustle and noose of traffic in the area, away from the throngs of beach-goers, kitschy souvenir shops , and the like. The Waccamaw river is peaceful and beautiful with an abundance of wildlife to observe. Agnes, our tour guide, is a transplant from the North, but she's very knowledgeable about the river and area. She was a delight to listen to, even when she delivered some "dad-joke" quality material! But, her narration and delivery was thoughtful, informative, and light. I am from South Carolina, so I am very familiar with seeing alligators, turtles, Osprey, and all the flora and fauna we observed on the trip. But, as a water and nature lover, I would take this tour again with this company. I highly recommend them! My only other recommendation is that if you have back or hip problems, consider taking a cushion on which to sit. The boat does have cushions on the seats, but they may not be supportive enough for some people. read more

We had the absolute pleasure of taking a Waccamaw River tour. First of all, I have to say that Betty and the staff were an absolute pleasure to deal with. The gift shop is cute, there's lots of little knickknacks and shirt and things, as well as beverages, binoculars, ice cream, etc. We were able to meet Bella, their mascot Rottweiler before boarding. Once on board, the captain started to take us out into the river and we met our tour guide, Agnes. Throughout the hour and a half tour, Agnes filled us in on the history of the area, pointed out lots of flora and fauna, and had lots of interesting little tidbits of knowledge about the history of such and how it used to be used. When we would spot some wildlife, such as turtles, Osprey, or yes, even alligators, they would try to stop the boat or maneuver the boat to get a better look, and then Agnes would fill us in on the species. Interspersed throughout the journey, Agnes was quick with little jokes, and was very interactive with the guests, especially the children on board. What a great little find, I'm so happy to give them the five-star rating that they deserve, and can't recommend taking the time out of your beach vacation enough to stop by a take a tour. read more

This tour without a doubt is the best tour in the Myrtle Beach area. Right from the start you are treated like kings and all the employees were exceptional. I'd like to thank the captain and especially Saint Agnus for giving us a great tour. Great experience with this tour - friendly and knowledgeable staff and we learned a lot about the area and the animals. The captain and the guide made sure to point out all the animals and made sure we had time to really get good views of them. We never felt rushed and got lucky and saw a blue heron, osprey in nests, lots of turtles, and quite a few alligators. Never would have thought of doing a river tour in Myrtle Beach - it was great! Both adults and kids loved it (8 and 10 year old). Super informative but not presented in a dull way at all. Lots of wildlife to see and learn about - even if you didn't see the wildlife, the boat ride is nice by itself. We got to see THREE alligators! The people who run the operation are amazing. Really great how they try to encourage support of all locally owned businesses and give a special shout out to those who have served in the military. read more

What a great day away from the hustle of the main Myrtle Beach strip. We stayed near the Boardwalk area and this was about a 25 minute drive. Once you arrive at the drive for Waccamaw RT you have to wind around through the "Zoo" to get to the RT area in the back. Check in at the building on the right and you will be all set. Tours typically leave on time, which is nice, and take about 90 minutes. The tour guide was very knowledgable and did a great job interacting with the kids. There is so much about this area that many locals don't even know. Obviously, if you came to see gators, be patient and understanding. They are hard to see and they don't always want to be seen. We were lucky and saw one teenager. Many other wild life and plants to see. Be sure to stay out of River's way if "Pirates" come through... read more

Don't let the heat keep you away from doing this tour. I've been coming to MB for many years, had never done this, and am very glad that we took the time to do this tour. I would absolutely go back and bring friends and family. It was 92 degrees out but the river cooled things down a bit and overall the trip was very enjoyable. We saw several Osprey and gators. One of the wild gators was over 12ft. According to the guide, the likely reason that this big gator didn't dive under immediately was because it likely had been fed by humans in the past. We showed up much earlier than we needed to which was great because they have a lot of chairs lined up on the shore for relaxing as well as some games. Really enjoyed myself there today. read more
