We rented jet skis today. The instructor was great and so patient during our excursion. I ended up doing everything wrong but he was so encouraging. I highly recommend them, especially if it's your first time. It was my third time but I think the new skis are more sensitive than 20 years ago. The inter-coastal waterway is much calmer. The staff is very helpful--front desk and instructors. The front desk even let us use their sunscreen. Check in was quick and we were on the skis in no time. The one hour ride felt longer. read more

Awesome!! The staff was very nice. They explained everything to us. All sizes of life jackets available and new jet skis! I really like how they guided us out and then let us loose!! They stayed in the area where we rode to ensure our safety and be there for us if needed. I wish I remember their names to give them a shout out! We absolutely LOVED Island Adventure Watersports and can't say enough good things about our TWO rentals days. It's such a perfect location, the staff is so nice and all the equipment is new and easy to use. When we arrived in Myrtle Beach, we wanted to go jet skiing, found island adventure watersports on google and booked 5 jet skis. Upon arrival, once we got our paperwork & quick run through on how to operate, they got us right on the water and brought us to the perfect riding area. The guides hung out in the area to keep an eye out and once they set the boundaries we had the absolute best time. My face hurt once we returned from smiling and laughing so much - we haven't stopped talking about how much fun we had. After our jet ski day, we saw that they have pontoon boat rentals as well (with the added bonus of being able to bring our dog along for the trip) so we booked asap. We are so happy we did - we scheduled for half a day, had 7 passengers and a dog and had another beautiful day out on the water. It was so relaxing being out on the water and getting to see the wildlife (including a dolphin!) If you are looking for a fun day out on the water, whether you're an adrenaline junkie or would rather have a relaxing trip out on the water - I can't recommend island adventure watersports enough! Our whole family had so much fun doing this! It was two adults driving with our 8 and 10 year olds as passengers - they are super experienced with dirt bikes and four wheelers, and they still didn't mind that they couldn't drive. They literally didn't want the outing to end. The jet skis are in great condition. Our guides, Dave and Grant, were awesome - super helpful and laid back but also very diligent about keeping our group safe. Could not recommend this activity more! read more

Great time on the jet skis today! Service was awesome! This location is on the intercostal waterway, so no rough waves and wind to deal with. The water was smooth as glass in some areas and there was very little traffic from other boats. It's a 10 minute ride to the island where you'll have freedom to ride between two markers and cruise around the island. These jet skis maxed out at 47 mph which was plenty fast! read more

We love the backcountry jet ski adventure! This was our second time and we had a blast. Call to make reservations ahead of time! Each jet ski has 400-450 lb weight limit. The guides were great teaching us how to operate the jet ski and making sure we were comfortable. I would recommend going without shoes; we left our flip flops on the dock. Don't bring your phone in case you flip. Maybe just a water and leave everything else in the car. The tour brings you through the intercoastal waterways where we were able to see alligators, fish and tons of birds. You stop at an island about halfway through to stretch your legs and switch drivers if you would like. The first half of the tour is longer than the second. We went for the 8:30am tour and got back to the dock after 11am. Make sure to sunscreen up even for the morning tour as the sun is strong and you will burn. Dan the photographer also follows along to take professional pictures, both while your riding and when you stop at the island. Definitely worth it as we had an amazing family outing! This tour was a great end to our vacation week in SC! We actually came out on a Friday morning, but the weather wasn't so great so they took us out as far as we could and then turned us around because of the storm that was coming. They offered us prorated prices or a chance to reschedule another tour on another day. We rescheduled for Monday (the day we are driving back home) and everything went smoothly and just as planned. The tour itself was thrilling when you go fast and our guides Grant, Colton and Colton were very laid back and friendly. Booked a two hour tour with these guys a couple weeks back. Skis were in great shape and well maintained. Staff was friendly and explained everything. Once we cleared the no wake zone it was off to the races! 25-50 mph, for two hours, cruising the backwaters (which were like glass at 9 am). Stopped a little past the 1/2 way point at a small sand beach to stretch and take some photos. These guides know some awesome history and told us all about the area and it's rich history. This was so much more fun than just going back and forth over the chop between two fixed points. Almost 60 miles travelled today. The owner is a charming young man, who actually rode with us today. It's no surprise the experience was as good as it was when the owner takes a personal role in ensuring his guests enjoy the trip. Would definitely do this again, and again. Best jet ski experience!!! We did the 8:30am 2 hr tour and it was amazing . The jet skis where brand new which made them very easy and comfortable to ride. The 2 hour tour was beautiful and scenic and to make it fun our guide took us into less traveled smaller openings with lots of turns and narrow passages. It was perfect. We did it twice it was so fun! I recommend the am tour as the river was peaceful and we could truly enjoy it going at full speeds. read more

WHAT WE DID: Jet Ski Backcountry Adventure WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: -The adventure is about two hours long - it's a "quite literal" two hours. They try to do all of the instrument and fussing ahead of time, so you need to arrive early, so you'll get a full two hours to play. According to the instructor, you cover about 60 miles on jet ski in those two hours. -Island Adventure has worked out an agreement with the River City Restaurant across the street to allow guests to use their bathroom, but still, you'll really want to be empty before you get there. -You'll need to provide your own sunscreen and clothing. Don't expect to end up in the water, but empty your pockets and self of anything important or electronic in case you do. You really should not carry your cell phone on you. Instructor recommended doing it barefoot but also said shoes that are securely fastened to the feet (not flip flops) work okay. -You can ride two-up on a Jet Ski for this tour. I think the weight limit is 400 or 450 pounds. It's easy to switch riders (if you want) when you get out on the island to stretch your legs about half-way through. -The tour basically consists of lots of winding, awesome riding opportunities split in the middle by a visit to an island to get out and stretch your legs, and then another winding, awesome riding trail. You'll get to see a ton of wildlife along the river and there's lots of opportunities to "go fast!" PROS: -All of the staff was very friendly. The guy checking us in made it really easy and glided through the process. The instructor was really friendly, and it was clear that he's done it many a time. He seemed to really enjoy what he was doing, though. -Getting an appointment made on the phone was really easy. Whomever I talked to was happy to make note of a coupon and apply it to my order before I had even mentioned it. They happily answered my questions about the cancellation policy and what we needed to do beforehand. -I didn't go on the actual tour itself, but instead, took photos of friends before they went off on the tour. Nobody was bothered or had any issue with that. -The tutorial to drive was enough for newbies without being too much for people who have done Jet Ski before. It mostly consisted on basic information and safety and then hands-on build-up during the ride itself. People who had prior Jet Ski experience might be allowed onto the more advanced course at the instructor's discretion, so if you know what you're doing, you might be able to tackle the harder trails. -The "tour adventure" itself is pretty awesome. You're going to see a lot of wildlife, and the instructor will slow down the team and show anything of particular notice. You'll also visit an island that's only accessible by boat or plane - no roads head towards it. It's a generally neat adventure to go on, and it isn't just "go from point A to point B" - there are lots of twists and turns and lots of chances to really enjoy riding and steering a jet ski. CONS: -The bathroom in the restaurant across the street (that the company uses for operation) was apparently pretty gross. read more

We did the 2 hour guided tour on Friday 8/20/21and I would highly recommend it. Grant was our personal tour guide and we were very lucky to have him. Thanks to his keen eye we got to see some dolphins breaching ! The company itself was extremely patient and understanding with the few issues that our group had. The highlight of our vacation! The staff here is great & the owner is a super cool guy! We took a pontoon boat out with 4 people for 4 hours. Did some fishing, sun-bathing, and just enjoyed the nature. We spotted a few Ospreys, plenty of fish jumping and caught a few bream. Definitely recommend it, especially if you have a bigger group (up to 9) and split it. (Definitely helps if the driver has *some* knowledge of driving a boat, the channel can get a bit busy with boat/jet ski traffic at times) Bring coolers with food & drinks & plenty of water & you'll have the best day! read more

We rented 3 skis for the tour. Jaden was the tour guide and he did an awesome job. It was my wife's first experience on a ski by herself and he made sure she was comfortable even when the large boats went past us. Alyssa and Jason were fantastic. When we arrived and told them my wife was a first timer Alyssa offed a larger more stable ski so she could feel more comfortable and confident. That was huge. Jason let my son (18) and I take the 2020 sportier skis. It was a great experience all the way around. We felt like they had our safety first but at the same time making sure we had as much fun as possible. We would highly recommend them for any of their services. We can't wait to return. This was an awesome experience! My husband and I had never been on jet ski's before and we fell twice but the water felt great and being on the jet ski felt even better. The people were really nice and they even offered to change the time to a little earlier since it would only be us. We saw gators and lots of birds. We stopped at a little beach area and walked around. Our guide David was super nice and helpful. The photographer was great and we got some awesome photos to remember this experience. Their media team does an amazing job with capturing photos with the option to buy them and I'd highly recommend buying them they're all too great to pass up. Out of the handful of places offering wave runner rentals in the area, this one seemed to have the best price for the amount of time you got. Online reservation was simple and I arrived to find there was only a couple sharing a wave runner and myself that had made reservations. I had thought since I had chosen the standard rental and not a guided tour that we were just going out on our own and told to be back by a certain time. This was incorrect, all of the rentals are guided. After a brief safety talk, we were led down the waterway to an open area with an island in the middle and told we could do whatever we wanted between two markers. Since there were only two of us there was plenty of room to go fast on the water for a significant distance but after a few laps back and forth and around the island it did get a little repetitive. The guides lead us back after a while and we ended up being out for longer than the hour we paid for. If they had a different area for free riding every season I would go back. Still a great experience though. read more

On our first day of vacation we booked the two-hour wakeboard lesson with Danny and it was a-mazing! I spoke with him on the phone prior to our trip, and he was so easy going and knowledgeable. He takes you out on the waterway on a gorgeous boat, and shows you everything you need to do to wakeboard, wakesurf, or climb on a tube (which I did and loved). We had such a great day that we booked the next two days with him. The next day my husband and teens booked the two-hour jet ski tour and had a blast. They all loved going full speed on brand new machines, and Danny has the perfect balance of communicating the importance of safety while giving our teens the thrill ride they wanted. The last day we went back on the boat for another two hours, and it was the perfect way to end our vacation. We booked the Backcountry Jet Ski Tour and had a blast. We were checked in safety briefed and on the water on time. Once on the water we ran into a little beginners hiccups and the two young men that were our guides couldn't have been better. The group was split up with us in the front worried about what was happening with the rest of our party. The guides were in constant communication and kept us aware of the situation. We even saw a pod of dolphins on the way out. Met up our group at Sandy island and learned a lot about the history of the area. Cruised back to the dock without issue. Dan took 6 of us out to go tubing and wake boarding. We did a 2 hour trip and it was the perfect amount of time. He was a great captain and flipped us around on the tube. It was soooo much fun!!!
