Combination of meals here, from breakfast to Tex Mex night along with NYE special! All were great and always service with a smile, great convo and a good laugh! Be it your breakfast, lunch or dinner needs the Waco is tried and true for your dining needs. Whether by yourself with a seat at the bar or with a group of your besties at a table, they are always welcoming and ready to serve a delicious meal to enjoy! Although I do have to say, missing the summer warmth and sitting out on the back deck! Those days will be here soon enough! Wishing the team at the Waco an amazing New Year!!

Five star service food and vibes!! Couldn't ask for better. Jodi was the best server and the host Mike (Mark?) was so friendly

Fast and tasty lunch on a patio looking toward Canada . First time having a haddock Ruben and I highly recommend. Lobster roll was fresh and lightly seasoned.

This is a 100 year old restaurant right on the water. We were seated immediately. The menu is a fun, quirky read. Food was good. I had the scramble and Mom had the eggs Benedict (the eggs were huge. Very relaxing, though.

WaCo stakes its claim as Maine's oldest diner--three years older than Moody's--and it's 100 years old this year! And in the tiny border town of Eastport, it's important that there's a standby like this that's open every day. Mostly this is 7am to 2pm, but there are also a few days where there's a 4pm to 7pm dinner shift, too. I had breakfast, and really appreciated how in addition to the combo plates and specials, you have the option to mix and match items to your liking. That's how I cobbled together my bacon + corned beef hash + pancake deal, which was just the perfect amount. Loved the pancake in particular, which was somehow both fluffy and also delicate. Yum! And you can get fancier coffees too, so I was able to get a cappuccino. And you can't beat the view: it was foggy the morning I was there but I could still look right out at the harbor (on a nice day there's a deck where you can sit as well). Very nice staff as well, and service was super quick! While I didn't make it back for lunch or dinner this time, I'll look forward to that next time I'm up that way.

Great service, good food. Peanut pie was delicious! Lovely little spot on the water, with plenty of outdoor seating right on the water.

Waco bills itself as the oldest and eastern most diners. I like the typical diner set up in the front room. You can also enjoy the deck with water views on a nice day. I ordered the fried haddock which is found in abundance in Maine. While fried it was crispy and not greasy. Service was friendly and I am glad I can say I dined at Maine's oldest diner.

Single item review best lobster roll I have had anywhere for a reasonable price $27.95. I know that sounds like a lot but I have paid $39 at a restaurant in the Boston Airport. Good old fashioned diner right on the waterfront. Friendly service. The pictures speak for themselves.

We stopped in for breakfast at the WaCo (Washington County) Diner on a beautiful fall morning. We sat outside on the deck where we had gorgeous views of the water, sky and Campobello Island. The blueberry stuffed French toast, eggs, and bacon were yummy. Server was prompt and friendly. Bonus that our doggo could be on the deck with us. Great location with lots to explore after. Highly recommend Maine's Oldest Diner!

    Haddock Reuben. It was divine.

We heard some good things so we made a reservation for an early supper. Decor is modern farmhouse. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated promptly with menus. We were one of two tables in the room, the other seated a couple of minutes before us on the opposite side of the space. For the next 10 minutes a waitress went back and forth to this other table bringing drinks and taking orders. Another staffer was clearing tables near us and resetting them. Puzzled, one us went to the hosting station and a minute or so later a waitress appeared at the table explaining that someone did not check us in and that's why she did not come to our table. An apology (for the restaurant and/or herself) would have been appropriate but was not forthcoming. The food here runs from good to ok, but occasionally bad due to execution. We arrived hungry and ordered several appetizers. The winner of this course was the lobster bisque which flavorful and full of lobster pieces. The hot crab dip was cheesy and tasty but was served with bland commercial and perhaps stale tortilla chips;some nice toasts points might have been a better option. Our third diner ordered the shrimp cocktail hoping for a taste of the local Gulf of Maine shrimp, but that was not the case. For entrees, the most pleasing was the fish and chips, a generous piece of flaky, nicely fried haddock served with fries and Cole slaw. The smash burger was a double patty with all the trimmings but it lack seasoning and the usual crispness that is associated with the smash of the cold patty against the hot metal of the grill. The smoked salmon BLT was a fail. The bacon was cut to bits, the avocado schmear barely covered half the bun, the lettuce was part of the heart that was curly and made the sandwich fall apart and there was no tomato on the sandwich. For dessert , we shared the blueberry crisp with vanilla ice cream. While the blueberries were tasty as was the ice cream, there was no crisp here on the top except for a bit of oats that appeared to be added before the ice cream without being baked on. Generally, I can overlook some fails like the ones reported but there is no excuse for dirty dishes and unsafe conditions. Drinking water comes in a carafe that you serve yourself by pouring into short blue tinted tumblers. I poured for our table and two of the glasses were not used by us as there were lip prints of lipstick on them. We took two glasses from an adjacent table that was just set and again, one of them was also marked with a lipstick lip mark. Lastly, I asked for a table with a view, if possible. We were seated in a corner with a view of the trees for one of us and a view of the water. I noticed a door with an exit sign near us. It's a door you would not be able to exit as it was a clear 15ft drop to the ground. A wooden 2x4 was affixed to the frame across the door handle so you could not use it. But in case of fire, there was no way to safely escape through this door to no where. I might return under the right circumstances for the bisque and the fish, but I would walk out if I encountered the same safety issues again.

It turns out that was a huge mistake: don't judge a book by its cover, and don't judge a restaurant by the facade. The full parking lot should have been the tip-off: this is genuinely great food, prepared by a chef-owner with four decades of high-end experience. You'd be amazed to learn that this little unassuming place is a 100-percent scratch kitchen, turning out both ambitious plates and satisfying, elevated "comfort" food. The wait staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. But the food? Next level. Really. My steak was flawless. My wife's meal was great too... This place is well-worth a stop or even a detour to enjoy scratch cooking from a talented chef. There's live music on Friday's and they support community causes, too, which makes it all even better.
