My mortgage was sold three times in the past 9 months. Yep. WTF? To complicate matters, I never received notification so ended up two months behind. After spending a few hours on the phone with the Reo's who answer the toll free number, I was unsuccessful in creating an account, paying the balance and setting up auto pay without success. I had no choice but to venture downtown and visit the brick and mortar bank.
Admittedly I was quite annoyed when I arrived. A bit snarky, I reminded the teller, Ashley, that it is 2022 and there is technology that enables users to handle all of this online. With every account I have, even the teeny tiniest, I can set up auto pay online.
Since I called prior to driving there, I knew to bring a voided check for the auto pay but they had forgotten to tell me I needed an actual check to pay the two month balance.. This meant the auto pay could not be set up since the account first had to be current. Aaaaaagggghhhh
WAFD is located in the heart of downtown and parking isn't easy and I was not happy about having to go home, get a check and come back again. Ashley said she could accept a photo of the check for payment and I could email it to her so I wouldn't have to physically come back to the bank. Thank you, Ashley!
As soon as I got home I wrote the check, snapped a pic and sent it to Ashley. She set up an account, paid off the balance, and established autopay. Ashley was definitely the bright spot in this process!
From the outside the bank looks closed because the windows are boarded up. Understandable as they are in the heart of the city where the violence and destruction occurred for 9 months. But they are open! You have to be buzzed in, which I don't mind as they are keeping me and their staff safe. And the ATM is outside but in full view of the teller which again equals safety.
Thanks, Ashley, for the great customer service! For now I am all set. Keeping my fingers crossed that the mortgage does not get sold agaIn. read more
