Our friend brought us here because this guy has amazing homemade ice cream. I hadn't had a shaved ice in a while, I opted for that instead. The owner is really nice & even gave us extra because we both ordered mango and he was out. There's a lot of options and it's nice to see the dedication to our service men and women. The prices were great. The store was nice & clean which is hard to keep up with when there's only one person working and a bunch of kids with ice cream. Poor service & communication. I came in alone - leaving my husband with our children in the car. Was simply looked up & down once inside. I stood in line alone & was ignored, but every family that came in after was greeted & welcomed in. My ice cream had old ice cream flavor from the person before me on it, my order was fulfilled after others that came in, & I felt rushed out after basically having my husbands milkshake throw at me. I don't know who the grown man is inside this establishment, but he seems as if he has some frustration issues, or maybe hates people who resemble teenagers, coming in alone. All I can say is woot woot and then the tear drop because Waffle Cone is not in Chicago. Their ice cream is so good and I was so happy when my son took me twice on my visit to see him and his family. I mean I have had some good ice cream before but this was some GREAT ice cream trust me. The ice cream shop has so many nostalgic items on the walls that it was just fun to be there and look at them as I ate my ice cream. I meant to ask the owner why they had dollar bills on the ceiling but it was an awesome kind of quirk that just made the visit more fun. I wish you could mail ice cream because I would ask my son to do that from Texas to Chicago. The employees as well as the owner was very nice and made you feel at home. How can you not smile when you have that sweet cold treat on a hot Texas day? I know I smiled. If you are in the area or you never been I say "Go Experience the Goodness!" Definitely my to-go place for ice cream. They even have shave ice with lots of flavors and toppings you'd find in Hawaii. This place is a bit hard to find, but it's worth looking for. I got the mini me banana split which was $6 something- a little pricey in my opinion. All flavors are blue bell, which I love. My husband and son got a sugar cone with a kids scoop of ice cream. I had a chocolate coconut waffle cone with a scoop of coconut cream and a scoop of pistachio ice cream.
