I love the Waffle Cone and have since they first opened. Nothing like investing in the mom and pop stores that invest in our community. Mr. Hayes, the owner, is absolutely amazing. Charming and funny and involved in making sure the Waffle Cone is somewhere you want to come back to. Even better, they are finally making their own ice cream. Don't get me wrong, Blue Bell is amazing, but I can get that - or could get that, pre-Listeria, at the HEB. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this place! We went in tonight & it was packed. The decor is adorable, we were helped very quickly, and the ice cream was great. They use Bluebell, which is nice, since I'm not super stoked about cheap off-brands. It was a bit pricey, but worth it. Plus, they gave me free shaved ice (without any syrup) because I'm super pregnant and craving that stuff HARD. Bonus points. read more

This ice cream shop is good. Got the "Cookie Monster" and "Cream of Coconut". The scoops are huge! So big that I couldn't finish it all. The cream of coconut is delicious and packed with coconut flavor and coconut flakes! The Cookie Monster was full of Oreos and chocolate chip cookies, it was Yummy! It's a wee bit pricy. Went to waffle cone today and I must say the quality of ice cream, service, and cleanliness went to hell in a hand basket, since Covid. Would have given no stars if I could. Took everything I had not to say anything while the ice cream boy whole handedly scooped my ice cream before putting it in the blender. Every scoop got fondled with his dirty gloved hand. Also saw him remove his glove to scratch his ear (thank you for being courteous, but know I cringed every time you went to the back). Turned off, I couldn't help but notice another employee unmasked breathing over another customer's ice cream. She had a look of disgust as well. This is the place to go in the Fort Hood area to get terrific Ice Cream. We've been there MANY times over the years, and it has only gotten better. The Owner's overcame the BlueBell crisis by developing their own production line of homemade ice cream, with new flavors being added all the time. Seriously good ice cream and Italian ice. They do great Shave Ice as well. Family friendly venue, terrific place to get together for a birthday party or to celebrate a team win. Owners and staff are VERY friendly and the place is always clean. The real fun comes if you happen to be there when someone takes on the current ice cream challenge!! Many try, but few succeed. This place is gem and the owner is super-friendly. He seems to really like kids. We take our granddaughter here all the time. She loves it. It is not all about money to him. My dad ordered a really large ice cream and he tried to talk my dad out of it. Told him it was probably too much for him. He really underestimated my dad and his love for ice cream. Not only did he eat it, he bought more. He has a great variety and the prices are outstanding. He has stools in front of the ice cream case so kids can see. The decor is fun. Having lived in Austin for 8 years now, I've grown to love Amy's and now Lick. OK, I didn't have to grow to love Amy's, you just do if you like ice cream. Well, visiting my long time friends in Copperas Cove typically includes at least one trip to Waffle Cone. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you're in the a soda fountain from the 50's. Or Steak and Shake. They do all kinds of fun stuff and make all kinds of crazy combinations of sundaes. My only issue? They serve Blue Bell. I know, I know. It's Texas. I like Blue Bell all fine and dandy but I prefer a little bit of a more hard/rich ice cream. I've had probably 3 different kinds of sundaes here and they're ALL delicious. Not to mention everyone that works here is super friendly. Most definitely a sure stop if you're in Copperas Cove. read more
