Waffle House has become an iconic presence on the culinary landscape here in the southeastern United States. It seems that their familiar logo beckons in all of its bright yellow neon glory road-weary travelers, partying college kids, parents with kids in tow, hungry workers seeking a casual and quick sit-down meal and just about everyone else from every walk of life. Since Waffle House opened its first location back on September 5, 1955 in Avondale Estates, Georgia, it quickly established itself by offering a consistent selection of food and by being open twenty-four hours a day. For me, the biggest appeal of Waffle House has always been their hash browns, which you can get basic or topped with a variety of toppings such as chili, white sausage gravy, cheese, ham, onions and so many more items and you can combine these toppings in a multitude of ways. For my main course, I have usually gone with their patty melts or one of their egg breakfast options. I myself can see the strangeness that I have never had a waffle in a business where waffle is in their very name, but I prefer a more savory breakfast than a sweet one. This particular Waffle House location was convenient to my hotel. It was a good stop for a late night feast and the service was good. If you are in the southeast United States, odds are you have probably passed a Waffle House location. It seems that they are on almost every major highway exit ramp and strategically placed throughout most cities and towns in the southeast. If you see one, give them a try. read more

Fast hot and cheap. I had coffee, waffle (of course) and country ham. The service was good. The coffee was quite good. The waffle was acceptable. The ham a wee bit overdone and as all things Mississippi, way too salty. But all-in-all, a satisfying breakfast for $10.50. read more

You know I made it Waffle House for over 50 years my hometown of Columbus Mississippi is where I fell in love with the flight but since I've been gone and now it's almost October in 2024 I've been to this Waffle House in Columbus three times the first time they brought me my omelette they forgot the mushrooms and the hash browns and the rest of the food came almost 45 minutes later this is unacceptable the second time I went in there I ordered the same thing the eggs were so greasy you couldn't even hardly taste them very little ham very little mushrooms and then I went in today and figure I would get what they used to call a chili size which is a double burger beef patty on each bun on the plate covered with chili the chili was cold as ice so I have decided not to ever go into the Waffle House in Columbus Mississippi this is undoubtedly the worst Waffle House I have seen and I've been to a lot of them from Florida all the way out to California but the one in Columbus Has Fallen the employees don't even seem to care when you have a complaint they just shrug their shoulder and give you your bill read more

When we got there it took a while for us to get our order taken, but we could see they were short-staffed so that was alright. The first and only WH I've visited (yes, really) and the folks here are great. I sat at the counter and enjoyed about 3 days worth of calories in one sitting. Frickin delicious and great service. I walked in and ordered the all star breakfast. Added an extra egg, asked them to be cooked over medium. Asked for sausage and hash browns to be scattered and crispy with a plain waffle. My eggs wee well done. Hash browns were barely cooked. Sausage made up for it. It was cooked so crispy it was like eating a rock. Didn't get a waffle. Asked for extra jelly, didn't get it either. After a driving all over town on Christmas Day I had almost given up on getting a decent breakfast. Then I noticed this new location and decided to give it a try. The food here is very good, just like almost any other Waffle House you'll ever go to. My wife and I love to eat at Waffle House when we're out of town, so we know the menus pretty well and basically know what we want when we get in the door. This restaurant's cooking is great and fast, but there are a couple things we have complaints about: 1. The waiters have always had a hard time remembering my order. Get a hashbrown "all the way" and half the ingredients are missing, get a pecan waffle and you'll get a regular one, order a sprite and you'll get a water, etc. Not detrimental, but kind of annoying when it happens constantly. 2. The waiters, for as many times as I have been here, have never checked on us more than twice: when they get our order, and when they bring the order to the table. 99 out of 100 times, they're sitting at a table and talking to some other customer *cough* friend of theirs *cough cough*, and you'll never get their attention again. Again, not detrimental, but not great service. This isn't a terrible restaurant, in fact the food is great, and it isn't that bad when you're not in a rush. We sat at the counter, and not a booth, but after 10-15 minutes of waiting for ANYONE to greet us, or even act as though they knew we had come in, we decided to LEAVE and do our business with Huddle House! There was an elderly gentleman sitting at the counter near us, and when we got up to leave, he said we were the second set of folks he had seen while he was there, who had the same exact issue!
