In that time, I've developed a soft spot for Reuben sandwiches and have enjoyed them in more than 10 states. It took me two tries and three trips around the block to finally find The Older Brother, but the effort was absolutely worth it. I think I've found one of the finest Reubens I've ever eaten. A beautiful, fresh marbled rye held finely shredded corned beef, juicy sauerkraut, and their special dressing. It was one of the juiciest--and yes, messiest--Reubens I've ever had, and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I even sent my compliments to the chef. The trendy little café, with its wide-open windows and bright, airy feel, made it seem like outdoor dining on a beautiful day. Service was friendly, attentive, and right on time. Big portion sized sauce cups (huge plus for us big dippers.) Tons of options, and food doesn't take too long to come out. It may seem like a basic option, but the chicken tenders are slap your mama!! I believe you can get them grilled too if you'd like but I prefer them fried-- some of the crispiest tenders around. Service is always very polite and quick. It is an order and sit type of situation where you pay and get a number. Fountain drinks come in a huge reusable cup that you can take home and get refilled! Today was my second time going to this location (third time EVER going to any Jersey Mike's), and I again had a good experience that I think is worth noting. Yes, Jersey Mike's is a little pricey, but the food is amazing with even better service. I walked in there wanting to get something different from what I got last week, and the girl who took my order was so helpful and offered a specific sandwich that fit my mood. While they were making my sandwich, the staff was eager to answer questions and was prepared to give suggestions concerning, in this case, the pepper relish (which was great!). "Oh yeah that's really good and would go well with mayonnaise." She was right! Again, I don't know if Jersey Mike's is new to Starkville, but this place is amazing and my new favorite place to get a sandwich (former fave was Jimmy John's). (Unfortunately I didn't't find out until after I tried to order and had my mind set on it) There was a good amount of seafood but 1 more shrimp would have made it much easier to split evenly. I can see why Taste is the go to choice for my daughter and her husband when they want to celebrate.
